Couldn't Cast Without Catching Fish! | Mackerel Fishing Nova Scotia 2023

- Fishing for mackerel from an aluminum boat in Nova Scotia, Canada. On this fishing trip, we ventured to the Saint Margaret's Bay Area and caught hundreds of mackerel! We couldn't keep our lines in the water without catching fish. For gear, we used Sabiki Rigs with 1.4oz weighted hooks. Unfortunately, most of the fish were far too small to keep. However, we kept enough for a few meals. During this trip, we even witnessed a pod of dolphins swim by and caught a hake and a large sculpin. Notably, this year mackerel need to be 10.55 inches and you are allowed to retain 20 fish.

Definitely a busy day!
its the scales, they end up everywhere and imbedded into everything 😂😂
Definitely! We were covered after this trip!!!
@@Huntingpros i guess its a fun job at the end of the season cleaning everything and remembering summer nights when its baltic conditions outside in december
@whitetroutchannel haha definitely. I'm cleaning feathers in December though! 🤣
@@Huntingpros hey its free feathers to tie jigs for next mackerel season 😂
That’s how I remember mackerel fishing every trip out. This year hardly caught any in like 5 trips out 🤷♂️
It's definitely been a challenging year. I went out a few time myself and had pretty bad luck... This trip was the season exception!
I can’t wait to get out fishing once this hurricanes done
I know brother! Can't wait!!
Damn that’s a crazy amount of mackerel. Hoping I get a good day like that before they’re gone for the year
Yeah we definitely had a ton of success on this trip! Thanks for watching!👍
Great video😅
Thanks for watching!
I been catching them since I was a kid but about two weeks ago I actually tried eating them. Really good I found! Awesome vid. I’m going out early next month for some big ones ! F the city doesn’t blow away lol
They are definitely tasty! Big ones should be in come October! Hopefully we survive this big storm!
I really like Kendall’s song about mackerel! Will it be dropping on sound cloud and time soon?
Loooool
Seems like some places and some schools are good numbers and others are good size. Yesterday I caught 8 keepers in River Philip, 2 of them around 13 inches, and that was more than half the fish I caught all day. The other day I caught 10 undersize in a row. It's like they travel in groups by size. Did you say when this was shot? I didn't catch it. Lol "that's your brother!" I like to put little pieces of macker head on my sabiki rigs, it gives you a chance to catch stripers at the same time.
Haha I laughed when he made the brother comment. This was filmed late August, so just a couple weeks ago. They definitely do travel in size... Some schools have big fish... Some have smaller fish... Thanks for watching buddy!
Man… I haven’t caught that many since I was a kid…
Was definitely a great day on the sea!
Key point is location, where is it? 😂😅😅😅😅
I can’t give away all my secrets 🤣
That Kendall guy is flakey
Loool
I bet I could cast without catching a fish
Maybe... It would be hard with the amount of them out there....
Right?!?!?
