I grew up on a Potato farm in Minnesota. We had a 2 row combine that had to be manned by 4 people to pick out the dirt clods and rocks ect. When my Dad was a kid they dug the potatos with a machine that dropped them on the ground. Then they picked them up by hand and put them in bushel baskets and covered the baskets with vines to prevent sunburn. Then they came with a flatbed wagon and picked up the baskets. Potato farmers didn't have fat belly's back then!
