This is the best video you’ve ever done. Love that you kept both angles of your shot on repeat on the right side as you were explaining everything too. Very helpful. Excellent content, Tig!

I would add that if you have an impact bag, it will make what he’s saying even stronger. I can feel the power at the bottom and how the swing accelerates to the bag.

The man says "I'm not a teacher" and explains for 10:00 minutes the easiest explanation to create speed and power in a golf swing...perfectly. Tig, this is an excellent video. It "clicked" for me, when I saw the stop on your down swing, and then saw the swing on repeat. You can see every single thing you are talking about. This video deserves to be watched by any one who wants to improve their golf game.

I couldn't agree more. I think he just meant he's not a polished trainer, but who cares. We like him more because he's not. This is best video I've seen on hitting further. The fundamentals are everywhere on the internet, but this part is the hardest to explain but he did a great job.

By far the best driver tutorial I've watched. Didn't over complicate it or explain the swing as a 20 step process. Watched this video a couple days ago, and went to the range today. Best day at the range I've ever had. My swing finally has that whip it was missing, and as someone else said, it finally all "clicked." Truly helped improve my swing in just one quick session at the range. Wanted to come back and give a simple thank you, Micah!

A revelation for me was 1. the first tip you mentioned: stability with your lower half. Legs stay bent through the swing and are always in balance. Hips do not thrust at the ball. After that the next revelation was 2. Extending your right arm fully at the bottom of the swing where you make contact with the ball. That mindset makes you realize you have to have your hips turned quite a bit at impact or else you’ll hit it fat. So, thinking right arm fully extended at the bottom and you’ll naturally make the right moves to make that happen. Great video!

Micah - I ran across your video while searching how to get more distance with EVERY golf club. I thank the stars above for directing me to your video! I started golfing at the age of 70 -have taken lessons from every teacher in my area & no one has helped me with more distance or topping the ball. I have increased my driver loft from 12.5 to 14.5 (Big Bertha Reva) hoping that would give me more loft. The simple explanation you give on "cracking the bullwhip" when hitting the ball turned a light on in my brain. I have since lowered my driver loft to the standard 12.5 & had one of my best games ever yesterday using ALL of your tips. Thank you, Thank you & Thank you again.

Amazing. I'm middle aged. I played baseball growing up and always tried to swing from the start of the backswing with full power. Tig telling me to "whip" the club at the end instead and HOLY CRAP. I just hit my target 8/10 times with a very loud snap, but 2 of them also pressed the target hard enough to put net lines in it. Can't wait to hit the range to try this!!!

Me too. Something clicked with this video. I was thinking something must be missing. I was always trying to go fast from the top of my swing, but realised from this video that I need to whip it at the bottom of the swing. This has just changed everything for my golf.

I think Rory has talked about him working on this himself, with NOT trying to hinge his wrist and just creating width. So, his early wrist hinge is probably something that he works on NOT doing too much of. He's Rory, like you said, it's really not something that obviously bothers his clubhead speed too much. Thanks for the awesome lesson, I am 58yrs old, and this is something that I am discovering. There is a feeling of a snap, as you say, a whip, a sudden change in direction, and also the hands seem to feel a pull at the bottom and go from slightly lower place to a higher place at impact. Hard to describe with words. This is one of the best lessons I've ever seen on UA-cam....on any subject, not just golf.

Thank you so much. I am 56 yrs old, started playing at 13. I am a lefty, but got dad's hand me down righty clubs and was damn glad I got them. After 40+ years and with some aches n pains, I switched to lefty 2 years ago. I am very athletic for my age and I think young, so I am relearning golf as a lefty. I shoot high 80's to low 90's as a righty and I believe with today's video you blessed us with I can shoot in the high 80's again. I am mid nineties currently with a couple dozen rounds at lefty. I practice your method and it works for me and made a big difference. I will never be a great golfer, but I think I can do something now that not that many people can do, is in ones life shoot 90's from both sides. Thank you..

I shoot from both sides.. I'm a righty who learned lefty and then switched for more control. Lefty i can smash the ball but i can't aim as well.. righty i end up on my back foot a lot and have a much slower swing speed but the feel is better... happy hitting!

Confession here. Prior to this video, because Tig and I have such similar builds, I completely modeled my swing after his. Focusing a lot on the one piece take away you mentioned and also the compact backswing while really trying to compress the ball. Was huge for the program in terms of consistency, not to mention distance. Thanks TIG!

Micah, this is the most clear, concise, and best explanation I have ever heard explaining the driver swing. My two big takeaways: 1. Slow is Fast, Fast is Far. Thinking about my best drives over the past few months, they were drives that I pretty much swung as slowly as I could, and maintained width. 2. Where you develop speed, and even more importantly the centripetal force effect of the release from P6, as you extend the left leg, increasing speed. I've been having a hard time "timing" the left leg part, and typically extend it too soon. Off to practice now!!! p.s. Your swing really reflects the "slow is fast"' axiom... great tempo... smooth acceleration.

Great video! I need to find this technique again, I’ve had moments of it in the past but loose it quickly, it feels like more club speed with less swing.
It’s the holy grail and you should do more videos on this same thing with even slower slow motion footage, everyone should see this.
It always shocks me how in control (and look slow) your swing looks but be able to produce such huge club head speed, really wish I can learn this “magic”!

added that whip at the bottom on the range today while concentrating on smoothing the rest of the swing really helped calmed down a few issues I've been struggling with and I was bombing straight consistently. The grouping on the face on the center was interesting as well. Looking forward to adding a bit more crouch and spring in further sessions. I'm a small guy myself and have been averaging 290 this summer off the tee with regular drives in the 310 to 320 range...if these little tweaks help get me up to a 300 average with 320-330 on occasion, I'll be stoked. Micahs legs and powerful athletic stance also generate such huge distance for a normal sized guy. Great info vid. It doesn’t take much size to hit the ball long (long as in 280-315 yards, obviously hitting 330+ requires combo of pure mechanics, power, and athleticism)

Good video man. I been feeling more of my hip popping up on my shots and its translating to more distance. This explained what's happening pretty well. Now i gotta practice this more. Also the easy swing is definitely giving me more distance and more playable second shots

I'm 5'10, 133 pounds and I average between 300 and 310. I understand completely what you're describing. Alot of people won't be able to pick up on it because of the feel and real mishap unless they video themselves and try to match somewhat to what you're doing, plus end results. I'd like more speed and distance but I don't know how much more I can get being so light and little muscle. Lol.

I see very subtle details in your swing you do very good. I think it’s very crucial to have a good backswing. You take it away a bit or good way over the hands/ plane and don’t roll your hands in. From top the club falls right under the plane. How would you describe the right sequence to first push in the ground and the let body and last hands club follow to let the hands club fall. Thx

Totally awesome Tig. I kept wondering, where your distance came from. Now...hoerrah, thank you so much, fantastic vid.
