Yes ! My MIL is sending scammers money every chance she gets. She is on her 4th or 5th scammer by now. She won't listen to reason. We're at a loss on getting her to stop.
my close 73 year old friend lost all his life savings to scammers pretending to be famous business people but he kept it secret. Lucky for him, he has a good family and friends so he's OK and he has a so so pension from his company.
@@tf559 I don't think his daughter thinks she can change him. He won't change. That's why she has to make sure he isn't in the streets because he gave everything away.
I'm always wondering why elderly folks are so distrustful towards their own relatives, but as soon as a "lovely" stranger comes around the corner all common sense and safety measures get lost.
Because relatives don't tell you what you want to hear. Elders are often delusional about their possibilities in terms of dating (and other things as well) and they don't want to be told the truth, because that would mean accepting the idea that they're too old for something....
They're almost all narcissists who have grandiose ideas about their own importance, attractiveness and desirability. Not one of these victims has been down to earth or realistic. Narcissists use magical thinking and believe that they will find a "perfect" love who will fulfill all of their emotional needs. This is why so many of these victims cling to the idea of the scammer even after it is clear they aren't real. Narcissists prefer the lie to the truth. The truth is like death to someone with their mental health issues. Truth means accountability and they will do anything to avoid it.
The only woman that will be there as he ages and likely the one that will take care of him. He's shaking as someone with Parkinson's (just revealed he has Parkinson's) Don't mean to be cruel but he's in no shape if the women were real. This is saddest case I've seen. There has to be a special place in hell for people who scam people. God Bless his daughter and Scamfish!
The second scammer had more chances to be real, and be the kind of woman that WOULD be there for him. But, you know, men will go for looks over anything else. Makes you put in perspective why you'd be there for a man. How much of a joke being a "good woman" really is.
@@DH-ts6ho Even the second scammer is just way out of his league. I'm a not exactly attractive woman in early 50's but certainly never would be interested in a man who has got disability and no intelligence.
It’s hard but his daughter needs to show tough love here. Ppl as delusional as her dad, particularly the elderly, often fall into this extreme level of hostile stubbornness where they’d rather hurt themselves and their family than admit they need help. Their concept of ‘freedom’ to do whatever they want is priority despite the damage they cause, just like when a geriatric person is blatantly unsafe to drive but they’d rather put their’s and other’s lives at risk than admit their limitations. I hope she gets into therapy so she can put down the guilt her dad is piling on her, cuz she’s done nothing but try to protect him. He needs a conservatorship and she needs to stop trying to apologize or explain to him cuz he’s just not going to accept it.
To get guardianship , they have to take a mental capacity check. This guy would pass the test easily. His problem is that he is seeking attention by these scammers and is too trusting. Unfortunately not much can be done at this time.
🤔 Well really, if he earned the money (his *own* finances), its up to him what he does with them. And if he wants to foolishly gift them to a spotty Nigerian teenager boy, masturanding as a sexy young girl who wants to marry him and have his babies.....well that's his prerogative.
why, b/c he is elderly? what if he was 30smthg who had spent 100 grand on scammers and sold his house? no-one would say that. It's ageism and it's gross. It's his $ he can do what he wants. And conservatorships should be illegal
He’d “do anything” for a total stranger but not for his own daughter. 🙄 A lot of these elderly people who fall for scams say, “My daughter/son just doesn’t want me to be happy!” That is ridiculous. Your child is the only one trying to protect you and do what’s best for you! If you want to find a date, meet somebody in person - there are matchmaking companies that can vet people for you, churches or synagogues that host singles’ events, or meet someone at the coffee shop or bookstore. He keeps ”falling in love” with a different woman every month; that’s not love, that’s lust.
Well, online there are easy ways to verify if someone is real too. Video chat an don’t send money to someone you don’t know. I don’t know why it’s so hard for these people to understand that concept.
@@viewandchew i dont think men lusting after women is a sign of trauma! Apart from his depressingly normal lust for some buxom young thing, he has Parkinsons, which can affect peoples cognitive ability as well as the physical symptoms . therapy wont change that im afraid..

Maybe he is trying to take his mind off his disease and loneliness. But it's absurd to let him blow thru his retirement. They could hire a companion for less.

I was saddened that Gary so gratefully thanked Drew and Breanne for showing him every last woman he thought he was dating was a scammer - but didn't have a word of thanks or even a glance of appreciation for his daughter who loves him enough to let him hate her for "interfering". I am glad you both gave her the kudos she deserves.

Not unless he was medically evaluated with dementia or Alzheimer's and legally ruled incompetent. He has a right to gift away his life savings and home. People DO have individual rights.
Its horrible how Gary degrades his daughter in this episode even though his daughter is only trying to help him. Gary has already lost alot financially, sooner or later he will lose his daughter.
I think he'll come around down the road, and he'll understand why she did those things. Life is short and they seem to have a lot of love for each other
I love how easy it is for people to judge other people that they don't know... especially when these people are putting their failures online to help other people... some people have a lot of pride and shame/embarrassment and lash or because of that

"All I wanted was your money Garry. Bye" Daughter needs to report all this to his Doctor. He needs a fiduciary/POA because he can't handle his finances safely.
Why would she want that burden? All of you are so lazy and ridiculous, the moment some one does something wrong, you're supposed to lock them in some kind of conservatorship
@FC-hj9ub You must have some kind of mental impairment too. One thing wrong is an absolute understatement and he has a progressive neurological disease ya dolt
There are literally tons of women his age who are single. He could meet one in a Parkinsons support group. He wants the fantasy of some young chick. Why would a young gorgeous woman want some old sickly man that she has to nurse Other than money what can he offer? I also wonder about the 2 failed marriages. I hate the way he speaks to his daughter.
Sadly he's got nothing. If a real young women liked him it wouldn't be for him. It'd likely be to take him for his money sadly. Play the wife card , take care of him and have a big pay out. It's sad really.
They explained the first marriage. Who are you to judge? As people get older and they feel their independence is being taken away, it is hard on them and they become angry.
Oh I don't know - what has any man got after several marriages - yet folks still think that one ageing narcissist fool is the second coming of Christ .......! 😂🤣😂🤣 How about getting a tad less judgemental ..... after all, no-one even mentions the nasty woman that he went on a real date with making rude comments about his shaking hand - and blowing his confidence into nothingness leading him to look online ....... and falling for these scams can happen to anyone - that's the whole point of these programmes!
Because being the difficult person he is, he still thinks he deserves a younger and more virile woman in spite of his condition. In short, I really don't feel any compassions for this man or what he has been through.
Why does he think women young enough to be his granddaughter would want to be with him other than for his money? His daughter loves him and wants to protect him, but his anger is making him push her away. He's nicer to the people who steal from him than he is to the person that he created.
It's so bizarre how this guy admits to being fleeced for tens of thousands of dollars yet is angry at his daughter for trying to protect him. "Just leave me alone and let me lose all of my money to a scammer if I want to!"
The fact that this old, delusional, disabled man thinks he can still holler at hot young women (and they are into him too) makes me feel like this is a hopeless case. The daughter either needs to get conservatorship, or he needs to lose every cent. It’s awful to say about an elderly man, but he’s just set on doing what he wants.
Almost all of these cases are like this. Older or conventionally unattractive people who are flattered by some 35 year old man or woman who wants them.
I don’t think that’s the answer. There are many sights that claim to run reverse searches. Those, in and of themselves are also scams, because any information provided by scammers will generally end in a dead end search. I’m stopping short of recommending social catfish because the only function I’ve used is the reverse image. It identified the girl in the photo as an up and coming porn actress who three years ago had dabbled in film, producing 10 fairly successful videos and many solo photoshoots then suddenly there was very little activity, some solo photoshoots. Even ppl in the industry could not tell what she was up to. I’m writing from Hawaii and this girl in the photo and I have been texting and sending recorded voice messages back and forth. I had a reliable source tell me yes, the girl in the pictures is the girl known as “Trisha”. Now all I needed was to see who she really was. That’s when I saw this site. I was googling images of “Trisha”, and kept coming up empty. But this “Social Catfish” site caught my eye as it offered reverse imaging. In less than 5 minutes I had a name and a whole lot of pictures…and 10 videos. I chose not to watch them because this could potentially be the girl I’ve been communicating with. Using the name provided by social catfish, I then narrowed my search on google to… lets call her Ms. K, and googled her in Hawaii. Bingo. It pretty much echoed what I already knew, but google provided financial information and I can see why this girl was working 12 hour days. Her annual income is respectable, though low for Hawaii cost of living. Long story short, haven’t met her face to face, I mentioned to her that I had “stumbled” upon some of her photoshoots, Her reaction was mild. We talk every day and my phone is buzzing now, I’m pretty sure it’s her.
Gary, your daughter is not being judgmental - she has a sound judgement, something you should be proud of in your kid and thank her for it since she is acting in your best interest. You better be nice to her because you're going to need her help when scammers leave you living under the bridge.
He doesn’t realize how lucky he is to have a daughter who looks out for him. If you are dumb enough to send $100k to a scammer, you need someone controlling your life.
No beautiful young woman would never want a disable elderly man! He is way way to desperate! Hats off to his daughter, she’s trying so hard to protect him.
Man the look of dissociation the daughter has when her dad is scolding her for “spying” (trying to protect a vulnerable loved one) just shows how she’s at the end of her rope. Kudos to her for loving him in a hard way, one that he may not be capable of recognizing
I had a problem with my elderly mom just dismissing common sense and being irrational. I would suggest Alexa contact his doctor. He may need his meds adjusted. He may need a mental evaluation. If he is throwing his money away she needs to stop that before he is broke.

@@cheery-hex the point is he’s going for women way above his league and seems shallow. It's just bizarrely ironic that he can say that she "needs to stay out of his life" in one breath, and in the very next say, "Oh, I've lost about $120,00 to scammers." Pathetic.
Well after all and despite his Parkinson, he is “just a man”. There is nothing wrong with having sexual desires but this poor guy should stay away from social media for good. So much money already lost... and the daughter being desperately trying to help him but he is so helpless seeing all these naked women popping up on his screen...

I feel Alexa's frustration, too. She loves him so much but he abuses her for 'controlling' him when she's trying to protect him. This is a very painful situation for both father and daughter.
The comments above me are exactly why I didn’t bother commenting. He was very handsome in his prime. He is also very intelligent. Being duped in a lonely, vulnerable state does not make someone unintelligent. His diagnosis completely upended his life and hopefully they never have to experience that, not having a partner to live out their golden years with. People are completely heartless these days.

Everytime i finish one of these vids i find myself thinking - this guy's going right back online to repeat the same mistakes. They all seem to be appreciative of the investigators & even agree with their findings. But these guys always make comments that show a real hesitancy of giving up the fantasy. It's like a gambling addiction. "Well, i lost 10 grand playing a slot machine. So I'm bound to win if i just keep playing"
Bless this daughter. I would distance myself from my dad if he ever treated me like this. He’s so blinded by the idea of a woman that he can’t see his own daughter is trying to help.
Garry, you weren’t hypnotized. You were willfully ignorant. After being scammed once, why would you still send money a second time? He’s lucky to have a daughter that cares so much about him. I get that he wants to be independent but he clearly makes bad decisions on his own and he needs supervision when it comes to the internet. He needs to dial back that attitude towards her before he ends up giving away vital organs next 🙄
I think he needs to talk with a relationship counselor . I think he could benefit very much from this ! Not just for his potential romantic relationships ; but for his familial relationships as well . Maybe also if this gentleman could discover a new hobby or interest ; this would help him as well ? I wish he and his daughter the very best .
It's easier for Gary to attack his daughter for being controlling rather than face the reality that Parkinson's disease is robbing him of his independence and a normal life.
This is why people should work on friendships as much as they do on romance when they younger. Most people disregard their friendships once they get married. He would be lonely if he had friends he could hang out with.
Gary, you are LUCKY to have a daughter like that!! She doesn't wanna be up in your life, she wants to PROTECT YOU from getting scammed AGAIN!! Jeeezz!!

He's going to end up needing his daughter to look after him - with no house, no savings and no pension. What a selfish, thoughtless, ungrateful old man.
That's insanity. Dad royally messed up and now is offended because his daughter is trying to knock some sense into him. Geepers creepers, what is so hard to understand about the words "DON'T SEND MONEY TO PEOPLE YOU MEET ONLINE!!!"
Wow, how nice to have an extra $100K to throw away! I've said it before, and I'll keep saying it: resist the urge to send your money to strangers and if you truly want to give your money away, give it to an animal rescue and take the tax deduction!
Better hope you dont become mentally ill where you cant control your emotions and there is someone to be 'patient' enough with you. I bet you make a great child to your parents whom if they became ill with parkinsons, dementia, alzheimers where they need constant care and observation for their safety and other mood altering diseases you would be the first out the door and first to collect inheritence. I have lived first hand at home with both my parents dying from dementia over a period of 15yrs and let me tell you this. They change their personalities and you no longer see them the way they used to be and they become very depressed, isolated, angry for no reason at times and mentally unstable and they do things and forget things that you wouldnt even think of and need constant supervision. Patience is the key factor in dealing with ppl in these conditions even though it may frustrate you. Yes my parents were doing my head in daily but I was still patient to accept their conditions and try and help them best you can. If one lacks the patience then I see them as abandoning those that are suffering and only coming back to collect. But I guess you know better without ever understanding first hand what its like to live with ppl with such diseases. Ppl living with cancer compared to these type of disease is simple as those with cancer can still live their normal lives to an extent and still mentally aware of who they are. But I guess everyone is a neurosurgeon these days and knows how the brain functions and its affects on our physical and mental being.
He needs a legal conservator. He isn't making decisions that are in his best interest. She's a good daughter. He has a very bad attitude I've seen in dementia patients. He needs to be declared unfit. This is easier said than done.

Hello Morena, greetings from Ireland. This is a very sad case of an older man being duped by scammers. I fully agree with you - his daughter is an Angel. She is only 27 and has all that responsibility on her. The way he treats her - but some of that is due to his illness. I wish you a lovely weekend and stay safe 😊🙏 Michael
Treats pixels better than his child. 100k can do a lot of good for your family. What a crappy parent. What a lovely, caring daughter. If you have retired and are over a certain age, a child of yours, with evidence, should be able to freeze your assets in cases like this. Anyother postion is ading and abating criminals.
Gary should not be at all angry or annoyed at his daughter. For some reason, he is not able to recognize scammers but his daughter has the ability and common sense to do it for him. He’s lucky to have her.
I think he's more angry at himself than at her. Sucks getting older. I'm 57 but my mind thinks like I'm still mid 30's, and that mind sometimes wonders who the hell is that old lady looking back in the mirror? @@ans_939 Alexa, thank you for taking care of your father. It must be so frustrating. He was so good looking as a younger man and reality is not as nice. You're a good daughter.
He owes his daughter an apology. Recovering from a romance scam takes so much time, money, and effort from those involved (family). That's what these people don't understand. It affects the entire family!
When he kept complaining about his daughter being in his business, I was hoping she’d say “what are you going to do when you run out of money because I’m not bailing you out and you aren’t living with me.” Of course, he doesn’t want to so it’s not much of a threat at the moment. As an old person myself, I cannot understand how these people get so easily tricked. I get handsome young men contacting me too, but I learned where the delete key was 30 years ago.
I would have told him he’s on his own and refused to bail him out when he needed money. He was abusive and arrogant towards her. I can only imagine what he’s like when there are no cameras.
Is this the most deluded of all Catfished guests? I think so. I mean, it's like he literally can't understand the concept of what you mean when you say someone is fake. "She's not real." "Yes, she is. She replied to a message." How could you not say, "It's a man typing that to you and sending you pictures he found on the Internet of a model and saying he's her"? That was kind of frustrating to see.
I'm going through the same thing with my Dad. We lost my Mom suddenly and tragically in 2019. He went through all the life insurance and recently sold their home of 30+ years. It's so hard to try to help someone who believes the scammers over you. I have been telling and showing him for years. I've taken him to see a lawyer and she told him the documents are fake. He doesn't listen or believe anyone besides the scammer. He still goes and gives them money. I've now made the tough decision to cut ties with him. He's given them my number and they have threatened me and know personal info that only he would know. It's devastating to watch your love one go through something like this but he doesn't want my help unless I'm giving him money. I still grieve the loss of my Mom and now I grieve my Dad because he is so far gone.
You don't deserve to be disrespected over some stupid lust fantasy. It's hard but you are doing the right thing. I've walked away from my dad because he cost me so much money trying to bail him out and he was so ungrateful. Live your life and make the right choice for you. You can't make the right choices for someone else if they refuse.
I'm so sorry to hear this story but I think you did the right thing. If a person is acting like they are not interested in being loved then all you can do is treat them accordingly.
Omg the house he sold is beautiful! 😢 You sent your life savings to a group of Nigerian scammers! I really enjoyed this episode. Alexa, please get power of attorney over your dad. He’s not capable of taking care of himself anymore. His mental health is soooooo bad. Tremors and Parkinson’s can and does affect the brain. You have every right to intervene when he sent his life savings to strangers online. You aren’t nosy, you’re loving. Please don’t give up on your dad. He needs to live in a care home or nursing home. He’ll have older people there his age to socialize with on a daily basis. He won’t have to seek out attention online. Good luck.
Just an FYI, but the person needs to give you power of attorney, and I don't think this guy would give it. To "get" power of attorney, or guardianship, is an expensive court process. Your doctors have to prove incompetence to the judge.
"I can't believe you scammed me. You have ruined my life Jennifer. I thought you loved me." "All I wanted was your money Gary, Bye!" Well, at least she was honest at the end.
Gosh how can be so heartless.i know that they dont get the money if they working in a big call center the boss does.but I believe in karma and believe these people will be knocked off high horse.
With all due respect for this man who suffers from a terrible disease and lives in a remote place but how can he think that any young woman could be interested in him? Why didn’t he look for a real woman about his age? What’s wrong with men? Or with women for that matter, we’ve seen here enough. Sending all their life saving for an illusion the don’t want to lose. He can be thankful to his daughter who cares a lot about him and had also lost her inheritance.
I ask this about most of these people. No offense to them but these "online" scammers using models pictures and the victim thinking hey she's in love with me. Come on.
He's hoping for one last chance. He doesn't have much time left to land a true love before his body and brain will prevent a normal healthy relationship. This one supposedly fell in love with him without seeing his tremors. He probably thinks he has to hide them and can only hide them on the internet. He's willing to risk a lot for that dream.
You heard him say why he does the online dating and not in real life. Many other men on here are just horrible, and so is this guy but in a way he's also very vulnerable too, as he does have something he is very self conscious about. The one time he meets someone irl, they say something that negatively affects him, about something he cant change and that sticks with someone. I can't help but wonder if this was a woman who was feeling this and had experienced that, if people would be more understanding of why he chooses to stay online.
Garry, you asked if we would like to be spied on and I would like to answer that question. No, I would not like it but if it turned out that the spying saved me from being scammed out of a hundred thousand dollars, I think I might decide it was worth it. And by all means, date who you want but just don't send her any money. If you are building a relationship with someone and she asks you for money, that should be a signal to you to kick her to the curb. Garry was an extremely good-looking man in those pictures of him when he was young, but those pictures were 30 or so years ago. I wish he could take an unbiased look at what he looks like NOW and then look at the pictures of his online "lover" and see if he really thinks the two are a good match. I get it. As we get older, we continue to see ourselves as we looked in our younger days but that is just not realistic. I am 75 years old, and I still THINK of myself as a young woman, but my mirror tells me a very different story and the truth is that no good-looking young stud is ever going to come knocking at my door. And Garry, when someone tells you they are STUCK in some foreign country but if you send them a few thousand dollars they could get UNSTUCK that is a part of their scam. It's also a very common lie that many many many scammers use. PLEASE listen to your daughter. She loves you and wants the best for you and she is sitting right there beside you but the person I did not see there with you was your on-line lover. How many times have you met this on-line lover in person? Did you know that no matter how many times she SAYS she will come and see you, some catastrophe or emergency will ALWAYS pop up that will prevent her from making the trip. She will NEVER come to see you, because she doesn't exist. She is more than likely some young Nigerian boy who has stolen some good-looking woman's picture online and is using it to scam you and a few dozen more just like you. Do not ever think you are her one and only. The scammer will have many victims on the hook at the same time. The average annual salary in Nigeria is less than 14 thousand a year so if a scammer, who is probably very young and thus would be at the extreme bottom end of that average if he had any income at all, can get you to send him ten thousand dollars every few months, he is making much more than most people make and that is only from YOU. He is also getting money from other victims. Even if you found out this person is real, which is highly unlikely, why would you want to be connected with a woman who would be willing to ask a total stranger for money?
And everyone watching, other than you, can give you at least 120,000 reasons why your daughter is 100% right and you are too far into a hole to see the light.
Great post. This story is the same in every scamfish episode, someone who hadn’t come to terms with thier current reality/age and think there is a 35 year old man or woman in love with them. Every single episode!!

I'm always wondering why elderly folks are so distrustful towards their own relatives, but as soon as a "lovely" stranger comes around the corner all common sense and safety measures get lost.
Great observation, I never thought of it like that. Your family can be crazy sometimes, but better to listen to them than some stranger

It’s hard but his daughter needs to show tough love here. Ppl as delusional as her dad, particularly the elderly, often fall into this extreme level of hostile stubbornness where they’d rather hurt themselves and their family than admit they need help. I bet the courts are full recently, of children trying to get control over their parent’s finances. When all the money is gone the parents need help, and then turn to their children. How horrifying for those children.
If my dad was as naive and desperate as this dad then absolutely YES I would go through his phone! He frigging lost his home to these scammers and his daughter is just trying to protect him because she loves him and she is getting yelled at for it!!!! So sad!
If he was my dad, not only would I look through his divices I'd take them away or disconnect them. This stuff is emergency level. He doesn't seem like someone that would understand any technical issues anyway.

This story is heart-breaking. Gary was clearly a handsome, intelligent, cultured man, but Parkinson's disease is destroying him physically, but worse still, mentally, too. I feel Alexa's frustration, too. She loves him so much but he abuses her for 'controlling' him when she's trying to protect him. This is a very painful situation for both father and daughter.
Handsome?
Intelligent lol, ok.
@@E4_MAFIAnah he's definitely NOT intelligent

Now every time I get a friend request from a stranger, I wonder if it was them. The main woman whose pictures they ripped off was an influencer named Angie Verona. I told him… they talked their way around that. I tried so many things! But the hope… the dream that this pretty thing wanted HIM - was addictive. We need an update on Garry because I get the feeling he's not going to stop talking to any "new" scammers that approach him (I say "new" in quotes because the same crew of thieves will reach out to him again since he gave money before. Everytime i finish one of these vids i find myself thinking - this guy's going right back online to repeat the same mistakes.

Those 3 things are a terrible combo. Heaven forbid his actions cause him to to add "poverty" to an already bleak list.✌🏼
@@blueneptune825 For real. He's so fortunate his daughter cares as much as she does.

The more reason why he shouldn't be seeking young, attractive women.
Jeeezz!!

The fact that he loss everything and is arguing with his daughter shows he hasn't learned anything. Leave him to his own demise.
It's addiction. Addiction to attention, which Garry badly craves, and when someone is in the throes of addiction, they can lose everything.
She may just have to do that but then she may still end up taking care of him as he debilitates more

Exactly!
Or share it with those in need within your family.
When you work for 30 years, you should have a lot more than that in a retirement fund!!
They want something in return.
Gary get's what he deserves. His daughter is a saint and so patient with him.

He should thank God every day that his daughter loves him enough to take on this aggravation and help him. She certainly doesn’t deserve his anger. If anyone deserves to be angry, it’s his daughter. He’s lucky to have her.

I think he's more angry at himself than at her. Sucks getting older. I'm 57 but my mind thinks like I'm still mid 30's, and that mind sometimes wonders who the hell is that old lady looking back in the mirror? His daughter is an upstanding and patient person. He is lucky to have her.
To be fair, he is cognitively compromised so we don't truly know how much of this is the "real" him.
Adult social services should be involved. This guy is obviously not fully in control of his faculties, and is open to being targeted by scammers.
I'm so sorry that you have been through this. It's heartbreaking.

Good luck.
You are spot on! He is neurologically impaired (and also stubborn😵).
Probably it's not that Parkinson affects the brain like dementia but there is some research that suggests that both diseases have common root causes.
Just an FYI, but the person needs to give you power of attorney, and I don't think this guy would give it. To "get" power of attorney, or guardianship, is an expensive court process. Your doctors have to prove incompetence to the judge.

@@terriburroughs1660 That’s why he has to send $ 100k to this woman who looks like a porn star and could be his granddaughter?
All good points.
Well said !
