I have the new 230i in base form. It’s missing the built in garage door opener and lumbar support in power seats. I can live without the HUD. However if BMW provides a manual with these missing features in a 230 I’d trade!
We tested various modes, but demonstrating all of them on camera would be redundant and not have changed the outcome and points made really. Too granular. It's a good car and scored well regardless of which mode.
I ordered an M sport with dynamic handling and brimbo brakes, deleted the sun roof to save money and the car came in at $42k. If you go easy on the options it is actually a performance bargain. Just a few thousand more than a Elantra N but infinitely better. It is a bargain by an amazing performance manufacturers with actual track cred unlike the Elantra. You’d be a moron for not shelling out a little bit more and getting way more in return.
@@NS416 this one has about 50lb torque more than the last generation and some people have even got 0-60 runs in under 5 seconds with the new 230i. It is quicker than the last generation. If I had to guess I would bet the Elantra wins from a roll but the 230i wins from a dig. What I would like to know is which is quicker around a track.
@@postalpancho it weighs in at around 1600 kg, in order to be under 5 seconds it should have way more than 300hp, which it obviously doesn’t. The reality is every i30n for about 60 % of its costs (at least here in Germany) will smoke it without a doubt. So it’s a nice looking car, which looks way faster than it actually is. If you want to have real performance, you have to go for the m240i which will easily crack the 5 seconds mark, or even the upcoming m2. Please stop stating unrealistic acceleration figures.
It shows on our window sticker as a part of the Premium Package. We do see that it has been changed on the current online builder, the HUD deleted and the package price lower at $1950 from $2650 - a running change likely a result of the ongoing chip shortage.
I don't get what BMW was thinking. They got rid of the manual AND they also got rid of the X-drive as well. I could've almost Iived without the manual if I could have gotten AWD. What a silly decision.
@@TestDrivenTV Well, thanks for that info I already knew. I was referring to sane people who aren't going to spend the extra 12 grand just to get AWD on that car. 😕
I’ve had this car for a year now. And I love driving it so much.
Best and most unbiased reviews on youtube by a mile.
Own one and love it. Quick, great handling, fun and love the look of the car.
I've seen many 2022 230i owners on reddit reporting that 0-60 is less than 5.5 seconds...more like 4.9.
Excellent review - thanks!
Same chassis and poise in the 230i without the MSport and Dynamic perfect options. I just got one for $39k.
Really nice car for the money and good review thanks! I have the 2014 228i and think it might be time to update?
Go for it, I just got my 220i, you are going to love the car.

Have you ever reviewed a more base trim for the 2022 or 2023, 230i coupe without the MSport options? Just curious.
Will this car be reliable?
Why you didn’t test it in sport plus and sport transmission? It’s completely different car

Can you detail your options?
I am also thinking of getting the m sport at the minimum
@@aditya7955 yes but it is a long wait due to the chip shortage.
My friends Elantra N rips harder. Well it did compared to my previous F22 230i.

Must be an early build because for 2022 BMW no longer gives you the option of a head-up display in the 230i. Only the M240i.

@@TestDrivenTV Yup...that's probably exactly why. Hopefully for 2023 MY when I'm looking to buy they add it back.
How is this in light snow.
I have the M package maybe that’s why I have it
@@aaronblackmon5520 nah...they stopped offering all together later in 2022. back now for 2023 though.

Next year bmw will release 230 x drive and 240 rwd
2023 230i is available with awd.
Just what we need: Bigger and wider "small cars". UGGGG.... = (

That is generally what is meant by "the cloud".
