Well since I already can’t sleep from Mr Mole, looks like I’ll be listening to this now
Yes, Mr Mole is very scary indeed. Ms. Harding,s stories are someof the scariest ive read.
Oof, was that one that bad..? I kinda have to pick and choose when I listen to Horror Babble. Aww now I'm worried again... I have to work in the morning!
Mr Mole was among the more hard hitting weird tales …
Haha' bloody same here mate...😮
I'm going to listen to it, damn the torpedoes. Even if I don't sleep, they can't fire me! I'm the only one there who can make emojis in the foam of cappuccinos and lattes. I'm a loose cannon, but I get results!
I work outside a lot (I'm an animal rescue/sanctuary worker,) so I feel like, a lot of the time, I AM the damp man.
Suuuup everybody. Ain't nobody sleepin round here
I love Ian's American accent. It's spot on but it's always so earnest and wholesome-sounding. Totally the voice of some mensch in the 40s doing battle with evil to save his best girl.
I've become a big fan of Alison V. Harding thanks to this channel. I hadn't run across her works before. Thank you! After the first story, I said I'd have broken up the frozen damp man so he couldn't come back. Now, if there wasn't a third story, I'd say drain that tub! I'm looking forward to the third story immensely. Also, I think the voice you've given the damp man is perfect. And scary!
Lots of talented women horror authors obscured by circumstances of their time. Thanks to channels like Horror Babble who shine a light on the brilliance of their stories.
I kept picturing some kind of evil cross of “Big Mack” & baron Vladimir Harkonan. Enjoyed it! U the best! 🐝🐝
Another impeccable performance. 👍
So pleased tto finally get a moment to complete this collection of Harding stories. 👏
This channel is a knight in shining armor.
I have put this video off all day long, weird as this is, He scares the $#!% out of me. I say weird because I am a big fan of horror enjoying ghost stories and horror movies all the time. I put on my big girl pants and I am listening now.
allison slayed, this is sooo gripping. the addition of a job, especially as a 1940s reporter, really helps me comprehend the world around them (i have aphantasia). pelgrim is so cool too, thats a dude who gets the damn thing done! kisses to the sky for my queen allison
The Dampman returns??!!
Turn up the dehumidifier
Yay! Excited for the sequel 🎉
Next April 1st ya gotta do a *"YOU* *FOOL!* *WARREN* *IS* *ALIIIIVE."*
Or maybe have Warren pop up to say he is still alive
Ha!
I knew he should have broken the head off! Hahaha. I literally listened to the first part last night and asked where the second half was, then deleted it cuz that story had two parts and I thought I misunderstood. Thanks, Ian.
It wouldn’t have made any difference. It would just reform ever so slightly smaller. Basically he,s a giant talking jellyfish.😂..
Can't wait for the third!
Ian you and Jennifer never cease to give us the best in storytelling and your voice work is beyond par. Bravo!!! 💀
You fool! The damp man is back!
I was listening to your first The Dampman reading in the kitchen at work and the gay dude I work with would hear "he was a big man" and "his skin was moist" and gave me so much shit. I'm listening to this one at home lol
LMFAO 😆😂
Another wonderful reading as always! Listening at work and it had me on the edge of seat!
Oh yeah baby
I was just about to go look for a cave diving disaster or something else uplifting to watch, then this popped.
I loved the first one. I still remember listening to it on a travel day.. walking through airports and all, Ian in my ears. Here we go!!!
lmao I was doing the same!!!!
@@mortuarycookiezshane4192 ever watch or listen to Scary Interesting? That guy has more cave diving tragedies than anyone on his channel and somehow I love falling asleep to them.. not as often as HB but still a regular thing for me 😁
@@thefisherking78 yup! He’s by far my favorite of the cave diving channels
@@mortuarycookiezshane4192 small world man 😆
Glad I never saw a mister mole.
Terrifying
Just got to hear this now and it was worth the wait 🎉
Can we hear The Damp Man Again, the third Damp Man story? The first two readings were excellent as always.
Amazing sequel in quintessential AVH style. I love everything from AVH. Thank you for introducing me to the works of this amazing author.
I have so much to say about this story, but do not want to give any spoilers.
Great narration, as always! I think your accent when you speak as an American is awesome. Thanks so much for doing this series for us.
Ive been craving this for so long, and it was everything I wanted it to be.
That was truly great, thanks Ian, what a good and enjoyable storey, well told and part 2 of the previous storey.More please......many thanks TF
Absolutely outstanding many thanks as always Ian!🙂
Another wonderfully macabre story!
Such a wonderful story 👍 Thanks for the perfect narration 🙂💕
Excellent, l thoroughly enjoyed that, all the more so because from halfway through the first part I was shouting“boil‘im“ at intervals…..I,d have tried an electric fire in his tank.😂.
For gods sake, someone get this man a towel!!!
I was truly enthralled.
Thank you.
thanks Ian - can't wait to listen after work
Remsdorf is as incompetent at getting rid of his opponents as Doctor Satan, Doctor Claw, and Bond villains. This was a fun story, and answered several of the questions I had from the previous story. I suppose I expected him to be a grandson of Dragon or some such, but I adore his pulpy origins.
Not gonna lie I’m really intrigued about the damp man’s father now.
Bravo! Excellent!
Awesome!
Mr Mole was messed up.
Yay, I was waiting for this!
Yes!!!
This is not remotely the point, I know that, but: C-90 cassette tape gang, represent!
Man, I had so many random bits on tape as a kid and a teen. Storybooks, stuff from the radio, old albums, soundtracks of TV and computer games, even a few tapes of me reading horror stories (I soon stopped doing that because - well, you know how some people hate their own voice? That.)
Like I say: not the point at all, But I always smile when I put these stories on and see that tape graphic. Makes me feel like I’m home again. Also, HB is a kind of pencil, of course, and any cassette aficionado around my age probably made sure that they had a pencil in their pocket along with their Walkman! (Again - not even remotely the point, I get that, but it’s what was in my heart to put in the comments, I don’t know why!)
Going to have to make some space to patreon you, HB folks. I feel like I owe you, the amount you’ve entertained me here on UA-cam. When I can, I will.
In the meantime: my honest and unadulterated thanks and appreciation for what you do. The old and hidden relics like this one, the original works… sublime. Bravo!
This was great, completely different from what I expected
Wonderful reading. Can't get enough Damp Man
Absolutely loved this, thankyou ❤️
“Linda you dozy old boot, what in the world are u thinking ?”
"They argued a nickel's-worth." Great line.
LETS GO!!
Awesome
At long last!
Oh boy, excited for this 🙏

@@HorrorBabble Yay! Thanks!
The original TERMINATOR
I just read a fascinating article about who Allison V. Harding might have been. A real "who was it".
Am I the only one who's imagining the Damp Man looking something like Jack Horner from Puss in Boots?
That ending is a real copout. There was no indication that Ransdorft Sr. was even alive. Or that George was followed by him. Shows up out of knowhere takes down three guys, somehow compels his "son" who is implied to be some sort of homunculus and boils him away and then leaves. Without any explanation as to what happened, why he created the Damp man. How he controls the Damp man, or why did he show up now. And to make it even more confusing this is the second in a three part series.
The first one was much better :/ great reading as always...
I've said it before and I'll say it again: any night that I get to hear Ian's phony bologna American accent is a good night for me. 😋
Do the British Isles still have above-ground telephone poles of the sort pictured at night on this video (to excellent effect?)
Dude i was so worried that there was gonna be damp "sex" .
I sighed when it was a exanguination
Moist man?❤
@@dickrichardson1804 i mean he can get them wet .
Damp Man vs Doctor Satan
Saved by the Gunslinger
So since there are three stories and those two methods have been used to deal with him already who wants to take a guess on how they will deal with him next time? Personally I'm thinking it would be fitting if they somehow got him into a mixer with cement mix and made a statue out of him.😄
Electrolysis ?
@@Eris123451 Shocking! 😄
Soak him up with blotting paper😂
High quality production from Horrorbabel, as always, but the ending was a bit *deus ex machina* guess we'll have to wait for part III.
Love me a damp fellow
Correct
Dames is always gettin' their stems twisted.
He is a big boy
im lazy. have you read the scewtape lettters. that might not be the right name something like that. i remember liking that one.
!!!SPOILERS!!!
I liked the buildup, but the conclusion felt more than a little bit phoned in. Here the villain got the protagonists hogtied, right where he wants them. His evil scheme mere seconds from fruition. And then out of nowhere, the damp man's father shows up, sends him to bed without supper and roll the credits.
It's so unsatisfactory and hackneyed.
But deadlines have to be met, and as I said, I do like the buildup. So a rushed ending is not the end of the world, all things considdered. I look forward to listening to the last piece of the trilogy. =)
Can’t see any link to the first story.
Updated! Sorry about that.
@@HorrorBabble Thanks !
What?!?😂😂😂 He didn't smash it when he had the chance?
Bloody hippy.
Excellent narration but I'm afraid this story was very disappointing. The original Damp Man was fascinating because the Damp Man was an unknown menace to begin with while this felt like a retread, a sequel written to cash in on the success of the original. Nothing really new or interesting happened and the Deux Ex Machina ending was the tarnished cherry on the undercooked cake.
Deus Ex Machina, the ruination of many a great story.
