To everyone bitching about that Toyota truck being crushed and/or not being parted, look at how the bed is flopping off when Rick has it lifted by the roof. It is obviously a manufacturer buyback from the infamous frame rot recall. Under no circumstance is that truck safe to drive and it is right where it belongs. Often these buybacks may stipulate that the truck be destroyed in complete condition and that the yard can not profit off of its usable parts, which was the likely the case here.
+Anthony Slanda Yea I was surprised it flopped that easy.
toyota could have paid for a new frame, like they did for a couple people I know with these trucks
Matt Brown those Tacoma’s and even the new ones are trash, rust out so easy
"That WAS a junker, right?" "It is now!" LMAO The neat thing with these segments is they're really entertaining but you always learn something. Go Rick!
Lol!!
InstaBlaster.
Most of those cars weren’t even old at that time.
Hard to watch that Tacoma get Crushed but I bet the frame was rusted out Based on how it was buckled at 4:46. First gen Tacoma were the worst for frame rot especially in places like Ontario (salt+winter). Probably still had a bunch of sweet part on it thougth.
That Tacoma looked fine!
Sure did
Lol the Canadian Action Plan sign
make a grill cheese with my truck lol
Been waiting for these videos!
They probably sell the crushed cars to Gerdau.
I had a job draining cars, it was fun and paid well, but man was it ever demanding on your body!
It hurts to see a tacoma junked 😭
I live right down the road from Carcone. Sold them my lincoln town car.
4:35 like a glove

ARG, I prayed not to see an Astro/Safari getting scrapped in this segment :(
Ooooh, while funny, this episode was hard to watch. That truck looked and sounded like it ran perfectly fine. And here I am sitting in the damn freezing snow waiting for the always late transit bus...
It could be an Insurance situation. The car could still run. But due to water damage/impact damage/etc, it could cost more than the car is valued to repair it. So the car is marked Totalled, Insurance writes it off, and the car has to be scrapped.
hulk smash
This is a great option! For all those OLD CARS sitting in your garage, or those ones that simply cost to much to repair, send it to a SCRAP CAR RECYCLING COMPANY. I think companies like these are taking valuable metals, fluids, etc. and making money. Simultaneously, they are saving space in the landfills and accepting cars that would otherwise release too much carbon dioxide. You are applauded.
NOOOOOOOOO!!! What a waste of a truck! There should be adoption centres for cars.
Used car lots.
you would think they would take the vehicle completely apart....body parts, windshield, lights..things were still good on those vehicles...why not sell those parts instead of people having to buy brand new...no wonder the insurance writes cars off... If body shops could have access to those parts instead of having to buy new, the cost of repairing would be worth it and maybe perfectly good vehicles would have a second chance.
2005 and older
This is were all junk cars belong
:( i wouldve taken that truck and they can have my car
@trybal007
It is called a used car lot.
0:25 a chrysler 300 is not an old car!
HAHAHAHAHAHA
Did you actually eat motor oil?!
Actually our government is 15 trillion in dept. Take a look at the GDP.
she said 2005 and older? those all look newer
In the United States 90% of those cars would be on the road still. The other 10% would have been torn down and sold the parts. That's why we have more money
Canada has way more money than America. and were smarter with it too. the Canadian national debt is 1 trillion dollars. that might seem like a lot but compared too america, its nothing. your debt is $14,710,000,000,000.
What is this show Canadas version of Dirty Jobs w Mike Rowe? This host is very unlikable... sucks to because this series has some pretty cool things they cover.
Lots of those cars weren't even that old. I can spot at least 1/2 a dozen cars behind Rick at 0:56 that are less than 8 years old. ('04 Saturn Ion, '04 Mazda 6, '05 G5, '06 Charger, '07 TSX, '07 Caliber).
Likely were insurance write offs.
Anthony Slanda
Possible, but sad. Sad how fast people go through cars when they are careless, stupid, ignorant, or a combination. Cars take lots of work to build, lots of money to purchase and maintain, and create lots of pollution when misused/abused. My truck is 1/4 century old and still runs like a top - because I take care of it and do necessary repairs. Most people wouldn't keep their car for more than 5 years these days...
Joseph Summers Well, it all depends on what purpose the car served. Some people have owned more cars than they have toothbrushes (mainly for work/heavy driving reasons) and at that point, it's not really worth it to make prompt repairs because you know that their vehicle will eventually bite the dust. Heck, I know one guy who buys junky vehicles solely for the purpose of killing them.
Alex Anders
I understand. At the same time, part of me can't help but wonder how many of those cars are there because A) Cost too much to fix it, i.e. totaled, B) People mistreat them and have no sympathy for their vehicles, which shorten their lifespan significantly, or C) They have high mileage and are generally beyond worth repairing. // Me and my brother and roommate are car guys. We would never throw away an 8 year old car. We understand the consequences and immorality. My roommate still has his '99 Suburban with 252,000 miles. It's his daily driver. My brother drives a 45 year old car. I drive a 25 year old truck. If people take care of their vehicles, they can last a long time.
