When you do traffic duty as a cop it's because you f***ed up somewhere. And the cop wanted to get off traffic duty by saying look I been out here 20 min and almost got ran over.
Having to do traffic duty isn’t for the highest performing officers, that’s for sure. Would not surprise me if that assignment was due to another incident he was involved in.
Only reason he was fired was because the other cops at his department disliked him and built a case against him. Even while behaving like this, had he been a well liked cop, he would still be on the force as we speak.
@@skillethead15 Bingo. He'd been a problem with other cops in the department for several years and had racked up a lot of complaints to the point even senior officers were getting upset. You have to be a pretty bad cop for that to happen.
In an administrative interview with union lawyers present, Hinkle stated; “I had two tours in Iraq and when a car come at you like that, it freaked me out.” Ok, if that was any kind of excuse (it's BS) then why the hell would you choose a profession like law enforcement, where you will deal with things like cars flying around you, bullets flying around you, etc on the daily? What a cop-out, trying to use military service as an excuse for his irrational rage issues. Not only that, he also lied to his superior on the scene, saying she hit him with the mirror, then filed a report stating he slapped the mirror, then in a medical visit he claimed a work related injury from being struck by a vehicle. It's no wonder so many have trust issues with the police, after what I've been through alone on multiple occasions, I will NEVER trust another cop again, and they have only themselves to blame for that.

@@michaelb.8953 exactly, apparently this ex-officer thinks a palm outstretched towards the ground is how you signal that you want that direction to stop.
Of course it is. The rules specifically state that when traffic-lights aren't working, the intersection is to be treated like it has stop-signs on all sides. People manage stop-sign intersections just fine all the time. @@penguinking4830 thank you. Yours is the first comment I saw that mentioned the vehicle getting ready to make a left turn across/ in front of the lady driver. Combine those two factors with an emergency vehicle (with emergency lights ON/ lit)… The safer option, as a driver, would have been to slow down considerably, stopping if necessary, until the person directing traffic makes it very clear to you that you can/should continue. She did not deserve the verbal abuse she received, but I don’t think she deserves an “A” either.

The second officer, when pulls the first away, and calmly says, “you need to calm yourself,” literally made me cheer in triumph. I’m starved for pride in law enforcement, and this, however small, was some morsel of fulfillment for me. Good man.
I had to have an officer pulled away from me. This was years ago but there were two lights right by eachother and I was looking at the second one behind the first which was green but mine was red. (I had also just found out I was pregnant). I got hit from the side and had been flipped around from the way I was going. I was staring at a cop car…but it was also rush hour so I just pulled to the parking lot near where the cop was in the road as did the other person. I was in the wrong for sure running the light. But the cop was yelling at me saying I tried to run away when I was just trying to get out of the way. The other person was so nice and eventually another cop had to tell him to get out of my face and go calm down. Should also mention none of us where going fast so while damage was done both our cars still ran. I think my car was the one damaged most. And neither were totaled at all and both ran. We both drove our cars back to where we were headed in the first place.
Props to the police chief too for firing his ass. He had some stern words as well, but that likely won’t stop future psycho cops from becoming unhinged.

Just…go.” He didn’t raise his voice once. The officer in this video needs anger management classes.
Watching the video, you can clearly see that she didn’t do that on purpose. It takes them a few seconds to realize a law has been broken, but the same is for the person driving. It takes a Few seconds before you realize what’s going on. Good thing they got rid of this guy.

I had something extremely similar to this lady's experience when I was 17. A cop directing traffic at an accident gave me a confusing hand signal to stop. I fought it in court and had the pleasure to see a cop get chewed out and forced to apologize by a judge.
A few years ago, I was driving on a street and had to pass a police car that was halfway in the road, so I pulled halfway into the other lane to pass it. The cop started walking out into the street motioning with both hands as if they wanted me to go even further into the other lane which I did because now there was a cop and other person walking straight at my moving car and then the cop screamed at me saying “Get into your own lane” which already would have happened if they weren’t parked and walking in that lane and if they weren’t wildly motioning me to move further in the other direction.
Driver misread a poorly given signal and gets screamed at for it, but I'm sure the officer is sooooo emotionally hurt from this, especially after getting fired for it. I've dealt with cops just like this, some people just love having a reason to assert their authority over someone else and bully them. This situation could have gone over so much easier with a level-headed officer who understands sometimes mistakes happen, no one got injured, let it go and get this guy some therapy for his obvious anger issues.

He clearly wasn’t going to be run over and was using that as an excuse to defend his actions. He didn’t even put his hand up for stop, so he’s at the wrong and he even chased after the van so he clearly was the one trying to get run over. Probably turned into a safer intersection because most people know that it turns into a four way stop when a traffic light goes out instead having to try to decipher this lunatics hand signals in a split second before they get to the intersection.
It happens here in the UK as well. As soon as traffic lights stop working, drivers actually give way quicker and deal with it properly.
Cops directing traffic is LITERALLY USELESS. 🙄 As Michael B. said, the cop only adds extra complexity to the situation and makes it worse. Combine those two factors with an emergency vehicle (with emergency lights ON/ lit)…
The safer option, as a driver, would have been to slow down considerably, stopping if necessary, until the person directing traffic makes it very clear to you that you can/should continue.
She did not deserve the verbal abuse she received, but I don’t think she deserves an “A” either.

I had something extremely similar to this lady's experience when I was 17. A cop directing traffic at an accident gave me a confusing hand signal to stop. I fought it in court and had the pleasure to see a cop get chewed out and forced to apologize by a judge.
Happy you had the courage to dispute
They always do that.. "Put your hands up! Don't move, Get on the ground, stand still!"
I bet that felt good.
surprised it went to court the cowards normally let you go when you tell them it will be taken to court.

This is why being a law enforcement officer is a very tough job and can be very stressful. That being said, they’re supposed to take more training and classes on dealing with anger management. He clearly wasn’t going to be run over and was using that as an excuse to defend his actions. He didn’t even put his hand up for stop, so he’s at the wrong and he even chased after the van so he clearly was the one trying to get run over.
