I listen to the poet David Whyte say that poetry makes a man dangerous. He must have had Robert Bly and Coleman Barks in mind. Great video.

This is wonderful. Does anyone know if there has been development to make a course on Iranian poetry in California as they discussed in this video?

The best way to understand the great Muslim poet of the 13th century C. E., Mawlânâ Jalâluddîn Muhammad Balkhî-ye Rûmî (qaddasa 'llâhu sirra-hu), is to know that the inward meaning of all of his verses and poems is faithful to the revelation of the Qur'ân and to the Traditions [Ahâdîth] of the Prophet Muhammad (Sallà 'llâhu 'alayhi wa sallam). He stated this clearly in a quatrain:
I am the servant of the Qur'ân [man banda-yé qur'ân-am] as long as I have life.
I am the dust on the path of Muhammad, the Chosen one
    [muHammad-e mukhtâr].
If anyone quotes anything except this from my sayings,
I am quit of him and outraged by these words.
--Mawlânâ Rumi's Quatrain No. 1173, translated by Ibrahim Gamard and Ravan Farhadi (in "The Quatrains of Rumi," 2008, p. 2)

+Baqer Baqur Rumi means Roman. He was an Afghani. you cannot own excellence by changing it to your name.

Also the interviewer creates a pushing atmosphere for conversation .... that is not consistent with rumi s flowing and empty tone of ideas and feelings .....

I don’t like the interviewer focused on war instead of love. It looked more like political to me. Of course it is iran and Americans there and even though it is for poetry that media is political. But they shouldn’t ask such questions from poets whose mindset is set on something else!
