- 1952 Jane Froman - Tea For Two
A nice recording of the 1924 Vincent Youmans-Irving Caesar composition. "Tea For Two" was introduced in the Chicago pre-Broadway run of the musical "No, No, Nanette" in May of 1924. Jane Froman performed the song for Susan Hayward in the 1952 film "With A Song In My Heart," which is a movie about the life of Froman. An album of Froman's recordings for the film was released under the same title, and was issued as Capitol album 309, it was the best selling album of 1952. The film released on April 4th, 1952, and so this record was likely distributed to disc jockeys sometime around then. Transferred from 78-rpm Capitol, with matrix number 9521. The aforementioned flip side "Jane Froman Interview" can also be heard on my channel here: • 1952 Jane Froman Inter...
Its a song I really love records that sing it, the instrumentals can be nice too, but really just seems like its meant to a voice. And the gal with a song in her heart sings it well! Always have loved Don Redman's vocal take on it from the early 30s.
