Maybe I am in the minority but this World Cup has been the most intense, most gripping and even though the draw was lobbsided; those quarter finals left you falling in love with game with this beautiful game
@@Nat-oj2uc Maybe you are right but I know enough that we are the 4 time world champs and New Zealanders become the biggest cry babies when things don't go their way. I think I have also heard rugby "Pundits" (especially from NZ) always have something negative to say about a WC whenever SA wins...as if it isn't a great WC because they don't play rugby the right way. Am I correct about that or have you got something else you would like to teach me?
As an AB’s supporter I’ve been crying foul about the ref and TMO calls. The reality is the Blacks execution was off largely due to the Boks defensive pressure and they had those kickable penalties that they turned down as well as Richie and Jordies misses that would’ve put us in front. You really have to give it to the Boks with the path they had to win the cup. They probably will go down as one of the best teams based on that alone. Well done Bokke on your fourth WC victory and who defended like demons possessed and also well done to our boys for going within a whisker with 14 men for the most part of the game. May our staunch rivalry long continue.
While not discrediting the boks defense, when your down to 14 after 3mins in the game, then yes it's going be difficult to beat the boks defensive effort
Just because the Boks played knockout style rugby (and getting the results), now we are branded as not “not playing rugby”. When the English did that in the semis, everyone hailed them. Salty with a hint of sour…
So so true! When any other team plays like we did, they are hailed, when the Springboks do, suddenly rugby is falling through the roof 😅 This reaction is another reason why the Springboks will win in 2027, just to drain the oceans of all the salt, because it seems rugby pundits have all the saltiness 😂😂😂
If you have any basic understanding of sport strategy then it’s pretty easy to know that when your opposition plays fast you slow them down. It’s sport 101.
Agreed. It always irritates me when the Kiwis make themselves the lords of what good rugby looks like. Play your style, we will play ours and let’s see who’s triumphant at the end. Next thing they’ll be saying the props shouldn’t exceed a certain weight and scrumming should be banned because South Africa is too good. Even this refereeing and rules they now want scrapped, the won the championship, beating South Africa, playing under these rules. Now that they lost “a lot needs to be changed in the game”? Gerara here…
Wow looking at Kolisi taking sides with Jordy Barrett at the press conference at their arrival back in SA yesterday, it's so amazing to see. And the friendship between Kolisi and Savea. Watched a video where the two big friends thanked each other for supporting one another, amazing. The respect between SA and NZ is amazing and we remain SH brothers throughout!!!!!!!💪 💪 💪
Here is my wrap on the cup, the hosts France started with a hiss and a roar as did Ireland who beat the defending champs in group play to top thier respective pools with NZ and SA runners up while on the other half of the draw Australia missed the quarters for the first time in thier cup history allowing Fiji to progress alongside England, Wales and Argentina, cue the best quarterfinal round for the ages, world #1 Ireland upset by a slowly resurgent All Black side, the Springboks breaking French hearts in arguably the match of the tournament, Argentina's comeback win to end the Welsh campaign and England although unconvincing managed to get it done over the gutsy Fijians, ok, with no Ireland or France in the final four, SA prevailed with another single point victory over England this time around while NZ were too good for Argentina, and so it was set, defending champion South Africa vs fellow 3 time winners New Zealand in the final, a collosal epic ending with another Boks win by a solitary point to secure their fourth World Cup...well done to all thank you lots....Aus27 can't wait
Always remember. SA had to play all teams in the top 6 of the World Rankings. That was a tuff run-up to the final for them. They found a way to win. Certainly deserve it. True champions
Well deserved win. Of course, they didn't beat Ireland. Sour grapes on NZ. They were very smug when they beat Ireland. Could have gone either way but SA wanted it more. Unfortunately, ABs have nothing to show now for the last couple of years only firsts that they won't be proud of.
Like I said, SA deserved the win. Same in 2019. NZ are an amazing team with incredibly talented players. Nothing in the top four teams and only fine margins are winning these games. I've a lot of admiration for all the teams and the spectators who created one of the best WCs ever. They are great embassadors of sport, humanity and sportsmanship. Of course, things are said in the heat of battle and sometimes decisions don't go your way but it's all about swings and roundabouts. Why can't we all just get on and enjoy what is the best sport in the world?@@ncampion
Honestly didn't think they would even make the final. Was just so pleased that they beat Ireland. Not so bad losing to S.A. ABs were so close and could have won, but just wasn't their day. Congrats to S.A. Time to move on.
Kiwis were insufferable after they beat Ireland, very ungracious in victory. Glad they lost. Ireland played three top five ranked sides won two and lost one. NZ played three lost two won one. Very fine margins at this world cup, stay humble.
How are we not proud about the way we played mate! We bloody won a world cup and that is all that matters!!! We take a win over a loss any day in a final and it was an epic, great, tense game!!! Hardest pathway ever to win a world cup. Go the Bokke!!! Soooooo proud!!!
I just watched Shannon Frizzel and Ethan De Groot coming out of arrivals at Auckland airport - hardly anyone was there, one person awkwardly clapped for Ethan De Groot, the same for Shannon. Now, online tells another story with people commenting that they are proud of their players, hold your head high boys, we will support you no matter what. This should tell you everything you need to know that in reality, we are embarrassed. The only game of significance at that tournament was beating Ireland. We got spanked by France, we got our ass kicked by SA 2 weeks out from the RWC and got out muscled in the final. We beat Namibia, Uruguay, Italy and Argentina, well whippity do da!!! In reality we had a decent team but unfortunately we were hamstrung by a coach who was ineffective and incompetent and is still coughing up excuses in what is probably his last "piece to camera"after landing back in Auckland, the man is an excuse merchant and needs to be labeled as damaged goods. Get off your high horse New Zealanders and start calling out inefficiencies when you see them. You're getting soft and the rest of the world can sense it, you're becoming apologists and not owning your deficiencies which carries the tonality of having a soft underbelly. Scott Robertson, you got some work to do.
I have been watching the All Blacks vs Springboks since the Grant Batty/Sid Going/Bryan Williams era. As a kid in SA I thought these guys were just amazing. Looking forward to many classic encounters in the future (hopefully without all the crying and wailing from either side when they lose a 50/50 game)
Moaning about the refs and TMO's is to be expected by any losing side...it happens after every game. Rassie made it clear that he wants to play a style which takes away the 50/50 calls. That being said the head contact rule has been in force the whole tournament, and discipline can win or lose you matches. Everyone who thinks that the 3 points Barnes should've overturned would've meant AB's winning are just delusional. The Boks were ahead and playing a defensive game ( really well) and if that penalty went the other way or if any of the ABs kicks had gone over to put them ahead, the Boks would have switched into an offensive style like they did against England. They proved they can defend a 1 point lead against the best attacking team in the game as much as they proved they could come from behind and attack when its called for (vs Eng). They just had that resilience to do what is required to win that other teams couldn't match. That's why they are the champs
Lets be honest mate, that game could have gone either way and even a small change of margins could have been a different result. Any other suggestion is as you say, delusional.
The rules apply to all the teams, Rassie had a run in with the law but he learnt to adapt to the interpretation of the laws and not fight it, I feel NZ are still stuck on the wrong side of not adapting, big respect to Rassie, he is far ahead of the game. Fozzie was always going to be a few steps behind.
Or maybe the all blacks are not that good as they think they are, cause why could ireland and france up the game tempo but the all blacks cant? I know why . Cause they are not better thats it.
@@nielvanderwalt1965 plenty of 50/50 calls went against the boks, what are you on about? NZ try in the final was after a knock on, Farrell deliberately knocked the ball out of scrumhalf's hands while lying on the wrong side of the ruck in the semi final, Tonga player breaks Mapimpi's orbital and cheekbone but the ref says there was no degree of danger in the contact. come on man, pull your head out
@@googlename5125I support the boks, but the try was not a knock on. It went back from the hands, forward off the bounce. By the letter of the law, perfectly fine
AB did not make the shift to new rules, this is the root cause of their loss in my opinion. The rules exist and existed for a long time, it’s a crime to not have made the adaptation.
Apologies, not sure of her name, but the female NZ player is the best pundit I have seen. So impressed and she is biased but says such good things about other teams. Would love to see more of her
It's a World cup final, take the points! that kick was the difference. It was arrogance to go for the corner, and expect to score against the best defensive side in the world.
The All Blacks discipline is awful. It's not a coincidence that since the TMO has become more part of the game , the All Blacks started losing more. Their biggest advantage was their ability to bend the rules and now that's getting taken away from them. Rugby is great right now. No one wants to watch blowout 100 to nothing games.
100%. They don't even apply the rules correctly in their local competitions, it's all about play play play & no safety. They give the refs a mandate not to issue red cards even if it's clear foul play.
That is so true. McCaw would have been strangled if the TMO was applied back then. It is now a fair contest. Stick to the rules and be disciplined. Period.
@@francoiscoetzer9920 na mccaw wasn’t a cheater refs have even come out and said that he knew the rule book off the top of his head so he knew the margins of error
Agree, all this chat since the start of the RWC about the Boks doing things against the "spirit of the game" from JK, yet Shannon Frizell ended Bongi's RWC final after 2mins with a neckroll and dropping his weight on his knee is not against "the spirit of the game" its surely just an "accident"
You can’t be real saffas who have mostly been gracious in defeat. Don’t forget the mighty All Blacks have a better winning % against the boks and remain your masters.
It’s amazing how now NZ has something to say about reffing….SA has been talking about it for years and were laughed at…. Now the shoe is on the other foot… and everyone has to listen to it…. Richie Mcaw etc got away with everything short of murder on the field and he was regarded as one of the greatest… I believe Rassie found a way to beat opponents and the refs…
It was the most intensely contested Rugby World Cup in history. The fact that there is so much talk about referees and TMOs actually reflects the amazing contest between a handful of teams. Best world cup so far.
As a South African I must say, the New Zealand analysis is always so proper and much less bias than us. Honest and fair most of the time. Mad respect to the All Blacks for fighting to the death till the end. I didn't think that was a red card, ruined the game in a way.
The thing that frustrates us AB fans most about the Fozzie era is the lack of consistency. It looked like the game plan changed week to week and the players struggled to adjust. This has to be a coaching issue. 2022 -Poor in the Ireland series -Really bad against SA in first game of RC at Mbombela -Amazing performance to get win at Ellis Park -Terrible loss against Pumas in Chch -Smash the Pumas in Hamilton -Struggle against Aus in Melbourne and only win because of refs call, thanks Matthieu -Smash Aus at Eden Park 2023 -Brilliant against Pumas at start of RC -Good against Aus at MCG, but Aus is in management hell -Big win at Mt Smart against SA -Struggle badly against Aus at Forsyth -Terrible against SA at Twickenham -Poor against France in RWC pool -Tier 2 games redacted -Brilliant against Ireland in QF -Good against Pumas in SF -Very poor against SA in final My point is, we should have been ready for the downswing after a couple of good performances in the QF and SF 😂
I totally hear where you're coming from. I think you hit the nail in the head when you said it's a 'coaching issue'. For that reason, I'm so glad Scott Robertson will be taking over from Ian Foster next year. I'm just rather sorry that Robertson wasn't in charge for this world cup. I don't rate Foster at all. The Chiefs never won a single title under Foster, but then went on to win 2 grand finals after he left. Look at what Razor has achieved for the Crusaders. Before he came along, the Crusaders had a fairly long drought, but then he turned that around immediately. I honestly think the All Blacks would've won this world cup under Robertson, but that's history now. We also have to ask ourselves why Foster only had 4 Crusaders players in the starting lineup against SA. Apart from the Blues winning the trans-tasman comp in 2021, the Crusaders have really put the other NZ teams to shame over the last 6 years. I'd personally only select Crusaders players for the All Blacks, and this is coming from someone who doesn't even like the Crusaders.
Wayne Barnes was NOT apologising to Savea. Barnes said sorry he didn’t see the replay on the big screen and he thought Savea didn’t have enough separation from the tackle before the jackal. Savea asked if the jackal itself was good to which Barnes said yes. Meaning had there been enough separation from the tackle, Savea would have gotten the penalty turnover. Barnes literally said he didn’t see the replay so why would he apologise? Use some common sense.
Have you seen the replay? Pretty clear release. I'm sure the POTY wouldn't make silly mistakes like "not releasing" in the final. Rub of the green I guess?
@@LifeWithLeigh12 The POTY would certainly not release in the final because being the POTY that is what he is trained to do. Every professional rugby player worthy of any accolade pushes the boundary as far as he can - stop trying to pretend otherwise. I also love the way you show him enough respect to point out that he received the POTY award, yet not enough respect to think that if Barnes had actually apologised to him for getting it wrong as you all seem to think, and the kicker was only placing the ball on the tee, that the POTY might have added a follow up question to the referee like, "then why are they still getting the penalty?" or similar. He didn't though, did he? He acknowledged the answer and moved away. I respect Ardie immensely as a sportsman as a player, but even I would be insulting him for not doing his duties as a captain, even a stand-in captain, if he had simply let that slide as you seem to suggest.
Sad to hear Wayne Barnes retired but not surprised given the rubbish refs have to put up with. In the old days Refs were appreciated and one just accepted the refs decision as you knew they all can't go your way and tend to average out over the course of a game. Good luck to Wayne a great referee and did a great job al on all his games during the WC.
And you were lucky no card for the hit across the face on De Groot and Kolisi not getting upgraded to red plus the penalty that SA kicked that wasn't a penalty.
I have to disagree that the ball went forward. Firstly, the ball bounced backward compared to the initial passing position. Then because the rugby ball is oval shaped its direction is unpredictable. It went forward after initially bouncing backwards. What does this mean, it means they judge if a forward pass is made based on the velocity, direction and starting/ initial place of contact. That was a try and one of the few correct decisions made by both TMO and the Ref.
Been waiting for this the whole week long. Before I watch this, I predict a 50 min, whinge fest, blaming the game, the officials, tmo, ref, the rules, excuses, not being able to take the loss like a man. Let's see if I am right.😂
Choosing to kick to the corners and not take the kickable points in a final, missing a penalty and a conversion were more telling then the call from the ref. AB’s discipline has been a continuous issue even before the WC started. AB’s the team in the WC with the most cards given…..
Honestly the biggest mistake Australia and New Zealand made was to remove South Africa from the Super Rugby and allowing them to play with Northern Hemisphere sides. The Northern Hemisphere is starting to be good against different variations and they are now starting to lack.
@@ho6277 No South Africa got removed and they added the Mouri nations. They should've added the Mouri nations and still kept South Africa and Argentina.
@@ho6277 actually mate, NZRU specifically wouldnt even entertain some of the travel requests from SARU. Why would the South Africans agree to the worst traveling schedule in super rugby ever, a few years out of from a WC.... just to be part of super rugby?? I think given some of the other decisions and personalties in NZRU at the moment, it didn't really surprise me. Easy to make decisions that are made for you.
@@ho6277 your original comment was devoid of a few facts that put it into perspective. Something many people these days are quite happy to ignore for their own agenda.
Well done with the comments, especially from the ladies. So much knowledge and understanding of the game and rivalry between two great rugby playing nations. From a proud South African
ABs were awesome. There had to be a winner. Boks gave the ABs all the ball and were more than prepared for the quick game with high pressure. France also does a variation of a similar game. The best archrival to play in the final. Go BOKKE! Pity JW and JK won't in studio 🥺. For Rugby in all its shades.
cheers mate! The lesson ABs must learn going forward is don't give away penalties to the Bokkes in their own half cause Pollard just turns them into points.
A positive for me regarding the tmo has been the huge improvement in the discipline of the play overall. Blatant cheating by players and refs has ALMOST disappeard. To me this is BIG.
Totally agree and more can be done! Sensors in the balls to measure forward passes, computer generated offside lines. I don't see the problem. Cane was in no position to tackle legally, Kolisi atleast was bent over, these are the differences between yellow and red. Why can New Zealand not accept that the game is trying to move forward from "gamesmanship"
I’m a kiwi , end of the day there is a matter that isn’t getting addressed, we are wanting them to change the rules , guess what ? It’s not happening. Other teams like Ireland have adjusted , they never get carded , we are the worst culprits, maybe we look within at what we are doing wrong .
Regarding the TMO, the issue that comes in removing the system, what teams got away with before is now fairly impossible. It's why a lot of teams got away with changing momentum in a game. I get that complete intersections in the game slow it down, but it's keeping a fair contest. Rules are rules, head contact should be red, and I'm a saffa. If Siya got a red, I wouldn't have said anything as it's head contact. Technology is available and being used. It works and should stay. I do have a question, how much would these calls have been debated if the ABs had won??
Perhaps we underestimated the SA bomb squad, did they deliberately target a couple of our forwards, ie cane and the other forward who was yellow carded just to rattle them enough to get them out of their comfort zone. I would go as far to say that cane and the coach realised that when cane was red carded!
There is not an All Black fan on the planet who would not go back in time if there was an option of a TMO intervention to overturn the try against them scored by the forward pass in the 2007 QF. ONE TMO intervention there would have changed to course of history but now they are trying to make us believe it is a bad thing?
This was the best World Cup we’ve seen so far. Most viewed without a doubt. QF weekend off the charts for all involved. When NZ won in 2011 because the ref allowed them to do what they wanted at the breakdown, it was all good for you lot 😂. SA had 3 or 4 sublime backline moves that nearly resulted in tries in this game. Arendse twice nearly collecting clever attacking kicks. This bollocks about NZ would’ve won if not for this decision or that is embarrassing. They scored a try after the disallowed one. Had the first one been scored then they wouldn’t have been up there for the second one after a kick off. Wake up.
I am proud of You All Blacks 🖤 I will always support you 👍 I support you since my teenager years 👍 You are the best team never GIVE UP 👍 Beeing an All Blacks supporter its not for any one you have to feel it 🖤 Full support from Portugal 💚🇵🇹❤ FOREVER AND EVER 🖤👍💪🏉🌞 Cheers for all All Blacks Supporters all over the World 👍
I wasn’t going to post about the New Zealand fans being sore losers because I have a lot of Kiwi friends but it’s getting ridiculous. Here are the facts that need to be understood, swallowed andn digested. The best team did not lose, the best team won. That’s how it works. 1. You had 61% possession but failed to convert it into points 2. There is no referee conspiracy 3. There is no bribery and corruption 4. You missed 2 kicks - we missed 0 5. You got 1 yellow card and 1 Red 6. We got 2 yellow cards 7. We out muscled you on the field with immense defence 8. You confidently decided to kick for the corner when points were on offer 9. You made numerous handling errors 10. Your ill discipline cost you at vital moments 11. Some calls didn’t go your way but that’s rugby and it happens 12. Some calls didn’t go our way either 13. Certain decisions cost you big You have no one to blame but yourselves. It’s time to get honest and clear with yourselves, admit you lost fair and square and congratulate your old foe and leave it at that. We have lost to you numerous times and we have never cried foul like this. We take the loss on the chin and move on. This is not your last rodeo and you will be back to beat us once more. The Boks are world champions after one hell of a battle. We have nothing but immense respect for the Kiwis. Don’t tarnish it with the sore loser antics and moaning. We know losing sucks - we’ve been there many times - just not yesterday. For the love of the game!
But then you're just slowly turning Rugby more and more into American Football, where you're going to sit for 3 hours watching only like 30 mins of actual play (If you're lucky). My opinion, eliminate some laws and simplify others. Rugby is becoming way too technical for any ref to get everything 100% right. I think, overall, the refs in these big games (Not just the Bok games) blew 50/50's both ways. They didnt get it right all the time but at least the calls seemed to be mostly split down the middle. NZ had 2 chances to go ahead and fluffed their chances. One could argue for a forward pass on that try. Had NZ kicked their chances, the Boks might have shifted to a more attacking style and won anyway. You can't know and you can't base a result on a ref alone, particularly when he blew some calls NZ's way as well.
Can you just imagine how many red cards the famous cynical, ref schmoozing, flanker would of got if the TMO was as influential 8years ago… just saying.
I disagree with Steve Hansen! Firstly Ardi Savea did NOT release sufficiently imo and the ref blew correctly. Secondly, Sam Cane was upright in his tackle and, according to the current rules (which I don't agree with in its current form), a red card was fair. Siya Kolisi clearly makes contact with the shoulder first and is crouching in his approach - there is no dispute for me - yellow card at best. Great display of tenacity from the ABs - as was expected by all Bok supporters!
@@bertenz959exactly...that's why Hansen is not a referee and Wayne Barnes is. If that was Owen Farrell hitting Rieko high, Hansen would be squealing for a red...he has embarrassed himself with his obvious sour grapes.
100%. I've said it to everyone. I whole heartedly disagree with the head contact laws. There is no way you can mitigate head collisions to the point that they won't happen anymore. It is a part of the game and no player on that field does it intentionally. Rugby is being ruined by too many laws and too many reasons to card a player. That being said though, them is the rules. Don't get sour at the refs. Get sour at the idiots who brought these laws into the game.
Ye Steve, sack the TMO. That way you AB's can cheat as much as you want and can't be called out or penalized for it. Probably the most stupid thing I've heard in a while. Gotta say though, Hanson, your tears filled up my cup nicely thank you.
NZ can be very proud of how their team played. It continues to be an honor to play a country who's people are as obsessed about the game as we are. Regardless of who you supported, I think most can agree the TMO was way way too involved in this game. Honestly, I did not see it while watching the game live because I just wanted the boys to win and I did not care how given we had won by 1 point in the last two games. By the time the final whistle blew I was an emotional mess and just relieved. But rewatching it - my goodness, the amount of stop starts in the modern game is really out of control. And its when you rewatch the really old games (late 90s), you see just how much we have lost in the modern game. Yes, a lot of what we have now is driven by safety but we need to find a way to keep the safety but keep the game flowing. Even as a Bokke fan, I was very uncomfortable with the red card. Would the All Blacks won if Cane was not sent off? Nobody knows the answer but thats not the point. The game feels too academic right now. If the TMO were to go, I would not miss them. The irony is that the more systems we put to make the game more precise, the more antagonistic the fanbase is becoming about the game because we now expect every minute decision in every ruck to be 100% correct - which is impossible. And this, as Hansen says, puts the referee in an impossible situation where they are damned if they do and damned if they dont. This world cup, especially the quarter final weekend, was the greatest advert for this sport. While World Rugby should celebrate this tournament, as they move forward, they need to be sure they create an environment where fans talk about the brilliance of the teams they support and not the TMO. Literally nobody enjoys talking about the TMO.
Would you be discussing red cards if the ABs had won this match? I seem to recall a red card in the women's WC final not being mentioned on The Breakdown at all.
No, the bunker system works perfectly. For once the All Black's are being penalized for things they have always gotten away with. For years SA was screwed by referees missing things, and now suddenly when it gets pointed out, the losing team wants the system scraped because they don't get away with bad referee decisions anymore
Cards can be solved so easily. Yellow stays yellow. Orange is for anything thats red these days, anything dangerous but unintentional. The result is 20min sin bin with player returning, or if you want to go harsher, he cant return, but can be replaced with another player. Red only for disgusting intentional behaviour, like punching, biting, clearly lifting a player and driving him head first into ground etc. BTW i am a saffa and really felt for the sam cane red. Just know that not many saffas actually celebrated that red, most of us wanted a 15 on 15 game.
My opinion too. RCs used to be rare. I think(?) the ABs only got ONE from 1945-95. Look at the dif between an RC in the 1st 20min to the last 20min. But fhis has been obvious since day one
Yeah for me I would go 15min penalty and end of game for the offender. After 15mins a replacement player can join the team taking it back to 15 Vs 15. A whole team shouldn't be punished because of the actions of a single player especially when it is a final.
Not going to change anything. We will still have the same panels with the same bleating over boohoo our boy did nothing wrong boohoo go look at what did in that game against ; you would still have this panel bleating over Sam Cane's hit to the head being the same as Siya Kolisi's hit to the head which it 100% clearly was not! The same "Sam was off for 20 mins and Siya was only off for 10" will be used as an excuse for the "lucky" win by the Boks, in conjunction with the calls to remove the TMO so they can get the tries from knock on's that they feel they deserve. Of course, if a TMO had intervened in 2007 and overturned THAT French try in the QF, it would have been the correct call, they would be applauding it here and Graeme Henry would not have had to accuse Wayne Barnes of matchfixing.
@@Karma-qt4ji agree with you, NZ are quiet when they are winning and when they are losing, rules needs to change to accommodate them. Cards however is massive problem for rugby. I do feel that anyone who did not back rassie and criticised him for showing referee inconsistencies 2 years back has no foot to stand on now. All we heard was stop moaning, some go for you, some go against you. People missed the whole rassie video back story, he was not specifically complaining about decisions against us. He was saying there are inconsistent decisions and how does it happen. And all teams should have backed him then. But they made him the villain.
Why are NZ the only ones complaining about the bunker system. For me it's about fairness. If the bunker system ensures the right decision is being taken then it is value adding. Kudos for the ABs staying in the game with 14 men 👍🏆🇿🇦
This was a very balanced and fair panel - no excuses. Unlike the likes of sir JK who hates us and never has a good word to say about the Boks. Nonetheless respect to the all blacks from South Africa. Till we meet again!
No, you're wrong. Sir JK doesnt like the forward dominated tactics that South Africa employ, which he has stated many times . And I can guarantee he's not the only person around the world that thinks that. But yet you single him out. Not once has he ever said he hates South Africa, South Africans or the Springboks. By you pointing that out, clearing shows you're just on a mission to try and defame him. Shame on you.
The problem that sir JK has is that he can’t take the fact the Springboks are the best at what they do. We don’t care what he thinks about our tactics, he’s a salty pundit who can’t hold that L.
Ardie Savea is a great player. As a Saffa, I support his selection as Player of the Year. We love Ardie! And we don't always like playing against him. How is he not ABs captain? Massive respect to the ABs. The final was great and was the one we were waiting for since 1995. I said the whole week that if there is one team that we as Saffas would lose to in a final it is the ABs.
As NZder I wanna say congratulations! Much respect👏 The backlash is not aimed at you guys. It's the rules & TMO control of the game that's being complained about. Not just this game BUT other games too! Anyway, congrats again for your win! 😊🙏
@@nvwcj22 i understand, no rugby fans wants to see red cards in the game or even yellow card for accidental collisions. Cards should be for clear dirty play not accidental stuff.
AB's the most beautiful team to watch & Springboks the most iconic team given our history! From SA, every AB supporter can be super proud of the effort . That's a victory effort any other day.
As a South African, I hope we never meet the ABs in a RWC final again. As much as I want the Springboks to win, I cannot bear the ABs not winning. Such feelings of ambivalence … The ABs do have the stature they built up over more than a century, from a small pool of people and they deserve the global regard. My wonderful, passionate, chaotic and wounded country keeps us all just a millimetre from despair most days. A Springbok trophy is like an inoculation and the way the Springboks stared into the face of defeat, refusing to give up, is what we need more than anything else. The ABs were magnificent in their equally determined stance to win.
Great analysis and as a South African ,most of us would also say if we had to lose, we would rather lose to a respectable New Zealand team than any other team, our youngsters grow up to play against the Best, sorry for your loss, until we meet again in battle 💥⚡🙏🙌
As a Springbok fan, can't argue with the majority of the dream team. Kind of an academic exercise. Obvious some debatable - like when last did Doris play at 6? Furlong....mmm not sure he's even Ireland's best tighthead... Can make a strong case for Atonio and Mauvaka too. But just goes to show, the best TEAM isn't always the best individuals. It is the right individuals.
All you’re actually saying is let’s get rid of thuggery by getting rid of the TMO 😂 and get away with try’s that was knocked on! By the way the last try was definitely a knock on… Where was the TMO on that????
Get rid of TMOs when it suits NZ. Its funny, I havn’t seen any NZ campaigns on changing these rugby rules up until this game. These rules haven’t change a long time.
Describe rugby union knockon?? As the ball leaves the passing hand the ball travels forward. Forward means from the hand it travels towards the opposition goal line. This was the argument that was against Esteban against France. It left his hand the ball travels down his knee and bounces forward. The ball leaves the hand travels backwards was the ruling no yellow card no knock on or no slap down.
@@kylespindler8617 only because you lost again in a final against the boks! If you won you would have praised the officiating. You lots, end off! Now NZ has lodged a complaint… come on man!!! Why???
Kia ora guys, I watch the Breakdown from South Africa every week and I thoroughly enjoy the show. The opinions sometimes border on the ridiculous other times, salient but it’s entertaining. However, when SA complains about a refereeing performance we are castigated as bad sportsman. Yet respectfully, the Kiwis go full tilt whenever they lose…I’m surprised a another General Election hasn’t been called. We as two proud rugby nations hate losing, but hey, it’s not life threatening, so stop whinging and whining…you’re getting as bad as the Poms! You lost, get over it, move on. Well played the ABs, that was closer than we were comfortable with. See you next game. Totsiens and Cheers🍺👍🇿🇦🏆🏆🏆🏆🏉😀
Exactly…they understably gutted but they said earlier on that the days of AB (springboks too) dominance is over. Those two losses in the pool stages and then the big QF games showed that this cup is wide open now. Fijians get more play, Aussies get their sh1t together and we make a serious effort at keeping that cup in the south.
So let me be clear here from what Hansen said. He wants technology taken out of the game , no replays.....The very thing that prevents biased non reffing and controversy. This guy is living in the past his opinions should not be relevant.
As a Bok supporter - well played AB’s. We appreciate you guys more than you’ll ever know! On a side note, this anchor panel was a breath of fresh air! No whinging JK & Goldie!
Not too long ago, our coach got suspended by World Rugby for pointing out inconsistencies with the reffing in the so-called "Rassiegate" video. He was lambasted by the rugby world and all the coaches laughed at him and called him names. Rugby fans around the world and even in SA were the worst, saying he had lost the plot and should be fired. He took his punishment like the man he is. But what happened after was quite remarkable. It turns out that referees also want to put on the best performances and want to be the best they can be. They looked inwards and realised there was an unconscious bias against the Boks. All of a sudden, the calls being made were more fair to us and to the teams who have been playing on the fringe of the rules were getting punished. And so we felt the the playing fields were finally levelled. Although I tend to agree the TMO has become a self-made monster. Where was Steve? Where was Fozzie? The coach was Rassie. The ref in question at the time? None other than Mr. Barnes himself.
Question? why won't South Africa bring its anti-doping legislation into line with the new World Anti-Doping Code? It's simply a question about the rules.
Remember when Rassie and Springbok supporters were getting completely slated for talking about the ref and the inconsistencies a couple years back? For the last 3 weeks all we have heard from the French, English and Kiwi’s is how bad the officiating has been after their losses. Where’s that same energy when you were all slating us a few years back? Oh how the tables have turned 😂😂
As soon as I realised that John and Jeff were not part of this, I stopped watching. They're arguably the most insufferable rugby pundits, and I got addicted to them, now I am not able to get my "fix" this week. 😂😂

Siya's tackle hit the ball first then slipped up to Savea. Talea also dropped the ball forward when Barrett scored.? Siya made a steal and was penalized, however replay showed he was totally legal. (same as Savea) Freek Burger suggested that when there is a red card you need to bring one of your reserves early.
This World Cup was different 🤕 a lot of pain and upsets. But hey we made the final and lost by one point and that’s enough for me to be proud of being an AB fan 💯🇳🇿🖤 We will be back !! Bring on 2027 !!
When it's All Blacks, "the weather didn't suit them". But when it's us, Springboks - " forwards were tired etc." As if the weather suited us when we were playing against England.
That tackle argument about Kolisi's being worse is a terrible argument. lmao. Kriel wasnt exactly standing still. So the impact is very similar. The difference is Kolisi was bent over to tackle and was clearly accidental, so mitigation. Kriel got a raised shoulder to the face. No mitigation. He moved his shoulder forward to make the impact.
Maybe if NZ, the UK teams, Ireland and Europe starts complaining about the reffing, IRU or World Rugby, will listen. When we complained , our coach got banned for a year. Ah well, now that officiating has gone against the big teams, they might take a united stand. 💚💛🇿🇦
Hanson is a disgrace you sitting there and moaning about red card for Sam and not saying anything about what the law says about how he tackle illegally etc.. but when Dan Carter got tackled by Bismarck Du Pleeze and got red card for a legal tackle you didn't say what you saying now you win that game against Boks while it was the Boks who played with 14 men. SO DONT SIT THERE AND MOAN AND CRY ABOUT IT NOW.. WHEN IT HAPPEN TO AB YOU CRYING.. AB HAS BEEN POOR THE WHOLE WC23 WITH DISCIPLINE GETTING CARDS..

While not discrediting the boks defense, when your down to 14 after 3mins in the game, then yes it's going be difficult to beat the boks defensive effort
excellent honesty and sportsmanship from your side
WELCOMED‼️
Ive also complained about the officiating but not because the abs lost, because the officiating was awful and it needs to be fixed.
Just because the Boks played knockout style rugby (and getting the results), now we are branded as not “not playing rugby”. When the English did that in the semis, everyone hailed them. Salty with a hint of sour…
So so true! When any other team plays like we did, they are hailed, when the Springboks do, suddenly rugby is falling through the roof 😅
This reaction is another reason why the Springboks will win in 2027, just to drain the oceans of all the salt, because it seems rugby pundits have all the saltiness 😂😂😂
We have the title and they dont, tells you all you need to know, they pretend like it’s okay, but they struggling to keep a lid on those salt bottles

No bunker. TMO for "try or no try". 2 Captain's challenges per team. That's it.

SA here well played NZ. Your team is much better than they’re being credit for. You will see the results in the next 12 months probably at our expense

Thanks for telling us what Wayne Barnes was thinking at the time.
@@cryptostormer2512 I didn't see this one. Need to have a look if it is on the web.
I keep hearing ‘the weather didn’t suite them….’ It did the Springboks? It rains 2x as much in NZ than it does in SA…

They would have been biased as usual!
I've heard that they are still crying 😢 😭 🤣🤣
A positive for me regarding the tmo has been the huge improvement in the discipline of the play overall. Blatant cheating by players and refs has ALMOST disappeard. To me this is BIG.
Totally agree and more can be done! Sensors in the balls to measure forward passes, computer generated offside lines.
I don't see the problem. Cane was in no position to tackle legally, Kolisi atleast was bent over, these are the differences between yellow and red.
Why can New Zealand not accept that the game is trying to move forward from "gamesmanship"

He's a coward 😔 I wanted to hear his point of view but he opted hide away
I’m a kiwi , end of the day there is a matter that isn’t getting addressed, we are wanting them to change the rules , guess what ? It’s not happening.
Other teams like Ireland have adjusted , they never get carded , we are the worst culprits, maybe we look within at what we are doing wrong .
Surely everyone has realized by now, If Beaudan gets hit hard a few times early he will stop running it and start needlessly kicking away the ball.
You should have seen him in Super, he played 10 but looked really scared of contact. That's why he got moved to full back imo.
The problem is, if you don’t have a strict rule, players will do it deliberately and beg innocence.

Wake up.
Well said.
Plus the second one should not have been awarded. Forward pass by a mile.

I wasn’t going to post about the New Zealand fans being sore losers because I have a lot of Kiwi friends but it’s getting ridiculous. Here are the facts that need to be understood, swallowed andn digested. The best team did not lose, the best team won. That’s how it works.
1. You had 61% possession but failed to convert it into points
2. There is no referee conspiracy
3. There is no bribery and corruption
4. You missed 2 kicks - we missed 0
5. You got 1 yellow card and 1 Red
6. We got 2 yellow cards
7. We out muscled you on the field with immense defence
8. You confidently decided to kick for the corner when points were on offer
9. You made numerous handling errors
10. Your ill discipline cost you at vital moments
11. Some calls didn’t go your way but that’s rugby and it happens
12. Some calls didn’t go our way either
13. Certain decisions cost you big
You have no one to blame but yourselves.
You forgot to say one thing my friend!!! 'BUT er must stay humble and we need to work on our mannerism!' Then I will agree with your post!
I would rather have the TMO intervening than losing a game because many things were missed, especially if its high stakes world cup games.
Cheats like mcaw would get away with murder if there's no TMO
Sir JK I am waiting for your review of the final. We have had briefly the 2 musketeers Jeff & Mills, just need that the 3rd now. 😁😁
@snok1986 I think you mean Stooges haha

I disagree with Steve Hansen! Firstly Ardi Savea did NOT release sufficiently imo and the ref blew correctly. Secondly, Sam Cane was upright in his tackle and, according to the current rules (which I don't agree with in its current form), a red card was fair. Siya Kolisi clearly makes contact with the shoulder first and is crouching in his approach - there is no dispute for me - yellow card at best. Great display of tenacity from the ABs - as was expected by all Bok supporters!
Thats why hes a world class coach and your nobody
@@bertenz959 An that us why Rassie Erasmus and Jacques Nienaber or the best in the world and you are nobody.
Well said and yes, very disappointing from Steve Hansen.
The All Blacks were the most carded team of this world cup...Maybe learn tackle technique before you start sledging the ref.
Spot on ✅✅✅✅
Cards can be solved so easily. Just know that not many saffas actually celebrated that red, most of us wanted a 15 on 15 game.
right on!!
Sour grapes. If you look back at all those decisions the ref got them right with the TMO.
Basically what these guys are saying is the TMO shouldn't have intervened when the decisions went for the ABs but he should have when it went against.
Why are NZ the only ones complaining about the bunker system. For me it's about fairness. If the bunker system ensures the right decision is being taken then it is value adding. Kudos for the ABs staying in the game with 14 men 👍🏆🇿🇦

The ABs do have the stature they built up over more than a century, from a small pool of people and they deserve the global regard.

Where was the TMO on that????
Get rid of TMOs when it suits NZ. Its funny, I havn’t seen any NZ campaigns on changing these rugby rules up until this game. These rules haven’t change a long time.
Describe rugby union knockon?? As the ball leaves the passing hand the ball travels forward. Forward means from the hand it travels towards the opposition goal line. This was the argument that was against Esteban against France. It left his hand the ball travels down his knee and bounces forward. The ball leaves the hand travels backwards was the ruling no yellow card no knock on or no slap down.

Whinging Foster...
