I totally agree Michael. I personally skipped the practitioner exam and went straight to the Associate exam. And I love the distinction of the different cloud positions because I have seen some job description lump all cloud skills together.
@@MrMadmaggot I had some experience but I just went straight to the associate to get into the fire in terms of learning as much as I could. Things can work differently for everyone but I would suggest to go to take the associate first.
I’m still getting the cloud practitioner. I’m working on other things right now and studying for it as my secondary focus. Using it as a place holder on my resume until I get the SAA. My goal is cloud engineer/ cloud security.
If anyone taking this exam is taking it specifically to get hired, then they are completely off track. They misunderstood the point. Anyway, I learned from an AWS employee that Amazon will hire you even without it, but once you're hired they make you take it anyway. Where I work, it's a requirement for anyone who wants to get in-house AWS cert training and would like to subsequently transfer to the cloud division. Eventually I'd like to get the cloud security cert but I'm going for SysOps first. Other UA-camrs are suggesting getting cloud architect and Developer certs first because the SysOps test is hard; architect and Developer exams will make taking SysOps easier. You are the first person that I have heard that said go after the one you want as opposed to all of them. I'm getting my experience and will study. Then I'll take the SysOps exam after I get Cloud Practitioner. So, while it might seem like a waste to some people, it's necessary for others. Something else I thought about. For people not good with tests, a foundation cert is a good start because it eases you in and may help to boost your confidence.
Sysops is good if your want to do admin, operations or maintenance. Is that your goal? It’s the exact opposite of architecture. It’s not the same as engineering. But there are some people that want to implement, patch and monitor systems. If that’s your goal then that’s the right certification for you
@GoCloudArchitects Yes. I'm coming from an operations, support, and break/fix background. Security is my ultimate goal. I considered the architect route, but I don't believe it's a good fit. I wish there was a program for my area of interest like your company. Thanks for replying.
