I live in Maine I always wondered what the fort in the middle of the water looked like inside what was the cost of that fort when Constructed? Thanks for sharing 👍
Hi! Hailing from Houston, Texas here. You guys are absolutely adorable and so much fun! I thoroughly enjoyed your well-done and educational video. Keep it up!
We have loved your videos over the years!! We 60-somethings and avid NH hikers. Now we see you’re in Portland our favorite city! Loved your time at the fort. We visited by kayak 8-9 years ago. Did you use a water taxi? Curious how you got to the fort. Great adventure! Keep exploring!!👍👍
Thank you for following us over the years, we appreciate it. We don't post as much as we used to because we sold our house and we have been living and traveling in our RV for the past 2 years. We are only here during the summer months now. We have another UA-cam channel for RVing and travel called GetGonewithUS We loved Fort Gorges. We saw it from the ferry after exploring the abandoned Battery Steele on Peaks Island and knew it was the next adventure. We wanted to kayak, but Cheryl and I do not have an sea experience and our friends had no kayak experience at all. We took a water taxi out there. It was $20 each round trip including our tip, so that was worth it. We will be back in the Portland area again in a couple week and are going to try to get some sea kayak experience paddling around in the bay for a bit. We are hoping to get to more of the forts before winter forcing us away. 😀
@@WeRmudfun Hi; can you share what water taxi service you used? Did you call and make a reservation? We hope to head to the fort on Saturday. The bay from Portland out to the fort can be tricky. We encountered a few problems with wind over the years with our kayaks. Heading out was a breeze, but when that wind turns, it can be a challenge. We’ll tune into your new UA-cam channel. Best wishes. We feel like we know you guys!! Be safe.. Have fun!!
@@loa6290 We used Fogg's Water Taxi. They charge $100 for the boat and that includes up to 6 people for that price. We were a total of 5 people at $20 each. Round trip is a $10 discount. We did call and make a reservation, because it is based on the tides for them to get you there and back. They dropped us off and we gave them a time to come back and get us. Real easy company to work with. Have fun, we sure did! LOL
I have been following y'all for a couple of years and I live your videos. I grew up in the Bangor, Maine area (up near Mt. Waldo) but live in coastal NH now. Thank you so much for posting this video on Fort Gorges as I have always wanted to explore it and the other islands in Casco Bay off of Portland
Thanks Jeff and you are welcome. We are hoping to get to more of the islands in Casco Bay. We didn't even know about Fort Gorges until we saw it on the way to explore Battery Steele on Peaks Island. 😀
Thank you that was cool
You are welcome. It was a fun place to visit. 😀

You are welcome. We really enjoyed our visit to the fort. Not sure what the cost was to build it. 😀

Hi Bethany and thanks! Our son just moved to Austin, Texas yesterday. 🙂
LOVE THIS. Been wanting to get over for years, live near this beautiful spot.
We saw the island when we took the ferry over to see BAttery Steele and knew we had to go here too! We loved our visit. 😀
How fun!!
Thanks Jayne! Great history for the kiddos to see these places in person. You also know a couple who know their way around them too! 😉
