    I feel like at least in the English version, she uses the deeper tone when she’s singing about the invincible facade she tries to project to the world and the lighter, softer tone to represent her true inner feelings/vulnerability that she hides from everyone… it’s cool to see the differences in every language!

      Plus, she literally does show that one is a facade. The whole time she songs pretty low but in that drram sequence when she goes into falsetto it literally shows you how different she sounds when she thinks about relaxing and not having to worry.

    "There is something about Germans yelling that scares me." As a German, I agree, it's scary 😂❤
    Also, sadly, the Disney Plus subtitles are just the English version's lyrics and not the actual translation of the dub :(

    • @ThatOneLadyOverHere
      @ThatOneLadyOverHere 2 роки тому +4

      Technically that is the translation since the German was translated from English, it just doesn't feel like it since you have to change lyrics so much to get the to work right. Imagine having to translate this song into every language and then having to translate it back into English to get more direct subtitles. That's so much work, when it isn't really necessary.

    • @miss-i5045
      @miss-i5045 2 роки тому +23

      @@ThatOneLadyOverHere i know that it is a lot of work and a lot of the lyrics match most of the time. I just think it is a little misleading or confusing if you want to practice a language you are learning with a movie or want to see the details the translation team came up with. But that is just me being into languages and the how they can use words to form different meanings. :)

    • @ThatOneLadyOverHere
      @ThatOneLadyOverHere 2 роки тому +3

      @@miss-i5045 I find languages interesting too, and it is kind of unfortunate because people do use movies to help learn languages a lot. At the same time, the priority of the studio is to create art and an experience. Also, I think a lot of times the dub language and sub language are separate selections and having a separate set of subs for every dub language would be incredibly tedious. I totally get why it is a bit disappointing though.

    • @TwoWholeWorms
      @TwoWholeWorms 2 роки тому +3

      I brought this up with my hubbo when we were watching it in LatAm Spanish with LatAm Subs, and what she was singing was nothing like what was on-screen, and apparently it's 'cause the subs are just farmed out to translation agencies, which is, quite frankly, fucking shite. :|

    I understand German and the subtitles sadly aren't translate correctly. In the chorus she is singing in German "Lass dich nicht blenden" whoch translates to "Don't let it blind you" instead of "Under the surface" which would translate to "Unter der Oberfläche"

    I believe the fact that the german one sounds a little deeper is that we germans have more deeper vowels like O U Ä Ö Ü and A if you compare the lyrics. The way you pronounce the ÄÖÜ sounds is based on an E, but you form your mouth like an A, O or an U
    so therefore we use deeper vowels, since E and I lift your voice naturally while speeking I believe

    In french it sounds pretty cool! Also, i really like the last sentence in the french one, it gives a whole lot more emotion than in english. She says "mais moi j’aimerais bien te demander, ce que ca fait, d’exister sans pression!" Which translates to "but i would like to ask you what it does, to live without pressure!"
    So it sounds like she pretty much assumes that because mirabel does not have to hold the weight of the family like she does, that she lives without pressure. I find it interesting character-wise.
    You should try to read how the lyrics were translated in other languages when you react to one of encanto’s songs in other languages, im sure many of them have hidden pearls somewhere! It could be pretty interesting!!

      I don't live in germany but in an german speaking country and tbh it's actually pretty easy to get around without speaking the language. I'm a native speaker myself but I go to uni with lots of people who barely know a word german. Most people understand/speak at least basic english, a lot of public services offer english translations or english versions of documents and doctors do too. There are cinemas who show movies in english, some tv programs have subtitles available, almost all products in stores have an english translation printed onto them (like instructions, ingredients..). The only thing that would be troublesome is if you have a job that requires communicating a lot with people (like waiters, cashiers..) but thats probably not the case with him so yeah! :)

    I think the difference you're hearing between character actor and dubbed german is that the original voice is directed towards matching the character on screen - and the language versions are trying to stay as close to the original characters as they can - but making it match as best as they can (almost like lip synching) - so it's natural for them to seem more 'singy' than 'in character'.

    Would love to see you react to Surface Pressure in Spanish! Though my translator friend has told me the translation is not the best, and I find the voice acting a bit awkward, I really like the contrast her singing voice makes to when she’s not singing, so I would love to know your opinion!

    I love that she has a deeper voice. It is so rare, that you feel somehow wrong, when you have a lower voice as a female.

    Ah yes this was an amazing version of the song. I'ma have to agree that I'm also obsessed with the growling in this movie. Also you really need to react to the Japanese version of waiting on a miracle bc I'm literally in love with it and I think it sounds so good, but yeah great vid!

    If you want any ideas for who to react to after Encanto, I'd love to hear your opinion on Madeon's voice. He uses a fair bit of autotune on his newest album but he has a pretty high voice for a male. He can sing falsetto nicely and seems to have a lot of control over his vocals (even without autotune).

    Please listen to the euro Portuguese version of “ Waiting on a Miracle” maybe it would be more different than the English version but my thought is they based they’re translation on the Spanish version that’s why euro Portuguese and Spanish sound alike

    I dont know if you noticed or someone already pointed out to you, but the english subtitles you activated are the original english lyrics and not a 1 to 1 translation.
    Most of the lyrics are still the same are at least similar to the original, for example in the beginning their is a verse saying "Hercules I dont wanne fight Cerberus" and in german it says If Hercules rather wanted to run away from cerberus. Just wanted to let you know ^^
