I don't care where it's being used, what context it's in, or how much it's been edited... That clip of the dinosaur saying "ALAN!" never fails to make me laugh.
On the double disc special edition DVD there's a very well made and extremely interesting documentary called "Under Pressure: Making The Abyss". Highly recommended!
Hobbiton really is amazing. I've been there pre-Hobbit films, when you could walk inside the Hobbit holes (which were filled with sheep poop), and post-Hobbit, which is stunning and magical.
I actually found a few extra that I really debated about including, two that were already written and one in particular that was mostly edited that I ended up swapping out, so depending on the response to this one, I'll do another...and I promise it won't take me another 2 years ;)

It hasn't been until my recent visits to Universal had I noticed that the Lost World set was back there. Actually had the chance to run by it during the Jurassic 5k
The hobbit set was abandoned after while taking it down there was a massive down pour and became unsafe to work so what was originally left was a few of the house faces and a ribbon in the party tree.
Ohhh! So THAT'S why! The original ending for The Lost World Jurassic Park got turned into the board game, where you have to run through the Workers' Village to a Helicopter while being chased by velociraptors
Hey everybody! I'm actually from Gaffney, South Carolina (where the set of The Abyss is) and can answer questions about the site. Right now I am contacting many people on trying to gain access to the place. The actual site as show has been torn down but the giant warehouse used for filming the inside parts of the movie is still standing. I am hoping there is some stuff still in there to give to our local museum. But yeah, if you have any questions on the intricacies please ask away!
Really love your videos!! So I've got at least one great movie set for you to explore in part 3! In Port Townsend, WA is Fort Worden where the movie An Officer and a Gentleman was filmed. Many of the sets are still there, maintained by the fort, as well as the room at The Tides Inn that featured prominently in the film. The Inn still has the room, now designated as the Officer and a Gentleman suite. Totally surprising to me, though, is that they filmed the decompression chamber scene in the basement of one of the barracks! And the set was just left standing and is still there. I found that the door to the basement when I was there was unlocked, so I was able to go in and take pictures. I can send them to you along with the pictures I took of other sets used for filming if you'd like. Just let me know!
Would love a part 3 stuff like this fascinates me. It is interesting to learn about these sets and why they where left behind. If you don’t have enough movie sets for a part 3 maybe you could do TV sets? Or you could do a whole other series on TV sets if you have enough I would definitely watch that.
The bummer part is the set has been removed but, the log cabin from the falls lake is now in its place. Oh yea push button falls is optional again 🤗 You do great work love the videos keep them coming
I used to work at USH in production. I visited the Jurassic Park set many times. The second to last time I visited it I walked around and admired the work that was put into the set as my contract was close to ending. I went back that same week and the whole building had collapsed in itself. In 2019 they tore it all down and cleaned up the entire section. Now it's a picnic area for employees to go and enjoy their lunches. It's a small lake and the push button waterfall runs in the background.
Do you know if anything was inside the building when it collapsed and was taken down? And if you do know, do you know what they did with the things inside? I love the Jurassic Park franchise and it’s sad to hear of it being torn down.
im so happy im from New Zealand and still live here. One time at school camp we were going up to the Remarkables Ski place in Queens town and our bus driver told us which mountain a scene from Lord Of The Rings was filmed
I enjoy your videos. I would love to see one on the abandoned features of Fort Wilderness at Disney World. There's abandoned train tracks running through the camp ground, River Country, Discovery Island, the beach where you used to be able to swim. I'm sure there's plenty of things like that at the other resorts as well.
I never knew about Speilberg filming in Gaffney that is cool and you showed my local news station channel 7 wspa sad its gone but sometimes i understand the cleanup part
I really liked the first abandoned sets video and the one on lost and found props. I honestly haven't found videos on these subjects as good as yours. You say there are loads of videos out there... but not of this quality.
