Oh I like this one! Flipping residential lots sounds like a great idea and very much in the “landlord” vein. I also like the idea because Laird is so good at upgrading.
The save bug you keep getting is a bug from living on an apartment complex you own. I moved out to a normal residential in my save and a lot of my bugs disappeared. I would probably move out to a residential then sell all the buildings, and if you wanna be really thorough maybe convert them into residentials then back again? Thats how I got around like 3 or 4 bugs but it also might have created 1 when I did that, where it gave all the apartments a daily rent of like 4 billion, then if i bought them the rent would turn into -1. But if you restart the game before the rent goes to -1 then it should fix but it might duplicate all the rental units in your UI if you purchase it. Basically you were cursed the moment you bought this pack.
I don’t mind watching you troubleshoot the bugs because I’m dealing with the same bugs in For Rent. I agree with you I say sell all the buildings. Move Lairds household to a residential and start a new save. Then try to buy back your current buildings. Maybe we use those 4 buildings to save and buy the hotel as the final endgame building. You could sell all properties to only own the hotel at the end

With the known current For Rent bugs corrupting game saves, I am super worried for James's Bigwallet LP save file. Everytime he encounters the save error, my heart stops. Sheeshhh!
I'm very late to this but James uses a different save file each episode, so if one were to corrupt he'd just have to load back into the save file from the previous episode
I've not had near as many of the For Rent bugs that you've had, probably by following a simple rule - *do everything to rental lots while they are empty*. I only buy empty buildings. I set rent and rules only on empty buildings. And I move my Sim in/out of a building only when it is empty of all other tenants. Oh, and I go to the world screen to save. I think it would help if you emptied the buildings, sold them, and "refreshed" the save this way. Not sure what all mods you are running, but I've got all of mine plus UI Cheats, BBB and MCCC, and a few LMS, so mods shouldn't have much of an impact. You are owed $300k. I'm loving the series!
I think Mr Abernathy should be an honorary Bigwallet. He might not technically be part of the family, but he feels like just as much a family member as anyone else (and he didn't set anyone's ranch on fire like Oak).
I mean, Plumbella had a video for the wedding pack where they stopped as soon as they hit a bug and ended up with an immediate bug right at the beginning XD
The wedding pack, dine out and now for rent are all just.... buggy as fuck packs tbh. Ngl, it's why I stopped playing the sims a long time ago. I now just live vicariously through let's plays but it's still painful that they aren't fixing their older packs - which likely are where errors keep coming from, just to add new content with even MORE bugs.
I haven’t watched all the way through yet, so I don’t know if you figured this out, but you can find CC objects in the trash. If that bed is CC and you have CC filtered off, the items won’t show up in your inventory, but they’re still there.
he's aware you can find cc items in the trash, but he might've turned off the cc filter and just forgot about it like he did with the eco footprint and aging lol
I reckon you should get some solar panels and water collectors to reduce your bills, at the moment they're higher than the rent the game is giving you!
i honestly commend you so much for making the series even with all these bugs. I haven't been playing sims 4 lately just because of how bad it seems even though i don't have any mods or anything. you have so much patience and it's always so funny and entertaining!!!! thanks james!
James you should have Column open a potions shop in glimmer brook and sell potions of youth. your other sims can go buy any potion they need for a high mark up and that would be another way of having your sims not age up so fast
First James video I’m watching on my new tv and for some reason I never noticed James has freckles! The video quality for one of my favs was much needed 🤌🏾
1. Build 1 epic rental lot 2. Sell all current rental lots 3. Turn all lots in game to residential except the 1 you just built 4. Buy the 1 new lot But also before you do that complete the other aspiration because i think you have to be a tenant for it
I wonder if rent is based on the day you get new tenants in - so if you had new tenants come in on a Thursday, and their lease is for 7 days, you get paid the following Thursday? Dunno - I'm glad you're being the guinea pig for this pack. I was thinking of buying it when it was first announced, but now now so much. I've only got so much tolerance and bandwidth for dealing with a buggy game. EA sure has the funds to put into pumping out new content all the time, but rarely seems to dedicate any resources to improving the quality of their existing games.
as someone who's played as both landlord and renter, i've not noticed any of these bugs. but then, im not also playing in an old save file and owning multiple properties 😁
The extra fabricator in your household inventory probably was a career reward. Also, if you do "sell to collector" on all of Mr. Abernathy's paintings, it will get his fame up really quickly.
With these bugs, I'm glad i decided to NOT buy this expansion pack! The Sims 4 Team should really sit down and fix them (there are sooo many), instead of just producing more packs. I myself really don't like playing anymore bc of them.
I haven't played sims myself because the bugs started to stress me out really bad, then I found James series and started to enjoy the game again but now I'm just stressed out again by the bugs. I really don't know how you can keep playing this and make it enjoyable, I would have deleted the whole game already
Bless you, James, for putting up with this buggy pack. Do whatever you think will work to make this pack work/easier for you to play with. It's giving me flashbacks to your original Dine Out LP. Maybe Carl can fix For Rent, too. No pressure, Carl 😅😂
You could "move" to an empty lot, and then just exist on the original building, have Wren move into the really nice place that you just renovated and then you can essentially still live there.
Damn you have the patience of a SAINT! It’s a skill to make bugs enjoyable to watch 😂 Maybe it might be your mods playing into it too? The fact that you’re not getting maintenance events or protests on your other lots might be a sign that the game isn’t registering them that you own them?
james in his last member video: "nowadays I make sure to have a goal for the video so its not just me doing daily stuff and the episode goes somewhere" also James this episode: whatever this was JKJK i loved this episode as always, just felt like it was a lot more chill in terms of what happened thid gime haha
I believe your tenants can actually be late on rent - that is part of the game. The same way that they can refuse to pay a fine. I have not experienced it yet in my own game, but I think you can see it in the unit tab if someone is late, broke a rule, etc.
these bugs are so interesting and annoying because I don't have any of them except that if a tenant dies, I can't fill vacancy, and have to do it in manage worlds. other than that, my sims own 4 rentals and are also living in one of the ones they own. sucks that james has so many, maybe it could be a mod thing, even thought i also use mods...
Same I haven’t had most of these bugs and I have a lot of mods. I go through and update them with every patch release! Hopefully a repair of the game and an update to the mods will clear some things up for the next episode
I get the orange box every time I travel to a different lot in my game. I think it's just more broken stuff in the game itself. ETA I think you should build another apartment lot owned by someone other than Laird and set rules. Then she and Mr Abernathy can move in there so she can break a rule. Also would be a good way to see if that fixes some of the other issues. But first, make sure your mods are all up to date. I know LittleMsSam has updated several.
I'd say to sell everything, move into a regular lot, change everything to regular residential, save, close and reopen the game, then change it all back to rentals. I wonder if it would also be best to leave the apartments empty until after Laird buys them back too? I also think you should try bringing Vlad back into the game/his house, Forgotten Hollows just isn't the same without him and his clan of kids 😂
I'm having so many of the same glitches! Now I'm watching to see how you fix it lol. I don't even have For Rent. But I have the recurring MCCC error message, the inventory weirdness where things exist in both places, and a couple others I noticed and now forgot. It's been a hell of a time trying to play this darn game. Somehow the episode is still super fun to watch luckily! I love how James takes funny little detours, he has all these plans and then he drops everything to save some NPCs from freezing to death. It's the best.
don't forget that some of that money loss from rent could just be from tenants who are overdue and refusing to pay and you have to go to the tenants and ask them for the money and if they do not pay you can evict them.
Please dont forget to gift the keepsake box to Laird, you had Mr Abernathy take over because you were worried youd forget if Lady had to gift it then IMMEDIATELY forgot 😂
I'm voting a full reset of your rentals, without cheats to increase number of units cap, and Laird and Mr Abernathy living on a regular residential lot. As far as I can tell in my own game owning multiple rentals isn't nearly as buggy as it is in your save but I don't have any mods and I never cheated the rental caps. My main landlords are the Landgrabs because of course they own everything 😅 I have had some issues with property owners who live on a rental residential lot and own other rental residential lots.
I love the idea of Mr Abernathy being one of those people on UA-cam that don't fully understand how it works but he's just having fun, going about his day with his little drone
I feel like maybe you could try just disabling all mods for the next Episode or half of it or something and seeing if it works better. Maybe that makes it better and if not, you can just enable the mods again🤷🏼♀️ or you could try it in a separate save in a members video, test it out before next Episode and then decide if you will sell the buildings etc, what you mentioned at the end of the episode. 🤔
I've been saying this from the get-go, but then other people have been saying they dont have MODs and still have the glitches. idk. I haven't had any of the glitches seen here, ever and I pre-ordered the pack. The Rent pack has been working just fine for me. (Lucky I guess). But deep down I feel like the glitches he has been having are somewhat self inflicted with a MOD or CC (he does have CC in the game) active somewhere on his computer.
But I 100% disagree about him ever making ANY of the Bigwallet's episode members only. I know he has done some Bigwallet build videos for members only, even though he said he never would paywall the Bigwallets.
@@tabytastick I didn't mean a Regular Episode! I just meant save as a different save game, a parallel universe if you want, and try if Removing the mods changes anything. Obviously it would not be an option to make the next Episode only for members, that would be really bad!
@@tabytastick and I don't have the pack and haven't really watched anyone play it, so I dont know what glitches others have. @@tabytastick mods & cc aren't a dormant virus or something. a mod that needs updated may be the cause of some of these problems, absolutely, but the game itself is also busted and has been for years. some people say it's because he's using an old save file?? which if true is a testament to ea's greed-you can't play with the sims you love in a file you've built up; with every new half-assed pack they release, you have to make a new save file and start all over. there's no life in this franchise anymore because ea is scummy. i didn't mean for this to become a rant but it's warranted so,,

I love how we started with the intent to use Mr. Abernathy for his fortune, but he has now become a central character that we must protect at all costs 😂
Your patience is much appreciated. For your sanity I think a clean out and rebuy makes a lot of sense. Maybe just don’t have her buy the lot she lives in and just own the others?
I think sell everything, delete all non LP rentals, and have Laird buy them again. I’d also consider culling older Bigwallets and making a new save game. Yes, I know it’s a lot, but it might help things be less buggy.
I actually love the idea of Laird fulfilling the wishes of the elderly in exchange for there household funds as her side hustle. Her updating Mr. A’s camera so he can fulfill his life stream before he goes on to ghosthood is actually kind of sweet. Maybe with the stipulation they have no family that could “ inherit” there money.
Yeah if I were you James I'd reset all of the rentals, sell them all, reconvert them from rentals to residential then back to rentals, get the bugs sorted out off camera. Also you could take the building you're currently in, change it to a single residential and make the bottom floor your 'rental management office' and the upper floor your home (Without making it a rental unit ofc) That way you can stay in that building (after resetting it ofc) you get to keep the first floor as the business front looking thing, and you can make it 2 floors again with a greenhouse on the roof and stuff.
Maybe Laird could have science baby with mr. Abernathy. They’re friends and maybe mr. Abernathy would like to leave a legacy behind, that way there could be branch of rich property owning Abernathy-Bigwallets running about in the future
Sooo, For Rent isn’t the best pack but …and buggy but I also think it’s just kinda not great as a rags to riches pack, even working properly. When you get in a two week window of apartment is built and tenant’s are just there and you are just living your life (whatever that is) and being a property owner is just one factor in that sims life, it actually works just fine and rent comes in regularly. You’ve been moving people in and out, not to mention doing building renovations, which is always gonna screw up that first rent payday as you are messing with values all week, but if you want to renovate the building removing everyone…including yourself, is the safest way to build without the game stopping you from editing ‘occupied units’. But once tenants are in rent cycle you don’t want to be planing any major building reno. Maybe items and furniture, but since the effects of changes are a slow burn…you literally have to walk away sometimes and go back, it doesn’t really play well for changes within the rent cycle once it is going. It’s not a very grindy pack. It shouldn’t be this way but, it is hard to impossible to do any Major Building Renovations with ANY tenants in the building. But it also will screw up the rent cycle (flaw of the pack) to not have had someone in there for two full weeks. I have two main lanlord characters I play regularly and also the Landgrabs who are my propery owners I have go buy properties when I want to set the property rules for gameplay purposes but then just leave the Landgrabs unplayed and play in these as units tenants. The landgrabs own properties in like 5 worlds and my other two landlords both own multiple properties without a problem. One lives on his property and the other doesn’t and I am currently not experiencing any major bugs with either. Mostly cause they have been allowed to stay set up as structurs and occupied for more than two Sims weeks. Maintenance events are a slow burn once the property settles and even seem to stop. Not sure if EA is messing with these. They seem to exist like lot challenges, something that will happen with a bit of unknown randomness while you go on playing your sims life. For the two property owners I do play in my rotation, I built the building filled it with renters and only stop by for occasional maintenance and maintenance events. For my landlord who lives *in* his own property, now that it’s five star I just gave him another aspiration and he’s dating his bestie and that’s his gameplay now besides a bit of light tending to his properties. (He lives in one of his properties but has two).
Laird should continue looking for more older business partners like Abernathy. Then instead of adding all of them to the household she moves them into a retirement building and either doesn't charge them rent as compensation or they have super low rent. Should be a pretty nice place. Abernathy can stay if you decide but could be nice story line. Also, I think it makes more sense for Laird to be more of a solo woman and maybe even have a science baby like her mother was for the next gen. I personally got the vibe she's an asexual career woman. Or someone who is content without a romantic partner. Maybe even adopt. Love you James, been watching for years!
I've notice with my sims I can gain the most fame by taking photos. Each photo I select to upload and then sell. You can do it multiple times with the same photo but you gain more with new photos. If the photos are in poor quality you can't upload them but you can still sell them off. Just click on the photos themselves, not selling from your inventory.
I guess you have tried repairing the game through the ea app (maybe more than once could help) or update/remove the mods and try without them for a while.
I think the Better Buy mod is inflicting many glitches in your game. I know everyone loves to praise that mod, but last time I tried it, I noticed it made every single item behave like CC and that’s where many glitches appeared I never had before

I say you give the $300,000 back to Laird when Mr.Abernathy passes away as if he willed it to her.
i love that Mr. Abernathy stream vlogs as a hobby, it just fits his personality so well!
James uploading the SECOND I sat down to relax…. Perfection 🤌🏻
The bug frustration is so validating
I don’t mind watching you troubleshoot the bugs because I’m dealing with the same bugs in For Rent. I agree with you I say sell all the buildings. Move Lairds household to a residential and start a new save. Then try to buy back your current buildings. Maybe we use those 4 buildings to save and buy the hotel as the final endgame building. You could sell all properties to only own the hotel at the end
36:20 I don't think I usually hear James say """bad words""" but hearing him say "whole ass bed" caught me by surprise 😆
i think james was using """bad words""" in growing together lets play. tbh no surprise - bugs on bugs on bugs on bugs.
@@everybodyhatesmarcel Totally understandable!! I'd turn into a sailor if I was in his shoes 😆 (I skipped Growing Together let's play so I wouldn't know what happened there)
Trying to take care of infants while every adult sim on the lot "tries" to pick up the infant so then NO ONE does makes me swear constantly
@@Kristenhas3cats OOF. Classic Sims 4 experience, then 💀 good thing I skipped buying this DLC as well, missed another bullet, it seems
rags to riches but the game gets increasingly more buggy and unbearable. poor james
With the known current For Rent bugs corrupting game saves, I am super worried for James's Bigwallet LP save file. Everytime he encounters the save error, my heart stops. Sheeshhh!
Pretty sure his save game is backed up somwhere on his pc
(llamaboz) oh Mr. Abernathy is certainly in the Bigwallet lore and a new challenge for freakinchaz and the family tree! 💖
It'd be really cute if Laird adopted a kid or two and Abernathy got to be grandpa for a bit before he passes
😂 people always talk about the wedding pack being buggy but for rent seems like it is even more buggy
I mean, Plumbella had a video for the wedding pack where they stopped as soon as they hit a bug and ended up with an immediate bug right at the beginning XD
@@minimongoose i think she should make one with this pack as well.
@@Silverfur01 welp, that may have a slight impact on his bills 😂
I reckon you should get some solar panels and water collectors to reduce your bills, at the moment they're higher than the rent the game is giving you!
i honestly commend you so much for making the series even with all these bugs. I haven't been playing sims 4 lately just because of how bad it seems even though i don't have any mods or anything. you have so much patience and it's always so funny and entertaining!!!! thanks james!
I can hear James repeating in his head "it's not bugged. it's not bugged. it's not bugged." 🤣
james, you should sell mr abernathy's paintings to the gallery, i believe he'll get fame from that
art collector gives fame, gallery gives more money (no fame)
@@Silverfur01 Nope! Gallery definitely gives fame as well. I regularly get famous long before painting masterpieces.
I absolutely love his freckles (in a totally platonic way lol)
Mr Abernathy NEEDS a Cat.
Watching James deal with all the bugs is way more fun than actually playing and experiencing them myself. Haha!!
I feel like you (and Laird by proxy) are owed financial compensation for the amount of bugs you’re experiencing!
1. Build 1 epic rental lot
2. Sell all current rental lots
3. Turn all lots in game to residential except the 1 you just built
4. Buy the 1 new lot
But also before you do that complete the other aspiration because i think you have to be a tenant for it
I read somewhere when there’s a unit with more than 6 units there’s a chance your save can get corrupted.
Mr. Abernathy's stream is titled "The daily life of a millionaire landlord" ❤
he'd be such a hit online lol
The extra fabricator in your household inventory probably was a career reward. Also, if you do "sell to collector" on all of Mr. Abernathy's paintings, it will get his fame up really quickly.
With these bugs, I'm glad i decided to NOT buy this expansion pack! The Sims 4 Team should really sit down and fix them (there are sooo many), instead of just producing more packs. I myself really don't like playing anymore bc of them.
I have most of these bugs and I don't have For Rent 😢
It’s cause they’re greedy and don’t care what we think. Seems to be the norm with the world today.
The Bigwallet Emporium/whatever it's called now, should definitely be the final/awesomest property :)
I think you're not getting the full amount because of the tenants that are overdue. I don't know why they had to make it so complicated...
Lets never forget to report bugs.
I love that Glames discovered the fire but was also unbothered by the other sim being set on fire. No reaction whatsoever.
How much do I like James’s videos? Enough to dump my current favorite show at the most dramatic moment when a war is about to break out! 👍
I saw James posted so I finished studying quickly to watch... I've an exam tomorrow, but still need to chill a bit ❤
james in his last member video: "nowadays I make sure to have a goal for the video so its not just me doing daily stuff and the episode goes somewhere"
also James this episode: whatever this was
JKJK i loved this episode as always, just felt like it was a lot more chill in terms of what happened thid gime haha
If you get the witches cauldron, you can make huge batches of food to sell in the food stand 😄🙏🏼 like 12 portions instead of 4 or 8 🤑
Aind since now Abernathy is in the household, they could cook together and also have 12 servings of food!! :}
I believe your tenants can actually be late on rent - that is part of the game. The same way that they can refuse to pay a fine. I have not experienced it yet in my own game, but I think you can see it in the unit tab if someone is late, broke a rule, etc.
these bugs are so interesting and annoying because I don't have any of them except that if a tenant dies, I can't fill vacancy, and have to do it in manage worlds. other than that, my sims own 4 rentals and are also living in one of the ones they own. sucks that james has so many, maybe it could be a mod thing, even thought i also use mods...
deffo think james should test gamplay without the betterbuildbuy mod and see if it makes things better esp if inventory is buggy
Same I haven’t had most of these bugs and I have a lot of mods. I go through and update them with every patch release! Hopefully a repair of the game and an update to the mods will clear some things up for the next episode
Do you have the horse ranch installed?
@@tabatha9577 no, do you think that could be bugging the game?
I get the orange box every time I travel to a different lot in my game. I think it's just more broken stuff in the game itself. ETA I think you should build another apartment lot owned by someone other than Laird and set rules. Then she and Mr Abernathy can move in there so she can break a rule. Also would be a good way to see if that fixes some of the other issues. But first, make sure your mods are all up to date. I know LittleMsSam has updated several.
it's so funny how the two latest videos of james' are mostly "computer science" (troubleshooting the bugs) and math
I'd say to sell everything, move into a regular lot, change everything to regular residential, save, close and reopen the game, then change it all back to rentals. I wonder if it would also be best to leave the apartments empty until after Laird buys them back too?
I also think you should try bringing Vlad back into the game/his house, Forgotten Hollows just isn't the same without him and his clan of kids 😂
agree with resetting because this is stressing you out too much.
It's the best.
don't forget that some of that money loss from rent could just be from tenants who are overdue and refusing to pay and you have to go to the tenants and ask them for the money and if they do not pay you can evict them.
at 35:13 the streaming drone follows Mr Abernathy into the bathroom
He is just running the strangest OnlySims. XD
My main landlords are the Landgrabs because of course they own everything 😅
I have had some issues with property owners who live on a rental residential lot and own other rental residential lots.
I love the idea of Mr Abernathy being one of those people on UA-cam that don't fully understand how it works but he's just having fun, going about his day with his little drone
I wonder if there are some mod conflictions going on? Your good idea to reset the rentals back to residential then rental sounds good. What a pain!!
So in the next Episode the game would resume from the exact point it ended this episode and there wouldn't be any Story or anything happen in the members video! Obviously it would not be an option to make the next Episode only for members, that would be really bad!
@@tabytastick and I don't have the pack and haven't really watched anyone play it, so I dont know what glitches others have. Obviously it's always been a "some have them and some don't" with the glitches in Sims but I do think it would be well worth a try to remove all mods and try playing in it for a bit. Because than we would know whether the glitches are from mods or not
@@tabytastick mods & cc aren't a dormant virus or something. a mod that needs updated may be the cause of some of these problems, absolutely, but the game itself is also busted and has been for years. some people say it's because he's using an old save file?? which if true is a testament to ea's greed-you can't play with the sims you love in a file you've built up; with every new half-assed pack they release, you have to make a new save file and start all over. there's no life in this franchise anymore because ea is scummy. i didn't mean for this to become a rant but it's warranted so,,
If you still want hi jinx in the home why not have a bunch of roommates? This way you’ll be residential but still have misc sims around
Laird running out of the house with the fire extinguisher going killed me 😂
Also petition to rename this series to "Bugs to Riches"
Rags to Bugs.
The richest you get, the more problems you have. XD
Hello, James, I'm not sure why comments would say the landlord living on the premises caused a problem with collecting rent my sim Lives on the property and owns a second property and collects rent sometimes on Wednesdays and sometimes on Thursdays this Thursday's rent payment was $10,000 I think it matters how large the apartments are and the amenities. 🥰 Love your videos haven't missed one
Fun video! You should buy one big building and only collect rent from that to hopefully avoid the bugs.
Shame on EA for not fixing them!
Laird running though the building with the fire extinguisher on is so funny 😂
James could put the paintings from Mr Abernathy in the apartments to improve the enviroment
Maybe Laird could have science baby with mr. Abernathy. They’re friends and maybe mr. Abernathy would like to leave a legacy behind, that way there could be branch of rich property owning Abernathy-Bigwallets running about in the future
i love this idea!
Okay, that is actually kind of adorable and sweet though.
I love this idea!
Save isssues + super old save is probably the worst sims combination 😮 Hopefully the bugs get fixed soon
I know Laird isn’t having any babies anytime soon but I think when she does, she should name the child Mister (after Mr. Abernathy)
I say Jacob or Nat but Mister is nice
I’d say Abe, but Abe just feels like it’s not a name a young person would have lol
Love you James, been watching for years!
instead of selling the paintings,,, use them to "decorate" your rentals!!!!!! and raise your rentals stars
I think he tried this and the paintings didn't have environment.
35:10 does the drone stream Mr Abernathy going to the toilet? 🤣
quality content!
There could be that some tenants have overdue rent
We need Carl to do a Dine Out type overhaul mod for 4 Rent!
Laird should live in a castle! She can manage all her properties from there 👑
I guess you have tried repairing the game through the ea app (maybe more than once could help) or update/remove the mods and try without them for a while.
I like how the closed captions just get more and more wild over the course of the episode
I'm loving the Teddy Fresh fashion!!
I think the Better Buy mod is inflicting many glitches in your game. I know everyone loves to praise that mod, but last time I tried it, I noticed it made every single item behave like CC and that’s where many glitches appeared I never had before
