    For quite some time you could buy Samuel Jackson voice on the Amazon Alexa weather function. I was brokenhearted when that came to an end. Please-please-please, let us have his voice on a cursing bot!

    Surely you can't patent 'prior art' which I understood to be systems that are already produced and sold, e.g publicly known.

    Swan and Edison is an interesting example re patents in that particular case regarding the light bulb at the core of which how patentable is something that’s been around for years and your invention is just an upgrade even though in that case a very important one commercially.

    I work for Graybar Electric (Elisha Gray/Enos Barton)...Elisha Gray was the other inventor who lost out to Bell. I don't know the time frame, but Bell won because he got reviewed first.

    • @tedmoss
      @tedmoss 4 місяці тому

      If you look at Bell's work, you can see he deserved to get a patent. Please remember that it was Thomas Edison that invented and patented the telephone transmitter, which made the whole thing practical.

      @@tedmoss I'll take your word for it. But even if Gray's application were better, I'm not sure it would have changed the outcome since timing seems to trump merit if both applications are qualified.

    I could see the battery setup to be repacable, but not like a battery swap. They should be semi-permanently installed, but could be replaced if required.

    Just thought of something. AI will fix accents as it probably won’t change. People will always be around a fixed stable possibility mid western sound. And similarly other countries and those accents will most likely stabilize. It could also eliminate changes in language and Latin will be eventually be forgotten. Maybe.

    SJ was called few hours before the presentation to ask for permission to use her voice. She was approached before and rejected. The fact that OpenAI does not want to reveal the person that they supposedly use to create their voice is already suspicious. Even if it’s slightly altered it’s still copying. CEO also tweeted “her”, they had every intention of having the AI to sound like SJ. They absolutely shot themselves in the foot yet again. I think Sam is probably not the most honest person as you think he is looking at all past decisions.

    Would Sky sound as grating if she just read a weather report?
    Is her voice really, the problem, or is there some kind of knob OpenAI has, to turn up emotion and modulation? Or does emotion level track what the model infers from content? I’m not so sure that the extreme emotion is “naked in” with the voice identity.

    So I asked AI this question:
    Q: 1 quart of gasoline is equivalent to how big of an electrical battery?
    AI:
    The energy content of 1 quart (around 0.95 liters) of gasoline is approximately 31,000-33,000 watt-hours or 31-33 kilowatt-hours (kWh)
    -----------------------------------
    So power the robot with a small chainsaw engine where 1 quart of gasoline equals half the battery pack of the Tesla Model Y.
    Or hydrogen if your Green folks....hydrogen fuel cell
    anything but a battery......

    • @robbiero368

      Because gasoline fumes in a closed factory or home environment is always a good idea

    • @noleftturns
      @noleftturns 4 місяці тому

      @@robbiero368 That's why I added hydrogen. To make the robot go 24+ hrs you can't use batteries you need a fuel.
      One of the basic design criteria would be how long before the robot needs more energy.
      Swappable batteries
      but a liquid fuel is far superior
      A hybrid is probably the way to go-it can run for 2 hours on a battery and has a fuel backup to run for 24+ hours.
      All of this should have been divulged in the White Paper describing the robot
      but elon doesn't believe in White Papers..just throwing crap at the wall and see what sticks

    If there is provable “prior art” then you can’t patent it (your device). So if someone is publicly using some new “device”, they invented, for 20 years then somebody else can’t patent it. (They can try (patent pending) but it will be dismissed if “prior art” can be proved.)

      I want to patent the signature and the word "THE". I am a simple man. Every time someone signs something I want $0.01. If the signature is of value, like a celebrity or famous, I want just 10% of the value. Every time a book uses the word "the" I want $0.01. The bible would owe me $17.06 per copy printed.
