Little Girl Dances to New Arsenal Anthem - The Angel North London Forever | Cole Lam 15 Years Old

- The reason why you see me wearing my Arsenal top a lot when I am out playing on a public piano is because whenever I come out to watch Arsenal play at home at the Emirate Stadium, I always come and play at St Pancras. Sometimes it's before the match, sometimes after depending on the time. This time, it's a special one, as it was the last game of the season - Arsenal playing Everton at home.
What's brilliant is that recently, there was a new song by @louis_dunford called The Angel that has pretty much become the new anthem for Arsenal. The main chorus starts North London Forever - and it's the chorus that is played and sung in the stadium. It was first played in the previous home game (against Leeds) and now is definitely linked to Arsenal forever. I first heard it 2 weeks ago, and I have been a little obsessed by it! I had to create my piano cover of it, and knew I had to have it ready for the last game of the season. Unless you are an Arsenal fan, you probably won't recognise it, but if you are - you definitely will. Love that they little girl appreciated the music, and was free to dance away!
If you listen to the song, it talks about living and growing up in North London and how the place and building may change, but the people is what makes it special. I did not grow up in Islington (where Arsenal is based), but grandparents lived there, and my dad grew up there. They lived in Caledonian Road - which the song includes (well, The Cally which is also on the road), and my dad actually went to school less than a mile away from the Arsenal stadium. I know I don't have that connection like my dad does to the place and the song, but when you hear it sung in the stadium, you get goosebumps on top of your goosebumps.

As many you know Arsenal FC, you know you rated little about that club, but the supporters of that club suffer a lot, still they remain loyal to their home and their club. This is their song of hope.
Hi Cole, Having checked this video out again and particularly seeing Don's comment about the lyrics being typically British. I thought it might be helpful to your fans who are not from London to provide a translation. Some of these words are London's Rhyming slang. "Battle Cruiser" is "Boozer" or better known as a public house or "pub". "Rosie Lee" is a "Cup of Tea" "A Ruby with the Lads" can be a bit complicated and refers to a "Ruby Murray" who was a popular singer from the 1950's and early 60's and rhymes with "Curry". The other words that are London slang are "Muckers" who are friends. "Manor" refers to my area or district. "A Hoister selling Clobber" is a thief selling clothes. I hope that helps.

Talking to Ari and also to a lady from Trinity College London (your qualifying body), who was really impressed. Sorry I wasn't listening to you at the time. Love this one and the lyrics are so right for The Angel (Islington) and Highbury (home of Arsenal). For your fans from outside the UK who may know the London Monopoly Board, "Angel" is one of the light blue properties. As someone who was born and spent my whole life in London, I related to this one. Well Done !!

Having watched this video again, I have realised that I have not translated all of the lyrics for those non-Londoners and even for some Londoners. In my earlier post, I did explain much of the London slang but here are some more. "Cally to the Cross" talks about The Caledonian Road to Kings Cross, both parts of this North London area. "The Brasses from the Brothel" refers to "Brasses", the London slang for the ladies of the street (should be quite obvious) "Offie on the Corner" "Offie" is short for Off License, which is a store which sells alcohol to be consumed off the premises. In London, they need a license to sell alcohol. "Cozzers" are Policemen, that should be easy to work out. "The Thornhill to the Hemmy" or better known as the "Hemi" These are two bars or public houses in this area of North London, they are The Thornhill Arms in Caledonian Road to The Hemingford Arms in Islington. Hope that helps.

Hi, Cole. Don't know if you'll see this or remember the short exchange we had a few weeks back.(fellow gooner that was considering buying a piano). But as I'm not from London, I was wondering if Spurs' ground is between the Cally and The Cross, and whether that could be the 's**thole in between' that Louis refers to in his lyrics? 🤣 Also, I finally chose a piano. Got the donner dep20 for 280 squid off Amazon. Been using the Hoffman academy lessons on youtube, and can now play a half decent, two handed Happy Birthday too. Slowly working on Nuvole Bianche as my 'side project' while I follow the lessons.

Cool! The dep20 should be a good piano as it's basically the same as the one I use for my tutorial videos. Spurs stadium isn't there, I think the lyrics basically just taking about the places and shops between the cally and the cross
Ref ‘The Cross’….if it is Kings Cross then no WHL is not near there. However Louis Dunford could be referring to Waltham Cross, which is called The Cross locally. But I am not sure he is specifically having a go at WHL.
