I think Sakura's character could be improved if writer payed some more attention to her. Though it was shown that sakura had a better mind than other of her teammates, instead of making her useless her character could get a tactician/strategist role. It can be shown that she is the one who is responsible for most of the planning before going on a mission. But I guess writer had no interest in doing so and made her character a cry baby and mostly useless.
Sakura was nevver supposed to be a main character. Her character had Zero depth and always seemed forced in the same line as main character. Compared to the death of other team 7 members character was nothing. Naruto lost his family and was hated by everyone. Sasuke lost his family and saw his own brother killing them. And Sakura lost nothing and had no reason of being a ninja.
