- In this Saltwaters Hawaii episode My Grandma and I cook a Mu I caught a few nights ago. This was the first Mu that both me and my Grandma tried. It was so delicious and definitely one of my favorite fish to eat!

Definitely one of my favorite fish to eat! Top two for sure. Awesome you shared it with your Grandma! Loved how it might be the first mu she ever tried and enjoyed it like I knew you guys would from seeing you catch it in the last video! I always get stoked when I catch a mu, or even buy one. Lol. My grandmas favorite was baby kahala (around a pound or so size). Caught papio all the time for her, but a few times ran into a baby kahala or two. Gave it to her to eat and she said it was her favorite of all the fishes I caught for her. Never catch one since she passed away. Miss her so much. Appreciate and cherish the time you have left and never take it for granted. Loved the vid.

I tried frying mu collars before too, if you're a crab person, I can recommend doing that, but me I no enjoy crab that much so it wasn't a favorite of mine.

What is the packet that grandma used for the sauce?
Pretty hard for pry the jaws open when its dead. When its dead it has some major lockjaw. And I like know if your mu had wana in the stomach too. The big 6.4+lber my dad caught recently in october had wana and digested fish or ika in the stomach.
Mine had mostly nothing but some little crabs
