I own a Walther PDP steel frame compact. I totally agree with you. Aside from a 1911 9mm or a CZ Shadow 2, this PDP shoots flat and soft. And it's a compact! It's a fav, for sure!
You easily gave us the best, most unfiltered coverage on SHOT I've seen this year. Almost everything else was just general product overviews and letting the reps hit their talking points. Thanks for putting in the hard work!

Awesome video. Number 1, your wife is gorgeous and you guys complete each other. (2) since early 2019, I bought a Glock 19x (G45) and shot 4k rounds with no issues, then, I mated it with a 19 long slide and ran another 2k rounds. As soon as I mounted an RMR the pistol's cycle of operation started to malfunction. My Duty Gun is a G19 MOS with a Trijicon since 2020, again so issues at all. I took them both to the defunct Glock Store in San Diego and they ran it too. We concluded that a G23 heavy Tungsten slide guide rod fixed it immediately. 3 years later and over 12k rounds through it, I call it a win.
Thanks, man! It was great having her at SHOT with me 👍 And thanks for sharing your Glock experience. It’s funny how one little thing can throw just one Glock completely out of whack.
Not sure if you stopped by the PSA booth but those dudes are nailing it they have a bunch of prototypes there and you can vote on which one you want to see come to market 1st there is an MP 7 sort of PDW that could be cool but what I was really excited about were the new JAKL variants one in 308 and another on a Bullpup lower in 5.56 I want both of those but a bullpup jakl in 300 blk would be a huge seller and a great suppressor host. I love shot Show I’m going to try and talk my boss into going next year and brining me along just for a goof
PSA had the best booth at all of SHOT. If PSA was at range day and I could have shot their guns, I probably would have been more excited 👍 But they easily had the most hype!
I love 32 h&R, good power, extra round in the cylinder, ad unlike 38 j frames, pleasant to shoot so I enjoy practicing with it. With 32 long it can be shot all day, with h&r it's still more pleasant than 38. The ultimate carry dresses my biggest criticism by putting on real sights. The chamfered charge holes is nice too. Ive found j frames to be much more reliable and less finicky than pocket autos in 380 and the such. @@Shadow__133
Tisas. Probably the best 1911 builder at any price point below $2k. Been shooting 1911s since I was a teen age California surfer hippie and all the way thru my career in the Army as a 18a. Hard pressed to pry my Gold Cup or Commander out of my hand. But the Tisas from top to bottom is the equal of every 1911 on the market and far less expensive head to head. A double stack, 4.5 inch barrel, with red dot cut out included, and series 70 works, for $700 and you call it “fine”? Fine as frog hair would be more accurate. Other than that, for a red star wearing Bolshevik, you did an ok job.
My friend got a NIB Tisas Army 1911a1 in 2020. The ⚓️ was total junk. Broke 2x with no range use! Would I buy a Tisas? No. I would add newer 2024 look decent but I'm not impressed with that model.
I had a less than stellar experience with my first Tisas, but I will be getting the MAC to give them a second chance. I’m always open to trying things and changing my opinion, so maybe I’ll come around just yet 👍 On paper, it is incredible. But the proof is in the pudding. Regardless, I’m glad you enjoyed despite my hesitation around Tisas 👍
@@DavidLLambertmobile so to recap. You offer no evidence of expertise, and nothing but second hand claims that your supposed “friend” claims to have broken his firearm prior to getting to the range. Now is that impossible? No. If your friend was an idiot and used it as a hammer or tried to take it apart with training or proper tools, possibly. More than likely your post is just another xenophobic hater at work.
@@NightwoodGuns early Tisas striker fire clones were “interesting” and very picky in the ammunition they word take. The 1911s not so much. I have fired multiple variants of the Tisas 1911. Standard maintenance, routine cleanings, and never ever over lube, all keys to successfully running any 1911. Or at least that is what I taught thousands of soldiers when I was an instructor at the Army Marksmanship course.
Excellent coverage sir. I am very interested in the Stealth Arms Platypus, since I heard of them it's been attractive, but with all the cool new options, I mean, very exciting new stuff!
I love classic and antique guns, that blued Colt Python is beautiful, I still want a revolver in my collection but I only have range time with a POS Taurus and a S&W 29
i haven’t followed this channel long, but really appreciate the shot’24 coverage; always interesting and insightful a few thoughts on this recap: i’m glad you’re not a communist, (forgive me) your wife is stunning, wheel guns always deserve air time, and i’ll be looking for your next installment; grateful
I walked so much during the show my legs still hurt. It was quite a turn out for manufacturers. I was surprised some of the well known manufacturers of optics (such as DI Optics - who actually has military contracts) had such a tiny little booth at a corner where nobody looked at. But they had the thermo heavy optic sight - one that was actually used during the Somali pirate takedown on display for everyone to take a look.
I didn’t even see them 🤦♂️😂 But yeah, I walked 500 miles, and then I walked 500 more. Crazy year and the biggest turnout yet. I’m just glad I dodged any SHOT Show illnesses 😮💨
Thank you for your video, Brett! I have narrowed my search down to Stealth Arms Platypus, Staccato P, or the Bul Armory Tac II. My reservation with Bul Armory is the MIM components. I really liked what I saw so far on the Platypus. I sent the company an email to determine if I could subsitute the coating from Ceracote to DLC and get a larger grip for my hands. Stealth Arms website is a game changer. What are your thoughts on the Staccato P versus the Platypus?
They are both phenomenal. The Staccato with its DLC finish is hard to beat and it is softer shooting because of the polymer grip (absorbs and flexes with recoil) But the Stealth Arms is a bargain for what you get and the customization is amazing. I think it depends on what magazine ecosystem you want to be in: 2011 or Glock (or Bul 😅)
I get why you might say Tisas is fine, but I have to say that I have a Tisas PX9 gen 2 that I have put around 5k rounds thru without one fail with all kinds of ammo. Maybe I got lucky, but it is a very flat shooter and has performed better that several of my high dollar guns. I would 100% trust my life with it. Maybe you should get one and see how it does.
Glad you’ve been enjoying the channel! 👍 I wouldn’t worry about the haters so much if they weren’t mass reporting my videos and getting my channel demonetized. It seems the gun community likes eating their own.
@@NightwoodGuns That’s so sad to hear Brother. Just like the car community, the 2A community can be toxic as well. It amazes me that instead of helping each other out, they are reporting your channel.

Their TPR9 held it's own against two more expensive in my full size DA/SA battle. I did a livestream yesterday on new releases and alluded to your revolver vid
Nice, man 👍 And yeah, Glocks are frequently choking on badge cams. People lose fights because of it. It doesn’t take much to stop it up if you don’t have a perfect grip.
Apparently it runs a can just fine 🤷♂️ They have people with surprising resumes testing these things for them. Lots of stuff I can’t say from people I shouldn’t have met 😂
I hear ya, I really do. I had a well-fit Tisas that was a jam-fest. And the replacement had sloppy fit/finish. I’m sure I just got unlucky, but I will be giving them another chance with the MAC. Again, I never said they were bad 🤷♂️
I was pretty disappointed with the pricing of the Watchtower Apache. The limited edition pewview was 3600 and standard edition is 3990. Pretty big miss. I was hoping for an XC contender at a lower price point closer to 3k.
New Sub. Great content, that I saw. Yeah, a lot of people need to take Chill Pills and not get so upset about a, literal, word. Good luck with the books & keep on gunnin'...
I don’t own a Tisas but I have watched numerous reviews on different models and I will definitely be buying one. I think the people that own them might have been upset with your comments for two reasons: 1- you were talking down the brand in general and the new double stack in particular never having fired one. There are zero cast or MIM parts in any Tisas. 2- you were talking up the Bersa 1911, a company well known for producing crap, which does have MIM parts, also without shooting it
Yeah. It was the total shrugging and judging it before even shooting it. I also noticed that it was the only gun he talked about in the vid but didn’t even pick up in the footage. It was like he only talked about it to dismiss it. Dude has a total bias to the brand(or maybe the Country) and it shows. The thing is, though, thats Fine! Every gun guy is like that lol. He reserves that right. Im almost sure wouldn’t have even looked twice at the Tisas booth if not for his followers asking him to. Which means he listens to his base. So dudes alright w/ me.
@@HammersOverStrikers The problem with it, is the price point... there is only one way to get there, and that is cutting literally every corner. It's made by someone making $2.78/hr. Average worker in Turkey, TRY10,008/mo There's no QC... YOU are the QC. MIM throughout... questionable origin steel on the frame, slide, barrel, firing pin. The Springfield Prodigy is the cheapest you can put out a 2-piece double stack 1911. And even they had growing pains at first. The Armscor RIA TacOPS DS is the cheapest 1-piece double stack 1911. Parts quality / labor quality / QC... any lower in price than those two pistols, you lose one of the three.
These were just first impressions. I will be getting and shooting both to see for myself. I had a less than stellar first experience with Tisas, but I’m open to giving them a second chance with the MAC. I truly hope it impresses! 👍 Still, kind of a silly thing to get upset about.
@@HammersOverStrikers I really appreciate your level-headedness! I didn’t get footage of it because my battery died, but I did hold it and talk to the rep about it for a half hour. My first impression is that it is “fine” Fit/finish and ergos were all fine. Which is what I would expect in that price point. But, I will be getting one for the channel and I genuinely hope it impresses as far as performance/reliability goes 👍 As far as my bias, my first Tisas was a less than stellar experience which led to my bias against the brand. But I am always open to trying new things and giving second chances. I love being proven wrong and changing my POV. That’s why I’m 100% picking up the MAC 👍

@@livefreeprintguns Absolutely 😂👍 I feel like some people don’t get it though 😅
@@NightwoodGuns Haters gon hate. 💅
Thought you did a great job of your coverage of shot show .
Keep up the great work you do on your channel !!
Thanks! I’m so glad you enjoyed 😎👍
My pocket carry is a 432 pd. Now I want the 32 mag ultimate carry. Hopefully the ammo becomes more available.
Why?
I love 32 h&R, good power, extra round in the cylinder, ad unlike 38 j frames, pleasant to shoot so I enjoy practicing with it. With 32 long it can be shot all day, with h&r it's still more pleasant than 38. The ultimate carry dresses my biggest criticism by putting on real sights. The chamfered charge holes is nice too. Ive found j frames to be much more reliable and less finicky than pocket autos in 380 and the such. @@Shadow__133
mongoose and platypus are my top picks. but that psa x57 hk mp7 clone...
Agreed! And I’m excited to see how the PSA mp7 turns out. It was a very rough mockup at SHOT, but it definitely piqued my interest 👍
Absolutely love the Revi ear pro, dude!
Thanks, man! 😂👍
I’m 100% getting one when the new updates are available and I can’t wait to test it on the channel 👍
I love classic and antique guns, that blued Colt Python is beautiful, I still want a revolver in my collection but I only have range time with a POS Taurus and a S&W 29
Agreed! 😎👍
Really enjoyed your Shot Show coverage.
I’m glad to hear it! 😎👍
The custom coloring you can do on stealth arms was awesome.
Yes. But it's a gimmick. ANY gun can be painted.
Don't fall for lipstick on a pig.
Yeah, you can do funky stuff with it and their online builder makes it super easy 👍
That's a FINE REVIEW , THANKS BRETT
I’m glad you enjoyed 😎👍
The Sabre dagger has me very interested. Did they indicate any price range?!?
Not yet… but I’m definitely interested as well!
@@NightwoodGuns do you think the aftermarket parts, like the trigger, will make it unreliable for concealed carry?
@@jasonfazio3535 It should be fine, but I don’t trust anything for carry until I’ve put a significant round count through it. 👍
Your grind paid off - put your videos on my feed
Not gonna lie, I worked really hard. So, I’m genuinely glad to hear it 👍
@@NightwoodGuns I can tell. Good job
@@theblacklines 😎👍
So funny, I saw that on your hand but realized it was an access stamp in about 15sec.
You must be a super genius to have deduced that 😂
i haven’t followed this channel long, but really appreciate the shot’24 coverage; always interesting and insightful
a few thoughts on this recap: i’m glad you’re not a communist, (forgive me) your wife is stunning, wheel guns always deserve air time, and i’ll be looking for your next installment; grateful
Thanks all around! 🙏 I’m so glad you enjoyed!
Hand stamps at events were around since FOREVER! Great reporting!
😂👍 I’m glad you enjoyed the coverage!
@@NightwoodGuns - thank you!
I might just have to give it a shot 👍
Great recap on Shot Show 2024! Thanks for posting.
I’m glad you enjoyed! 👍
The .32 j frame is the only gun I've been excited for in the last 15yrs. Hopefully they keep it around and it's not just a limited run.
Yeah, it was such an exciting announcement! 😎👍
Please check out the Grand Power X-Calibur Match MK23 it supposedly shoots better than a CZ Shadow 2
I’ll look into it. You aren’t the first person to bring that up 👍 Might be worth checking out!
Does the Platypus point like a 1911 or a Glock? Or somewhere in between?
Right in-between 👍
good video ,great channel.
Thanks! I’m glad you’ve been enjoying the channel 👍
Love your channel Brother. Don’t worry about the haters!
@@Mountain_Soldier Yep, 100% And it’s all because I showed that G49 malfunction. I even linked someone else at SHOT that had the same issue in the comments. But, it is what it is 🤷♂️ Just sad, like you said. I appreciate the support though, man 👍
People can't get mad when you telling the truth thank you for telling the truth and how you feel. It's how you feel and that's it

You just shocked the hell out of me by telling me that shot show is a gun-free zone! So much for being pro 2A! He won't see me there anytime soon.
Pretty crazy, eh? 😅
Great job!

I love this channel
Happy to hear it! 😎👍
Your wife needs her own channel. More women representing the 2A community.
I always encourage her to hop into the 2A space whenever it is in alignment for her 👍 At the very least I’m sure she can appear as a guest on this channel to offer a different perspective in future videos!
Blocks could never jam! Funny watch some Police OIS when they are shooting one hand often working Microphone and you'll see it so heavier slide smaller recoil spring yeah (or gen 4 w wml guess they don't remember that). Don't apologize for honest assessments. I'd like a contact for Bersa their Micro I want to review and if they get a Commander w shiny slide. Their TPR9 held it's own against two more expensive in my full size DA/SA battle. I did a livestream yesterday on new releases and alluded to your revolver vid
Nice, man 👍 And yeah, Glocks are frequently choking on badge cams. People lose fights because of it. It doesn’t take much to stop it up if you don’t have a perfect grip.
number 1 is spot on. Why, they are introducing a factory 357 Sig variant.
Absolutely 🙌
I don't even own a P365 but I'm gonna buy one just to get the Radian barrel and comp setup
I’m tellin’ ya, it was impressive 👍
New to the channel. You know that you have made it on UA-cam when you start getting the haters. Keep up the good work.
That’s a good point! 😂👍 Thanks!
If you get another P365 be sure to get the Tactical Trigger kit, it makes the p365 amazing, along with the Radian setup it would be ridiculous.
Will do! Thanks for the recommendation 👍
I'm not even a da/sa fan, but I think I might have to have one of the Langdon tactical px4 pistols this year.
I think it is going to be one of the best da/sa guns in history. The only thing wrong with it is a lack of grip texture.
Do you see there being an issue supressing the nemo arms mongoose with the recoil system it uses?
Apparently it runs a can just fine 🤷♂️ They have people with surprising resumes testing these things for them. Lots of stuff I can’t say from people I shouldn’t have met 😂
Blued Pythons are absolutely necessary for the City Hunter larp.
Yes, 100% 😂🙌
As a Glock hater myself I’m proud of you
😂 I don’t hate anything, but after all of the hate I’ve been getting from Glock fanboys… I’ll take any allies I can get 😅
I run a Tisas 45 commander with Ed brown bob tail. It shoots great. Period. And only $500. Lay off.
Exactly I don’t think he really understands that your getting a smoking deal on very good quality 1911
Yeah, at the end of the day the XC is probably still the smartest choice in this configuration.

For me the PDP line has always felt snappy. Interesting to hear that the compact version is less so.
Specifically the steel frame 👍 It very much surprised me.
Average worker in Turkey, TRY10,008/mo
There's no QC...
But, I will be getting one for the channel and I genuinely hope it impresses as far as performance/reliability goes 👍
As far as my bias, my first Tisas was a less than stellar experience which led to my bias against the brand. But I am always open to trying new things and giving second chances. I love being proven wrong and changing my POV. That’s why I’m 100% picking up the MAC 👍

Tisas uses a hammer forged barrel and zero MIM or cast parts. Bersa uses MIM, no idea on their barrel.
Bersa just never made a lot of variants , it was mainly 380 , and they had a 9
