I reckon you're a good man Joe. Just hang in there and keep your pecker up and keep on chuggin. I lost my wife too a while back and know pretty much where your head is right now but everything will get better. I try to watch all your videos but have a full plate with this farm. You have a lot of knowledge and thanks for taking the time to do what you do here. God bless you and yours.

Hey Joe, did you know that the tea tree oil works great on stings, esp queens FYI. This recipe looks very similar to the Brood builder with out the Peppermint oil. What is the difference? Why not just stay with the Brood builder all the way?

what did you mean it works on stings, esp queens? Talking about when the queen stings or as a remedy if a queen is stung? (I think I know the answer to this, but I like to be sure.)

Joe, under your description here it says for Nosema in the Spring and fall the mix is two teaspoons of tea tree oil. Just making sure, is it 1 or 2 teaspoons?
Once the full solution is made all that needs to be added to one gallon of sugar water is 1 ounce, correct?

    Hello Joe!
I just wanted to confirm the ingredients and amount to make the mixture for Nosema treatments.
1 tsp Tea Tree Oil, 1 tsp Wintergreen Oil and 3 drops of Lemongrass oil to water and blend as per your video feed here.
Is this the correct measurements to be used when making this solution?
    Thank you.
    Scott

@@LittleBitsHoneyBeesjoemay Okay, got it. This recipe/solution makes a half gallon, add only 1 ounce of this solution to a gallon of sugar syrup. Does it matter for what type of sugar water that you mix the solution into, being 1:1 or 2:1?

How do you like your syrup mixer? Have you done a video on it?

I was going to feed the brood builder mix in next few weeks (I'm in NE Texas), but then saw this mixture. I'm confused as to when I feed each of them. I notice the spearmint is only difference. Can you explain the difference? Thank you Joe.

I went back and watched the video. In the video I said to use one tea spoon of tea tree oil it suppose to be two tea spoons tea tree oil. That's the difference . The first two or three feeding use the Nosema treatment then feed brood builder.

You said in your brood building mixture (separate video) to put 1/2 cup concentrate to 1 gallon of sugar water. For this nosema treatment video you said 1 cup of concentrate to 1 gallon of sugar water. Is this correct in that the mixture is higher for the nosema then the brood builder?

nice video, I was wondering how do you keep your queens from swarming out of the box when you keep them jam packed (to make queens cells). I gave that a try like the fat bee man (Don),. I ended up with queen cells but my good queen left? Good luck on the new business.

    • @LittleBitsHoneyBeesjoemay

Jim it hard to do they really hide the cell at the bottom of frame. When I crowd them I use nucs not 8 frame, you will have to go thru them every 7 days. I usually make queens from emergency cells., so dose Don.

Are we talking 1:1 syrup or 2:1? I tried using Honey Bee Healthy (half of what was recommended) in their syrup. They wouldn't touch the stuff...it is very strong smelling. I've heard Nosema C. presents as black shiny abdomens, which contradicts the theory that when bees rob each other, during the fighting they will tear out every hair trying to grab on to the robber bee to pull it out of the hive. I guess the only way to know for sure is to crush some of the bees from the mite wash and put them under a microscope.

I feed 1:1 except in winter on a warm day I will feed 2:1. Nectar only has about 18% sugar one to one is 50% sugar. The only reason I feed any 2:1 is I don't want the moister in the hive in cold weather.
