General guide on how to replace rear shocks. The vehicle I’m attempting on is a 2005 Volvo S40 T5. Applies to most cars on the road.
Procedure is similar for:
2004 - 2011 VOLVO S40
2008 - 2012 VOLVO V50
2008 - 2012 VOLVO C30
Shocks: amzn.to/31QQbta
Tools:
- Wrench
- Box Wrench
- Ratchet (my favorite)
- 12mm socket
- 15mm socket
- 19mm socket
- Breaker Bar
- Torque Wrench
Torque Specs:
- Upper Shock Bolts: 18 ft-lbs (24 Nm)
- Lower Shock Bolt: 78 ft-lbs (105 Nm)
- Wheel Lug Nuts: 81 ft-lbs (110 Nm)

In my experience the bolts (steel) often meld with the aluminium of the bracket and are difficult to get out with danger of bolts rounding off. More wet weather and salty roads in UK I guess dont help!! Perhaps a wee gasket washer between bolt and aluminium bracket can help.

I have the mounts (not shocks) to replace on my 2010 C30. Do the plastic/rubber covers that slip inside the underside of the strut mounts just pop in with some persuasion? I notice on your video that you reused the mount and just replaced the shock. Thanks 😅
Yes you can reuse them. As long they are in good usable condition. Cheers!

What size box wrench do you need? I don't have an angled one that would work well for that. I assume a metric set would work?
Guys how fucked am I if the whole thing which holds the strut is moving all the possible ways?
Hi are the strut toos the same on the s40 c30 and v50
I believe so. Here is the link to where I got my struts. The description tells you what year and models my struts were compatible with:

Vehicle just flat lines and feels like it's gonna cut off service engine light came on someone checked it said gas pedal sensor. What do you think it could possibly be?
Yellow Hm that’s a pretty broad symptom description. It could be anything from sensors to mixture. My suggestion is to take it to a technician and have that scanned/diagnosed so you can pinpoint the culprit. Good luck mate!
