- EN.VEE's mix starts out easy and then gets rowdy, really quick, better put your helmet on for this one!! Amens throughout, jungle with some hardcore and jungle techno in the mix, exclusives, newer tunes, and classics in this smasher! EN.VEE went all in on this mix!!
Let's meet our dj for episode 537, EN.VEE:
1. Tell us about gigs you have coming up that you are looking forward to!:
We kick start the bank holiday at Phonox in Brixton for ‘Coco Bryce Presents’ an event curated by Yoel (Coco Bryce) at Phonox, Brixton on the 28th! I’ll be playing alongside Riz La Teef, Chinese Daughter, Tommy The Cat, Neffa T and, the man himself Coco Bryce! Going to be a wicked dance.
Then Friday onto Barcaleone in Rome with the Fukstep Collective, run by Italian born Berlin based DJ Fukinsei. I am playing alongside the founder Fukinsei and Sardinian based Dj Amaro, this is an exciting event full of queer and femme DJs striving to bring diversity and inclusiveness to the scene through both the music and the ethos of the event. Hoping to bring it to the UK soon so watch out for that one!
2. Can you tell us some great Jungle producers you are into at the moment?
Considering I am focusing on diversity on the scene I’d like to shine light on the queer, NB and female producers I am feeling right now, and some I have not been able to fit into the mix, but they deserve every bit of recognition for pushing their true sound right now.
Firstly, I’d like to give a shout to No Nation to begin with. Humzah is bringing some truly cinematic jazzy vibes with some chaotic emotions that speak to me on so many levels! A true composer and someone who uses their countless artistic influences to help guide writing their music, and with some exciting new events entitled ‘Border Control’ coming out of Bristol right now.
Next on the list is Shirley Temper, a queer femme producer based in London. Their sounds are fun and refreshing mixing total science style breaks with some fun fast paced bassy goodness and sassy samples; and for me her music incorporates what it is to be a femme in the jungle techno scene. Nic has only been producing for the last year and I am just excited to see what is coming next for her and her tunes. Go check their releases on some wicked labels like Professional Bass and Da Demolition Squad. Holding the space for queer femmes all over the UK right now.
Last but not least is Lubi J! A Welsh female Jungle and DnB DJ and producer with an encyclopedic amount of tune knowledge and history on the scene. She has just recently released her first jungle techno ravey banger under the alias ‘Lw’ on Exstatic Records and has always been a big supporter since I first played out around a year and half ago. Excited to see where this year will take her and keep an eye out for her babe 2 babes with fellow Welsh sister Electra. Both incredible women and wicked energy to be around with a proper grassroots event called Headspace in Cardiff. If you are Welsh side (the best side), it is the only place to be for hardcore Jungle and DnB heads.
3. If you could visit one planet, which one would it be and why?
Tbh I find Earth overwhelming enough xxxx
