Euphonium wasn't THAT impressive for their doing. I think Myriad Colours Phantom World was more impressive (more action scenes and fancy colors and stuff). But either way, this PV blows all of their previous works out of the water indeed.
I'd personally disagree. I found that the use of colours and post processing was better handled in hibike. of course it's all preferences, colours and shit
Phantom World was shit. Even the animation quality suffered compared to other KyoAni shows, not to even mention the atrocious character designs and bland fight choreography. But then, I wouldn't expect someone who cites "more action scenes and fancy colors and stuff" as a judgement of animation quality to have any clue what they're talking about.

freshfrenchtoast Sorry, I didn't realize the captions in the video were already translating the sentences in the video. I just wanted to practice my reading and translation skills on this video :) What I got from the video is the story of a woman who writes letters either as a hobby or as a correspondent/secretary. The first half of the video shows the "places" and "feelings" that these letters contained. While the last part of the video shows her waking up from her daydream about these letters. She seems to be in deep-thought about what these letters mean to her. At least, that is what I speculate is happening. There is honestly no information about this readily available in either Japanese or English so I can only speculate based on this CM.

Love how Violet's typewriter presses sync with the piano notes at the start. Come to think of it, there is a lot in common between a pianist and Violet's letter-writing - a journey that begins with a robotic delivery of notes, that gradually flourishes and becomes more sensual and emotive as she experiences more of life and becomes a master of her craft.
I know this sounds like the stupidest thing ever but I actually cried watching this trailer?? It was just so beautiful I actually shed a tear I'm not joking. I wonder what kind of tone this series will have... I love how it gives off a "old fashion/Victorian times ish" vibe which is something I have always loved and really wished to see more often in anime. I know the series is yet to come out in a while but I feel this strange connection to it?? I kind of have the same feeling towards it as I had after watching Kiki no na wa (except this time before even watching the anime).. I'm not sure why but I am very exited for this to come out and I wish Kyoani the best of luck getting this project done smoothly without any major problems! Love you Kyoani
In the original novel, Gilbert is alive but others all try to hide the fact from Violet by claiming he's dead. The anime drastically changed the story by turning the situation upside down. Maybe this trailer was made with the original plot in mind?... Tbh the novel's plot makes more sense.

中学生の時にちっさいビルの中にあった京アニショップに行って、初めてヴァイオレットのポスターを見た時からずっと待ってました。それから数年たって自分はもう大学生になりました。ほんとに色々な事があり、大変な中アニメシリーズ、外伝、そして今回の劇場版までヴァイオレットの人生を描いて下さり感謝してもしきれません。本当にありがとうございました。

最初のタイプライターが英語配列で、文章も普通の英語だし、0:10〜のオスカー・ウェブスターと思われるキャラクターも若干デザインが違う。その後のアン・マグノリアとのシーンもアニメだと屋外だったけどこのCMだと室内のシーンになってる…
これだけならCM制作時からアニメ放送までの間に細部に変更があったとも思えるんだけど、0:17〜のカットでヴァイオレットが持ってる戦斧ウィッチクラフトは原作小説のみの登場だし、0:21〜のカットでギルベルトが登場してるけど、これもアニメではほぼ戦死扱いの生死不明だったのに対し、原作では一部の人間が生存を把握していたためと考えると、やっぱりちゃんと考えた上で小説の一部シーンをアニメとは別の世界線の話として描写したものな気がする。

What I got from the video is the story of a woman who writes letters either as a hobby or as a correspondent/secretary. The first half of the video shows the "places" and "feelings" that these letters contained. While the last part of the video shows her waking up from her daydream about these letters. She seems to be in deep-thought about what these letters mean to her.
At least, that is what I speculate is happening. There is honestly no information about this readily available in either Japanese or English so I can only speculate based on this CM.

I still can't get over how beautiful this looks. It's like every frame is a key frame.
Love how Violet's typewriter presses sync with the piano notes at the start. Come to think of it, there is a lot in common between a pianist and Violet's letter-writing - a journey that begins with a robotic delivery of notes, that gradually flourishes and becomes more sensual and emotive as she experiences more of life and becomes a master of her craft.

I know this sounds like the stupidest thing ever but I actually cried watching this trailer?? It was just so beautiful I actually shed a tear I'm not joking. I wonder what kind of tone this series will have... I love how it gives off a "old fashion/Victorian times ish" vibe which is something I have always loved and really wished to see more often in anime. I know the series is yet to come out in a while but I feel this strange connection to it?? I kind of have the same feeling towards it as I had after watching Kiki no na wa (except this time before even watching the anime).. I'm not sure why but I am very exited for this to come out and I wish Kyoani the best of luck getting this project done smoothly without any major problems! Love you Kyoani

In the original novel, Gilbert is alive but others all try to hide the fact from Violet by claiming he's dead. The anime drastically changed the story by turning the situation upside down. Maybe this trailer was made with the original plot in mind?... Tbh the novel's plot makes more sense.

数日前に「ヴァイオレット・エヴァーガーデン」の視聴を終えたけど、9話のラストで「アニメでこんなに泣いたの初めて」っていうくらい泣いた。
けど、ネット上では10話が一番泣けるって書いてあって、「9話以上に泣ける話とかあんのか？まあ、感性は人それぞれだからな…」とか思いながら10話見たら…嗚咽が漏れるくらい泣いた…。アニメで嗚咽漏らしたのとか初めてだよほんと…。
つまり、何が言いたいかというと…。
ヴァイオレットは、アニメの人物だけじゃなく、俺たちの心にも優しさを届けてくれたってこと。
