    Thank u so much, just came back from a trip in Fukuoka it was beautiful, as u said the beaches are great and so are the cafes! I also got a chance to check out kyushu university but sadly since I went on a Sunday everything was closed, got to roam around the outside though and learned how to get there 😁💪. The school is way bigger than it looks on pictures, I was pretty surprised. Hopefully i’ll be here next year (I’m class of 2025 hoping to do aerospace engineering). Thanks so much once again - Ashmita :)

      That's so awesome!! I am so glad that you were able to experience those! It's a shame everything was closed, but at least it wasn't crowded haha! I wish you the best of luck in getting here! I know you'll be able to do it, and I know you'll have such a great time here :D

    Thank you for the informative video as usual . One question i would really appreciate if you would answer is , say if i apply for a masters program in kyushu uni , do i need to apply for the scholarship of mext separately ? or is it just awarded to the students automatically if the have a good academic resume ? i wanna study there by applying to MEXt hopefully next year so , if you see this comment please show me the light !

    Thank you so much for the video. Quick question: If we pass the secondary screening, will they also give us questions about math/physics/chem outside personal questions? Because I'm scared that I couldn't answer it.. (for engineering program)

    • @JakeyInJapan
      @JakeyInJapan  2 місяці тому

      Fortunately, no subject related questions are asked! Just make sure you know what you wrote in your personal statement and what your motivations are and you'll be fine! Of course, this may change over the years, but I imagine the interview process will likely not change much. Best of luck to you!!

      I'm planning to enroll at the Kyushu University IUPE program majoring in civil engineering next January. I've been preparing all the docs including competition certificates since then.. I hope I'll also become a part of Kyushu Univ just like you next year! 😔

    Hey Jake, how is it in terms of study pressure at kyushu? Do you have to be attending every single class or are you able to go away for a week? I want to go back home with christmas but probably will have classes to late december

    • @JakeyInJapan
      @JakeyInJapan  2 місяці тому

      You definitely will have a strict attendance policy, but so long as you attend your classes until Christmas and let your professor know before you leave, you won't have a problem! I actually did the same thing, leaving halfway through one of my classes to go to the airport to go home for Christmas! One of my classes actually agreed to have class on zoom so I could attend from the US. It was a Japanese language course, so we had a lot of flexibility with it. I did have to miss others, though. Depending on which courses you'll be missing, your experience may vary. A few absences are more than okay, though! I think three is generally the limit

    Quick question, do you know whats the daily schedule like for freshmen in engineering? Like how many classes/hours a day, or if there's breaks in between? Thx in advance

    • @JakeyInJapan
      @JakeyInJapan  2 місяці тому

      The daily schedule will certainly vary for each student, so it's tough to give a proper answer as far as breaks/hours/etc go, but you can find examples of schedules for each academic year on their website! I'll link it below for you!

    I was wondering if JLPT will help me in applying? I understand it isn't required, but will it help my application be favored? I'm pretty confident I can pass N4 with a bit of studying, but idk if its worth it.

    • @JakeyInJapan
      @JakeyInJapan  2 місяці тому

      Unfortunately it won't help. The entire program is in English, so all that matters is either you are a native English speaker or have a high score for an English proficiency test. I wish the JLPT helped, though.. If you do want to take it, take it in Japan! It's much cheaper here, so a lot of my friends did it!

  • @zap9908

    did you need any japanese proficiency before coming to the school when applying? if so at what level?

    • @JakeyInJapan
      @JakeyInJapan  3 місяці тому

      No Japanese proficiency needed at all! In fact, a lot of the friends I made here had never studied Japanese before! I would highly recommend learning as much as you can, though, as it will greatly improve your experience here! :)

    Hey Jake, when did you arrive in Japan and what was the date on your visa for entry in japan?
    I got my student visa and it says that I can enter anytime starting from 23 August. I want to arrive in Tokyo on 10 Sep and go to Fukuoka on 18 Sep. Can immigration deny entry at Tokyo because I come too early even though it is allowed by the visa? I can show reservations for the 1 week hotel stay in Tokyo, if needed? I will check into my Uni dorm on 18th Sep.

    • @JakeyInJapan
      @JakeyInJapan  Місяць тому

      Hello!! The entry date on my visa was Aug 23 as well, but I entered Japan on September 19. The only reason I came that day was because it was the first day I was allowed in the dorms. Plenty of my friends arrived early and traveled/stayed in other locations, so you're completely okay! However, upon entry, you will need to specify where you will be staying and provide an address, so I would definitely show them that reservation! I'm excited for you, man! It's coming up soon! Best of luck!!!

      @@JakeyInJapan hey really thanks for your reply. Thanks for taking out the time to get back again and again for my questions. If I arrive in tokyo on 10th sep and show them the hotel reservation from 10th to 18th, will that be sufficient. Did you know someone who was successfully able to enter early? I really don't wanna get deported 😭

    • @JakeyInJapan
      @JakeyInJapan  Місяць тому

      @@amansharma2870 No problem! Sorry I was a few days late! Yes, that should be perfectly fine! And yeah, I think 2 or 3 of my friends came early and stayed in Tokyo or traveled around during their time before the dorms were available! Even if the worst case scenario happens, you always have a 90 day tourist visa. I accidentally cancelled my visa when I went to Thailand, so I had to get a tourist visa and then another student visa when I returned to Japan. The staff is so nice and helpful too, so you'll be fine! Your visa is active anyways; go enjoy yourself, man!

    • @amansharma2870
      @amansharma2870 Місяць тому +1

      @@JakeyInJapan I think the 90 day tourist visa is not for my country (india) so I can only enter on my student visa. Well, I also believe there should be no problems. I will see if it's possible to go to tokyo first.

      @JakeyInJapan  2 місяці тому +1

      I tried looking around their website a little bit and couldn't find anything indicating whether or not they would. I would imagine so long as you have standardized test scores like SAT or ACT, you should be okay to apply!
