Me too. When Perk told that story of Zion taking 2 pizzas up to his room at the Combine I think most people laughed but I just felt sad.
It's almost like he doesn't want it, and that's such ashame cause he's not a bad dude.

Zion is a big momma's boy and it's clear that he's easily influenced by the people around him. You have to remember Zion said this at the draft he would have stayed in college for another year if could but he couldn't pass up the opportunity. Zion has a shoe by Jordan and it doesn't seem to be popular. He was given the world without doing anything in the league.

Perk right before you spoke after listening to Swagu. I said this dude is shying away from the spotlight. I believe he can't handle pain management. I then found he's a Cancer! I thought what's his Zodiac, let me look so I can get a better idea of how his mind works. They're one of the most emotional signs of the zodiac. With all water signs if thing's aren't going well, they can easily slip into a negative spiral. Because they make all their decisions and act with how they feel first. He's still very young, Perk you mentioned that pressure. You're right and not everyone is made for that. He probably wasn't happy on that team either. Then with his foot injury, his whole career is based on his athleticism. His mobility at his size is also what's made him incredible. So maybe feeling that pain, at that weight and then thinking man.. This is how this feels, maybe I can't play how I want to play anymore. I've never felt like anyone has genuinely needed a therapist more than Zion right now. That's no knock at him at all, I'm a Scorpio. I'm very emotionally charged and affected by emotion so easily. It's taken me a long time in life at time's to deal with failures. Any type of negative feelings and depression slumps were a real often occurrence at time's. Maybe he feels defeated with managing his weight. Then worried about if he will break it again. Or possibly something worse, what's in his pyschy right now? Y'all said he's not talking and the only time I'm not talking. Is because I need my alone time to gather my thoughts. Or I'm feeling down and it can be a hard road to get back up. When I feel this way, I begin to isolate myself for a long time. It can be hard to get back up and feel happiness again. He's had so much attention when he was young and how Swag said, "he needs to stop being a baby." He still feels as if he is that young kid and it's almost as if now that he's technically "made it." He's not wanting all the hype and maybe part of him want's to lower everyone's expectations of him. So he can get back to feeling like himself. To not feel that demand of him. He's obviously going through some serious emotions. I can see it by the look in his eye's, facial expressions. He's not ready to take on that pro level responsibility yet. I feel there are more than a few reason's in why he's feeling/acting this way right now. I can promise you, as a water sign. He's also going to take all criticisms very hard and straight to the heart. Could Zion even be "Zion" if he couldn't, or didn't want to jump anymore?? To not want, or feel physically able to keep up that level of athleticism with his body as it is?? He'd have to re-figure his whole game as to scoring without his athleticism. Who know's what he's dealing with in his personal life also, with family and friends. I'm sure everyone is trying to get at him. The fact he's not even talking is worrisome. Everyone being very frustrated with him and even though JJ isn't wrong. He's not someone that would see that as constructive criticism. Or that JJ is only saying it because he sees Zions potential. JJ is right, yet not everyone is that same kind of person. Or better yet, has matured into being that kind of person yet. It would definitely be sad to see someone of his talent lose out on what could have been a tremendous, high paying career.. All because he's not able to get his mind right and push himself. I wish him the best of luck and I hope to see him fully recover. We need to see you play and we miss you Zion!

Grew up in a DC housing project. We attached a hoop to an electrical pole embedded in asphalt that separated one row of project housing from another. The pole also had a cable attacted to the ground which helped support it. You had to be accurate and nimble to avoid that wire. I spent so much time out there I would skip meals and my moms had to send my sisters to get me or she would yell from our place that was a little higher up. I would go to a playground a ways away in the mornings during the summers and wouldn't come back until dark. Dave Bing played over there. Although a child, I insisted on playing on the same court with him and the big boys. Lenny Bias, who was born when I was almost 10, parents lived in those projects. One of his uncles told me I was going to make it to the NBA. Life's realities kicked in, and the streets called. Not only did I play with and against Bing but I saw Elgin Baylor. When we moved, Austin Carr, Sid Catlett, Adrian Dantley, Kenny Carr and CBS sport's James Brown played regularly there. There were lots of players who could hang with the superstars and in some cases were better. John Thompson even made a few appearances. Most of the players didn't make it because of attitude issues, academic issues, vices, work ethics. We became still talked about Street hoop Legends, but that's about it. I forgot to mention running da ladies and crime. The local jails and prisons had the best ballers on planet Earth. My soul was burning inside when I heard this podcast. Keep keeping it real, maybe some youngins will take heed. This is a long one, I will take it down in a few days. Hopefully some young person will read my story. I'm going on 68 and it's too late...😟

"Spare the rod, you spoil the child." Zion is pouting, only because his parents gave into him when things didn't go his way. I remember complaining to my mother, about issues at my job. She listened attentively and then looked me in the eyes sternly and politely said, " Shut up and do your work to the best of your ability." She said your attitude is part of your work, those people did not force you to agree to taking the job. I knew Zion parents didn't tell him the truth. They even voiced their disgruntled attitude to the media. This reinforced Zion not maturing into the realities of how the real adult world works. Great talent but, personally I would have traded him immediately. The Pelican organization and the city of New Orleans did nothing to him, but gave him a contract, that he agreed to and respect. Too spoiled and self centered. That's a poison in the locker room. Trade him.

This is what happens when companies and teams gives these KIDS millions of dollars and expect them to try or care. Most of these kids never had a job before coming into the league and you expect them to know responsibility. Zion has barely been in the league but he's already set for life just off of sponsorship money alone so if money is his goal then he really has no reason to try. The reason why the older players had a better mentality is because back then you didn't start out making millions. You had to work for a good contract.

Very good points made about players in small markets who took advantage of their opportunities and are now superstars. Ja Morant and Giannis are great examples. LeBron is also a great example. Yes, LeBron played on other teams, but he created his relevancy in Cleveland, and Zion needs to do the same thing. You can make more powerful moves after you show what you're made of.

No one said leave the team..and not workout with the team. People were saying seek more help outside of the team...simply saying, Zion needs more work than what the team can give him ...he’s out of shape

that's not why anybody is calling him a bad teammate, and he shouldn't have to go across the country to get in shape in the first place.

Regardless there's something about that franchise that he wants to get out that's why he's doing this , same thing with Chris Paul, AD and now Zion, plain and simple, remember when AD shut everybody out , exactly

These aren't comparable. Chris paul was there for 6 years and never had a good team built around him. Anthony Davis was there for 7 years and had a good team around him one time. Zion has been there 3 years and he already has a really good team around him.
