Great channel, thank you! Personally I don't like that uptimekuma is manually configured - no way to store config as a code. I personally switched to gatus since it's easier to maintain when you have more things to monitor
Not bad, but normal monitoring can do this too, eg Zabbix (Web scenarios, certificates, DNS monitoring, custom dashboards, email scheduled reports, notification to any webhook-based platform etc)
You're right, but it's a lot heavier, especially if all you want is an uptime monitor. Zabbix is certainly more feature rich though. I also have videos using grafana, Prometheus, influx etc for a custom approach.
Thanks! Yes, I will be doing that. I currently use grafana and Prometheus for monitoring my kubernetes cluster. I'll likely do something similar for Docker (I used to use it, I have all of the configs still)
Silly question but does your Steam account need to be signed into the machine (I'm using SteamCMD) you are hosting the dedicating game server from? I'm currently using anonymous and Uptime Kuma shows "Server not found on Steam" after I entered my Steam API key. Any suggestions?
You need steam API credentials to query the steam API. In the video I used my account to generate API keys to query a random Ark server on the internet (it was not mine). However, I believe you need a valid steam account for SteamCMD, and thus this only works because I'm querying a server that someone else has set up correctly using their SteamCMD and proper credentials. I guess in your case, your game server isn't sending data to the SteamCMD because you're in anonymous mode? I might be wrong though.
I'm not sure that is possible with uptime Kuma. You can obviously view within the Plex app or web gui. I also view it through my homepage (I have a video on that).
hi Jim, i cant get this to seem to work. Edited the Docker compose file to my settings. But it dosent matter what monitor i add i keep getting a failure. e.g just add my pihole url and i dosent find it
Yes it’s docker hosted and with traefik as a reverse proxy. Well it’s all from you just changed it for my Homelab set up. Yes dns record is in pinhole as for the other stuff. It doesn’t matter which local url I use. It finds nothing
By the way love your stuff. My day job is a sys admin. Hobby homelabbing of course. 3 proxmox hosts as a cluster Truenas storage server and a separate pbs server

You're welcome. It would be great if you could configure with code...

I love Uptime Kuma, great video. Any plans for a log server like Graylog or something?

@@Jims-Garage OOO Prometheus and Grafana those will be awesome to. All excited now. You rock.
Good stuff I use this great tool
Yeah, it's pretty awesome. Especially combined with Gotify (check my other video).

How can i monitor my plex server that any clients are playing video or not?

How is this hosted, in Docker I assume? Do you have a record in Pihole for Pihole?

@@JasonKing101 Thanks! Nice, that's a solid setup. I'll likely get another node in the near future to play with Ceph.
Same here. It can't seem to do name resolution so everything shows being down. Doesn't matter if it's something internal or out on the internet.
