Lyrics:
Come home early after class
Don't be hangin round the back of the schoolyard
I've been called up by your teacher
She said she can't even reach you cause you're so far
You've been talking with your fists
We didn't raise you up like this, now did we?
There've been changes in this house
Things you don't know about in this family
It don't make sense, but nevertheless
You gotta believe us, it's all for the best
It don't make sense, the way things go
Son you should know
Sometimes mums and dads fall out of love
Sometimes two homes are better than one
Some things you can't tell your sister cause she's still too young
Yeah you'll understand
When You Love Someone
There ain't no one here to blame and nothing's gonna change with your old friends
Your room will stay the same cause you'll only be away on the weekends
It don't make sense but nevertheless
You gotta believe us, it's all for the best
It don't make sense, it don't add up
But we'll always love you, no matter what
Sometimes mums and dads fall out of love
Sometimes two homes are better than one
Some things you can't tell your sister cause she's still too young
Yeah you'll understand
When You Love Someone
When You Love Someone
Come home early after class
Don't be hangin round the back of the schoolyard
And if we're crying on the couch
Don't let it freak you out, it's just been so hard
Sometimes mums and dads fall out of love
Sometimes the best intentions just ain't enough
Some things you can't tell your sister cause she's still too young
Yeah you'll understand
When You Love Someone

This comment section is just full of all of us kids with family issues 👌🏻
The words "somtimes two homes are better than one" hits me so hard
This song hits different when your parents never actually loved each other
Wow this song is good. My parents are divorced.
...Who else relates to this on a personal level?
Man my parents aren't divorced but this made me cry regardless
I was the older sister but I was 5 so I didn't quite understand myself
Why would a dad that love his child speed away from him like that?
Idk why but this song hit so close to home for me.....
My parents got divorced when I was 7 and I am 25 now. I'm so glad they got divorced. Though, I never had two homes. I only had my mom's house. My dad left to another state. My mom raised 5 kids on her own, she's awesome. I've never had a step dad or step mom either. My mom dated this guy on and off for years, but she never brought him around us. I met him twice. Their relationship was very private, almost like a secret. When their relationship was off for a bit, she did try to date other people. My mom is shy and insecure. She did date another guy for 2 years, and I met him once. Then my mom went back to the other guy and their relationship ended shortly. She is single now and has been for a long time. My dad never dated anyone after the divorce and still hasn't, well that I know of. I actually never asked. He lived another state most of my life and didn't call to talk or anything, I didn't know anything about my dad. He's been back in California for quite some time now but like 4 hours away from me. I still don't see him but we talk more often now than ever before.
When u came from this kind of broken home and u fear that one day it will happen again to your own family.
"somethings you can't tell your sister because she's still too young" Is the reason why I loved this song so dearly. I grew up in a really heavy household and being the eldest I didn't want to spread any of the stuff I found out because of their ages. So while they walked around thinking was okay I was being my mother's therapist and taking all of this in at the ages of 11-17.
“Sometimes the best intentions just aren’t enough” damn that hit me hard
James TW deserves so much love and support in the way he has written this
The thing I found most beautiful about this song, is that even though I have experienced none of the struggles, I can almost feel it. This guy is really good at telling a story.
I start absolutely balling my eyes out every time when I hear “sometimes moms and dads fall out of love”
James TW definitely deserves more appreciation for the way he put this song together. The lyrics, the chords, and the voice hit home.
it makes me sad to see so many people relate to this and most of us are children , the innocent ones , but hey you realise you're actually not alone
The little sister line always gets me because I was that little sister, and my mom used to get really angry and my brother would take most of it, and even when she would pick a fight with me he would still step in and try and get her attention on something he did. He always tried to take the worst stuff and I can never seem to be able to express how much of an amazing brother he is but I would do anything to be able to pay him back and say thank you
It doesn’t matter how many times I come back to the song it’s always going to make me cry
