Love this quote and the one he makes earlier in the movie (quoted below in comments by sapphireaudios). Am 25 and yet to have some father-figure resemblance in my life that could inspire me like John Silver does in this film 😊
Ahh, when he says something like "And when the time comes to really see what you're made of, well, I hope I'm there, catchin some of the light comin off you that day." ;-;
It's original because of that. They took a really good base idea, and made it THEIR OWN THING by turning it into space. That takes some amount of creativity to create such a richly unique asthetic that has NEVER BEEN DONE before OR since. Have you seen badass space ships like the ones in this movie? Me neither. Solar surfers don;'t exist anywhere but in this movie. It may use treasure island as a base, but holy shit it made it it's own unique thing. I wish more stuff like this existed.
Remember going to see this when it came out in theaters. Great movie, and every boy should see it. It very inspiring. Did I mention the soundtrack is one of the best ever made for a movie. Only real men tear up at the ending.
Darth Panzer I was aware that it combined a form of digital artwork, I did notice it and I absolutely adore everything about this movie. From the storytelling to the art delivery... which is why I don't like to read what went wrong cause it's always something stupid like "The story wasn't action packed or constantly dramatic," etc. Hence my wondering if it didn't compare to these CGI of lego men and barbie dolls.
As someone who grew up without a dad, this movie taught me a lot. This movie might have flopped when it came out, but now that I am a full grown man I will be forever grateful for the impact it had on me when I watched it as a kid.
Same here dude! I loved this movie as a kid and grew up in a very similar situation as u. Ironically I saw this movie in theaters with my dad before our relationship deteriorated. Makes me think of him sometimes
I could totally relate to Jim's situation because my mother ran away from my dad and I when I was young. the pain of a parent just up and leaving you isn't an easy hole to fill. but there's always other parental figures you can always look up to that you meet in life.
I'm 33. I never saw this movie growing up. I seen it for the first time recently. It brought tears to my eyes. My dad left my mom with 3 kids when I was 4 years old. I was very lucky, I had a great man come into my life and take the time to teach me so much. Dave Allen, I miss you.
My dad loved watching this movie with my sister and I when we were kids and would watch it alone sometimes. He died shortly after from suicide. It took a while to realise he must’ve liked how hopeful the movie is and seen himself in Jim, hoping for his happy ending and guidance. His parents were both abusive lowlifes. This song makes me so emotional sometimes, the few people that know this movie keep its beauty alive. Hope you’re doing great dude
More like deliberately undermarketted so that the traditional animation movie department could get the axe in favour of the full CGI, despite the fact that Treasure Planet was a perfect blend of the two and would have been more spectacular if the renewed 3D revolution hadn''t come 10 years too late.

And when the time comes when you get the chance to really test the cut of your sails and show ‘em what you’re made of... well, I hope I’m there, catchin’ some of the light that’ll be comin’ off ya that day.” ~ John Silver
It's depressing that this film, along with Atlantis, were huge box office bombs. Because these films were amazingly animated, had fantastic characters, grand world building, great musical scores and interesting stories. And the fact that Treasure Planet had a seemingly never ending development cycle and little recognition from the animation industry, that's is just heart breaking.
I'm 17, and I have to say this is ( I think) the only Disney movie, I actually like to see more than once. It just will always have a special place in my heart ❤️ 💙

I appreciate the fact that they "disneyfied" this story the right way : emphasizing the relationship between Jim and Long John, making it almost father-to-son. Simple and moving.
Treasure Planet has been and will always be one of my favorite movies. Too bad... Majority of the kids these days probably don't know about this awesome movie.
Gen z here. I have loved this movie since i was young. It is one of my favorite movies. This movie is one of the main things that inspired me to do art.
I adore this film although I think it was released ahead of its time and that's why it didn't do very well but if it was released now it would do really well.
I rewatched this movie recently since the live action Aladdin movie came out, and I cannot get enough of Treasure Planet! This movie is such a classic, always will be, I’m glad my dad introduced me to it, and I would take it any day over a live action version of an animated classic!
I would love to see a live action version of this one, but I don’t think so. Maybe a 3-D version with the Star Wars theme on it like the frozen animated .
We all do, but sadly they didn't add it in there. People have made great concept art for that too and it makes me sad that it wasnt in there because it was a great movie and came out the same year as the first Kingdom Hearts game. I guess that movie was just ahead of it's time.
Wow this comment is gold! This should have been on it instead of just all Jack the Sparrow! It makes sense since they travel in space like dimensions and what a great way to add some new fans to this under rated film.
I hate how underrated this movie is. It's one of my favorites, and I remember discovering it when I was a teen which is really great but also really sad because I could've loved it longer if I could've discovered it as a child! But thanks Netflix for having it ahh so beautiful
it ended up failing not because of the plot or whatnot buy it was released at the same time as Harry Potter, and as you know (or don't) it was a huge hit that many overlooked this movie. it was simply a matter of timing.
When disney realized how expensive this movie would become to produce they made it a (marketed) flop almost on purpose so that the audience wouldnt expect such quality again

I’m actually really glad they never made the 2nd movie. Because this story had an end and tbh it couldnt have been better it was wonderful and I love this movie so so so soooo much
Graymin Agreed, if anything I’d be open for a full CG proper Sequel. Cause unfortunately according to Disney 2D Animation is “dead” I disagree but it is what it is.
The only reason yesterday's feminists seem "true" is because of retrospect. Men have always hated feminists and, if you were alive in the 40s, they'd have made you cringe, too.
You mean like an HD version just like they did to ”finding Nemo”? Since it’s a great movie it would do pretty well and it might make the sequence see the light of the day
Such a great memory for seeing in theater back in 2002 with my mom and my younger brother. I really miss Disney doing the 2-D/Hand drawing animated styles. However, I really want to be a movie director for my dream job in the future and I really want to bringing the 2-D/Hand Drawing animation styles once again on the big screen for future Disney movies.
Now I feel like I'm getting old lol even though I'm 24 cause I was a kid when saw this but I haven't seen this movie for longer then 10 years but it always reminds me of my childhood!
@@Band-maid-fan101 ohhh yeah that version. Yeah I didn’t really fw it it sounds really similar but it’s just different enough to wig me out. But that’s my problem not anyone else’s lol
This movie had such great rock songs! I think it’s so cool that Disney went a different route with the soundtrack and had rock music in the film. I think that’s the only Disney film that has rock music. Treasure Planet was such an underrated movie! I love how it’s a Steampunk take on the classic Treasure Island story.
No matter how long it has been, if anyone have been an impact to me during my lifetime....When I feel the sun or see myself I'LL ALWAYS KNOW WHERE YOU!!!
Honestly I feel that the reason is why Treasure Planet is so underrated and did so bad in the box office is because Jim is a character of a really particular layer of youth to which not too many can relate, and to them his journey also doesn't have that much of an impact, but to those who do, definitely list this movie as one of if not their favourite animated movie.
My dad would always work my friend and I never saw him growing up. He was always out making that money going out in the gulf of Mexico and fishing for shrimp.
I still love this movie so much. A special place in my heart.

Do you know the problem with this film? It's simple. It was premiered under the shadow of Shrek and the rise of the CGI animation. In early 2000 nothing could compete with the computer animation, but Treasure Planet has one of the most impressive soundtracks I ever heard, and an animation that even today is amazing. The relationship between Jimmy and Silver is so fantastic, and somehow, make you feel better. I don't know, it's just an underrated film that REALLY deserves a second chance! Give yourself a chance to understand the importance and the impressive message this movie contains about life, maturing, and grow up!
My dad passed away last valentines day and sadly when i was teen he couldnt be there for me when i needed him but i know he would have wanted to be and i know where he and my mother are... in my heart and thats why i will always know where i am.
it's because of this movie that my love for space AND the sea became thoroughly cemented. I'll be going out to sea soon. A day from when I posted this.
You know, I wish there was a Treasure Planet 2, but *only* if it was made back when this kind of good material was being produced. Considering how bad the movies they make are now, I don't want them even *touching* a second version of this. They will just figure out some way to fuck it up, and I don't want this ruined ;_;
zuzoscorner Very true, that's why I'm glad they didn't try to revamp or make a second one nowadays. Jim doesn't need to be like these clichéd things you called "characters" in modern Disney movies.
I've seen that, but honestly, even if the script is good, who KNOWS what they could do to ruin the second movie. I mean, for example, look what they did to Conker lately, it might have a good concept behind it, but they RUINED it with how he looks. And if this is the direction people are going with remakes in general (aka, fucking up looks, personality, graphics and etc), I don't want them to take an old gem and just drive it into the ground even deeper so that no one wants to deal with it. I'm extremely hesitant on how a second movie in this era would go e-e''
Ive never seen this movie until today. What a masterwork of art loved all of it! Im 32 years old btw and now im sad that it tooked me so long before i watched this movie🤷♂️👌

This movie is what practically bankrupted Disney's animation studio, which I find really sad because this has always been one of my favorites.
I watched it with my dad when i was little and it kinda made me feel good for having a father ya know?
Glad it got them bankrupt, then they couldn't make a number two
Mainly because of the CGI stuff taking over, huh?
It's always such a pity to hear it go bankrupt cause I absolutely love this movie.
YourDarkAccomplice Actually it's one of the most ambitious Disney movies, it combined 3 total art styles, i guess if you google it you will find out.

To give you back the things they took from you
And I feel you now
I'm not alone
I'll always know where you are
And when I see myself
I'll always know where you are
Where you are
And I've found something
That was always there
Sometimes it's gotta hurt before you feel
But now I'm strong
And I won't kneel
Except to thank who's watching over me
(except to thank who's watching over me)
And somehow
I feel so strong
And I've begun
To be the one I never thought I'd be
And I feel you now
I'm not alone
I'll always know where you are
And when I see myself
I'll always know where you are
Where you are
Now
It's all so clear
And I believe
That everything's been opened up to me
And I feel you now
I'm not alone
I always know
I'll always know where you are
And when I see myself
I'll always know where you are
And when I feel the sun
I'll always know where you are
And when I see myself
I'll always know where you are
Where you are
After all these years, still my favorite animated movie ever

Beautiful movie
Treasure planet. Is my favorite movie ever
Great movie 2024 90s kid ❤
Thanks john reziznik for a perfect song to remind me of my childhood

They never make movies like this anymore
whoever was tht one dislike is dead...WHO WOULD HATE THIS!?!?!?!?!
he is only joking you know that right?
Agreed.
george brownsea You can't know that.
i almost cried
2023 and Still listening to this wonderful Song♥️
"You got the makings of greatness in ya"
I’m actually really glad they never made the 2nd movie. Because this story had an end and tbh it couldnt have been better it was wonderful and I love this movie so so so soooo much
Core memories with this song
Imagine this movie getting a live action using today's CGI tech. It will be visually appealing to see.
Graymin Agreed, if anything I’d be open for a full CG proper Sequel. Cause unfortunately according to Disney 2D Animation is “dead” I disagree but it is what it is.
Hell no
Oh god no
No, live action remakes are terrible. But yet I kinda want one of this
Just imagining realistic Amelia and Delbert scares me
I LOVE this song and it's not on Spotify!
they should re-launch it.
+JVMstudio and what's wrong with feminism..?
The only reason yesterday's feminists seem "true" is because of retrospect. Men have always hated feminists and, if you were alive in the 40s, they'd have made you cringe, too.
LanaDelSlay Hahahhahahahahahahaha
Race Star nope
You mean like an HD version just like they did to ”finding Nemo”?
Since it’s a great movie it would do pretty well and it might make the sequence see the light of the day
This song reeks of early 2000's and I fucking love it.
I hope this gets in the next Kingdom Hearts game. This would make such an amazing world.
Treasure Planet was a bomb movie. Always will be!
Love that movie
Now I feel like I'm getting old lol even though I'm 24 cause I was a kid when saw this but I haven't seen this movie for longer then 10 years but it always reminds me of my childhood!
They should make a second one
They were, but they canceled it because of the box office fails even though the movie was good
Wow that really sucks
I hate that I can’t stream this song anywhere
It's on Spotify
@@Band-maid-fan101 is it? The actual version? I can’t find it
@@MaxibonHR it's from someone called pellek but it sounds the same
@@Band-maid-fan101 ohhh yeah that version.
Forever my number 1 Disney film, I miss these characters, and their world.
No matter how long it has been, if anyone have been an impact to me during my lifetime....When I feel the sun or see myself I'LL ALWAYS KNOW WHERE YOU!!!
Still not on spotify
I like this movie since I was younger. I will be movie director, when I have a job.
Man this movie hits different for people that grew up with father issues or without a father
My dad would always work my friend and I never saw him growing up. He was always out making that money going out in the gulf of Mexico and fishing for shrimp.
Yeah
I mean, I’m sure it being released against Harry Potter: Chamber of Secrets wasn’t the best either.
This Is The Best Movie I Have Ever Watched My Entire Life It Goes So Deep I Cry Everytime ;(
Oook.
I mean this one and How to Train your dragon. but this one hits just as deep.
I like the music.
One of the most underrated films ever, not just for Disney! Amazing film with a great soundtrack!
This song has always given me hope ever since god knows when, I loved it when I was a child and I still love it to death now
I like this song and the movie as well since I was younger. I remember seen Treasure Planet in theater back in the year of 2002.
the most underrated animation movie.what a sad
My dad passed away last valentines day
and sadly when i was teen he couldnt be there for me when i needed him
but i know he would have wanted to be and i know where he and my mother are...
in my heart and thats why i will always know where i am.
That will change my life .
it's because of this movie that my love for space AND the sea became thoroughly cemented. I'll be going out to sea soon. A day from when I posted this.
how was the sea?
You know, I wish there was a Treasure Planet 2, but *only* if it was made back when this kind of good material was being produced.
Considering how bad the movies they make are now, I don't want them even *touching* a second version of this. They will just figure out some way to fuck it up, and I don't want this ruined ;_;
+Nepeta Leijon yup problaby add in cliched romantic interest, some bad motivation villains and crap that factory copy and paste.
zuzoscorner Very true, that's why I'm glad they didn't try to revamp or make a second one nowadays. Jim doesn't need to be like these clichéd things you called "characters" in modern Disney movies.
+Don of the Pussi Search up the idea for Treasure Planet 2, its an old script (I Think), but I really wish it was a thing
That is the most beautiful and accurate comment which I have ever had the utmost pleasure of reading O_O
Oh good song and the song was great and the song was great and the love tonight ❤stay l
Treasure Planet was a cinematic masterpiece
One of my favorite Disney movies, can't believe how much they don't care about it, they should really start listening to the fans tbh
