- This is how Motorway Matt got his name, featuring the ham people! From the makers of Mini Metro comes Mini Motorways! A highway engineering puzzle game and in this video I, a highway designer of 10 years, see if my real life engineering skills help me become better at the Mini Motorways puzzle game by segregating different colors to the extreme to fix bad traffic!

I live in Dubai and can confirm that this is an accurate representation of the city and its huge number of motorways. We don't have that many ham shops though, kind of a culture thing.
I live in Paris and every now and then I’ll see a kebab shop with “ham” or “bacon” and it’s usually made with Turkey.
It's always great to see Motorway Matt help get the ham people to their ham IMAX cinemas and ham slices.

XD the bridges in China are ridiculous too. ESPECIALLY in Chong King. I’m pretty sure there’s a 20-road interchange somewhere, 12 stories high, five levels, and 20 highways…
Highways running through the middle of neighborhoods, traffic lights everywhere, cars being the only way around...I always wondered how the American road network was designed...

This game has a night mode and it looks a lot better in my opinion and makes seeing the colors less stressful on the eyes

I love how Matt always picks roundabout over traffic lights but never really uses them😂
Not related to Mini Motorways, but I've just had a playthrough on the "Terraces" map in Timberborn and it's absolutely perfect for monstrous dams and bridges well as other ways to play around with water.
The supermarkets in my town also upgrade to IMAZ cinemas. It's a little confusing but the cinema managers don't care. It's not like our roads go anywhere else.
maybe try to give your motorways a tile of road runway before intersections?
I think a lot of trouble you're having is with cars getting caught up because they're trying to make hairpin turns off the motorway, directly into opposing traffic, just to get into parking lots.

When you said "That traffic light shouldn't be used too often" at 16:51 , you just made that house the closest house to make trips, you would have been better off using a roundabout there and using your traffic light elsewhere. Also, you beat his left teste, which makes you all right.

Something I've found out is that putting 2 lanes of traffic into one entrance is asking for death. Instead, let the traffic merge before reaching an entrance so the people in the shop don't get jammed up at the entrance in 3 way traffic

Btw, I think all houses need to be connected to all businesses. Notice that sometimes there is a car just sitting at a house, not moving. And then once you connect their house to a particular business, they begin moving. Even if they are already connected to another business, that isn’t the one they want to go to. I hope this makes sense.

I don't play the game but by logic shouldn't he avoid sharp turns? I keep thinking it would make the road faster to use one extra tile but make the turns smooth.

It all makes sense now. They go to the supermarket so many times because they know it will eventually turn into an i-max and they want to bring their own snacks

ever since i stumbled upon this channel, its suddenly become part of my night time routine to watch a couple mini motorway vids or that other road game u play before i go to sleep
I learned how traffic lights are useful-ish. When you have crossroads the car will approach it with caution and slow down, meaning it takes longer, with traffic lights they will approach normally unless they need to stop
This is sort of cheesy, I have seen other people do it. But if you take your extra roads and spread them around the map so things can’t spawn there. This allows you to control where the houses and the shops spawn. Especially in the beginning of the game you can keep your colors close to each other. This is how a lot of people get high scores.
That weekly challenge was probably my favorite that I have come across.
I love these videos. So calming. I come to this channel every time sam or dean dies to stop the crying😌

I'm not sure if splitting the houses helps, because then the colours don't regulate themselves and you have to keep adding houses and rearranging the groups created... and it is a mess already in late game to have to mess around with the house groups.
