    2cm is a little low for the cap, its not good to plant the plants directly into the soil, rather let the roots find their way into the soil to absorb the nutrients on their own

    Hi sir, this is very beautiful! And a well made video. One peice of advice, I've made something similiar and I found that the cap on top of the soil needs to be thicker than the layer of soil. Otherwise over time the soil expands and goes into the water, which is not good.

    Im amazed that the plants are healthy even without co2, aeration or airpump or filter, would it be possible to put some fish without those things

      Betta can be put, you better be a filter for other fish

    you used normal garden soil?
    can i use vermi compost?
    any reason you replaced water after adding soil and sand for first 2 days?

      yes, I used normal garden soil, I did not try vermi compost, min 50% water change is necessary to remove the accumulation in the water. evet istabuldayım , teşekkürler

    Like, can I create a hill/ridge at the background and have a similar effect??? 🤔

      Good thing I asked, was not sure if this is the case with aquascaping - almost no one used support/walls in UA-cam tutorials 🤔🤔🤔

      It's been over a year but what I think they mean by support is in reference to the sand, if you build a hill of dirt and then put sand on top you run the risk of the sand just rolling down and exposing the dirt.
      Exposed dirt is BIG no no in Walstad tanks, because the rich dirt will leach many nutrients and chemicals to your water that would make life for fish and plants pretty much impossible.
      So that, keep the dirt capped with sand.

    How do you avoid getting biofilm on the top of the tank?

      If there is fluctuation on the water surface, it will go away over time.

      @@ceyhunderindere 4 cm? I was looking at contrasoil river stone. it's a little bigger than sand but similar. It is 3-5 mm. is this size okay to use? Did you mean 4mm?

      I mentioned the top layer as sand thickness, it would not be appropriate to use coarse grained sand, it should be fine grained sand​@@NoSmokeG

      Of course it can be added, but it should take 3-4 weeks for the bacterial culture to be fully formed.

    bro if i planting plants in gravel the roots will grow to organic substrate or planting in organic substrate .i put the plants into last organic substrate .the organic substrate starts to mix with water

      I made the error of an overly shallow soil cap and recently had to take that tank apart. Apparently a substrate depth of 2+ inches is more effective

      Also a more compact substrate may prevent leaching, i'm using sand

    The opening sequence show you using what you have called garden soil. To me it looks like commercial potting compost. Please can you tell me what you actually used and if you mixed up the soil can you tell me what you mixed together to get the final product?

      Use a plant soil sold in a package, garden soil can be risky

As a beginner to aquascaping I have been looking for helpful videos that are not all about the maker of the videos and how clever they are but good facts and details about what is used and how to create beautiful aquascapes. Your videos meet all my expectations and I am slowly working my way through them. Another very helpful thing is that you reply to questions. I have watched other videos on the subject and asked the video maker questions but never receive any replies. Keep up the good work. Your videos are great!

      plant soil causes excess mineral and element accumulation in the aquarium, we remove the excess with water changes second day

    how long do you have to wait until the water is OK? I started up a Walstad 20l cube. I am now in week 5 without water changes. but it has a high phosphate and I think 2nd nitrite peak. Do you also have a Facebook page or Questions forum?

      @@ceyhunderindere also during the start-up weeks? I do have a small filter in it that provides current in the aquarium. there is only a sponge pressed into it to keep the flow rate low. But after the start, just do a 30% water change every week?

    How far do you put the plants down in the substrate? Should they be touching the soil part or sand/gravel part? Some of mine I put all the way down to the bottom of tank and others like moss and smaller plants that I couldn’t put down all the way are sitting in the gravel/sand.

      bu sistemler kurulan akvaryuma tam anlamıyla bi akvaryum demek zor, evet işe yarıyor ama sürekliliği tartışılır
