The song was written and composed by now super-producer and Swede Max Martin. "Hit me" is not a reference to domestic violence, it was a popular phrase in Europe at the time that teens would use to say "call me/get ahold of me". Similar to how some people use the phrase "Hit me up".

About 15 years ago (I think it was), Britney 'bout lost her mind---one might argue that her break-up with Justin Timberlake sent her over the edge---she battered a cop car, IIRC, or maybe it was paparazzi.... And then she shaved her head, got married for 36 hours, or something like that, and some other stuff.... Then her father went to court so he could be in-charge of her---her finances, healthcare, etc. Now, this "free Britney" thing is about her going to court to get that severed, so she can be in-charge of herself!!
I'm concerned because I get the feeling that the guy she wants to marry, is taking advantage of her---and I don't think the Conservatorship should've ended!!

@@Elisa82694 Well at 16 I wasn't making good decisions but I had parents who would guide me and explain why my decision wasn't good. I didn't like it at the time. But, once I was older I completely understood why. Britney's parents should have stepped in. I'm all for everyone expressing their individuality anyway they choose to, but I just feel that this wasn't a good thing. Again, she was their cash cow, so why would they step up and stop it?
I mean she was showing her midriff in the schoolgirl outfit and then dressed in athletic clothes. Neither of those choices are unusual at all for a sixteen year girl. What wasn’t appropriate was how she was styled for Rolling Stone which she had no say in and people conflated the two.
