26:33 What a sad ending, after all that struggle, he got devoured by some big red monster. Oh wait... Thanks for the play-through, not leaving a single rock unturned! You deserve way more viewers.
I've been watching these since Bigger Guns Nearby and seeing then in my feed has always been a treat! I am really looking forward to you covering Durandal, especially Begging for Mercy and the Robert Blake ark since I aways find your thoughts on certain events interesting. See you then!
I am excited to dig into them, too. There are a lot of things I don't know until I dig into each video and study them further. I think the Marathin trilogy gets better and better the further you get.
Great series! You inspired me to finally beat the game on Total Carnage. As a kid I would always give up after the first few levels because I incorrectly assumed it would only get harder, not easier.
You did beat it on total carnage already, or are you going to? Either way, thanks for watching the series, and hopefully I can keep it going soon and finish the trilogy!
@Jeoku I beat it on Total Carnage just a few weeks ago! I half-heartedly tried a few times over the years but never made it past the first few levels. I have probably beat the game at least 10 times on normal.
I was going to beat the game on Total Carnage until I saw this final level. I know I could get through all of the other levels, but this level is such a pain. It is effectively a mandatory Iron Skull level if it were Halo. If you could restart the final level at the start of the level when you die, then maybe I wouldn't dread it so much. I just hate redoing the same things over and over and over just because you keep dying at the same specific spot. This final level intentionally wastes your time and I got so many other games I want to play.
This level is really unfair and tedious from a modern game design standpoint. Starting with the fact that if you die, you don't restart the beginning of the level, but you start at the save spot in the previous level which is nowhere near the exit so you have to run through that level just to replay the final level. Not letting you save at the beginning of the level or at least right next to the exit of the previous level was a big oversight. It's not like you can really return to the beginning of the level unless you screw up the final jump. I hate that you are fighting most of the enemies in the dark in an open room. Not impossible or too hard, but very annoying. And then there is the part where you have to run through the lava without knowing what the path is. You have to hope you didn't lose too much health from grenade splash damage before attempting it. It's tedious having to replay the whole level over and over just because you die going in blind into the lava section. They really should have added a check point somewhere or at least a level 1 recharge station next to the lava to give you a fighting chance. Even if it wasn't lava, it would still be a tough fight with all the enemies right on top of your head. The level itself isn't very hard, but the lava section is so unfair, I lost count from the number of times I died in that section. And then you just get tired of fighting the same fights from the parts you've completed over and over again.
Good points. There are definitely a few level design flaws with this one. There are some parts of the level which I like on the most part also. The level doesn't take super long to get through which helps but for harder difficulties it can definately take a bit longer. I think the key is to know which way to go to get through the lava and then make sure the troopers in the room before don't hurt you too much.

The big red monster is the most pathetic thing in existence :)
Thanks for continuing to watch. More great vids still coming!

I look forward to your videos, thanks for your efforts.
Absolutely. Thanks for watching
ooooh my suggestion got in!
It was a great idea! I couldn't remember who suggested it.

Marathon Infinity

2nd comment: the remix of the soundtrack of this level kicks ass
Which remix are you talking about? Several fans have made remixes of Splash, but there is no official one. I would guess Craig Hardgroves?
@@Jeokuthe one made by exasperant cringeologer
ua-cam.com/video/vHSBsbFge_0/v-deo.htmlsi=ZyJhhVnUzsmKpn61 this one? Read his vid description. It's by Alex
@@Jeokui wonder how it would hit in 1994 when playing the game if it was made by him
You could hear this version in 1994, just not in game.
So after the Marathon series you will get to Oni and then to Halo ?
Yeah I am thinking so but not sure. It will take a while to finish Marathon and Halo will be a huge undertaking. We will see.
