This flight originated in Rurrenabaque, have a look at the description for more details such as the flight number. A cockpit visit required some networking prior to this flight. It was the fifth and final F-27 flight I was on, so I knew the crew by then. The difficulty is there is no jumpseat - I was standing behind the engineer. That's why not all crews allow a visit during takeoff or landing.
Hi Loran, very nice video! I like it very much, because I remember me at the time when I have been in 1979 in El Alto and also to the Fokker -F 27. I had to travel in 1978 very often by Iberia from Tenerife ( Los Rhodeos) to Fuerteventura and they are using this type of aircraft. It wasn't a very comfortable machine and the noise of these turboprops inside and outside of the cabine was horrible!
Hi Christian, sorry for the late reply. This is all the recordings I have from the approach & landing. The departure can be seen in this video: ua-cam.com/video/0Dk7iKdMMw8/v-deo.html
Two things: a.) Crikey, Illimani's a big mountain b.) The lack of development on the extended runway centreline implies a certain expectation of unintentional ground contact! How's that for a confidence booster?
Hi there, can you tell me how did you find flying with this airline? I'm taking BOA from La Paz to Uyuni next month and am a little concerned about safety.
skyclasp Hi there, BoA is fine, nothing to worry, I found them absolutely ok. The video however is showing TAM, its basically the civil branch of the Bolivian Air Force and is flying under different juristical conditions (e.g. insurance coverage is different).
hermoso!!!, saludos desde mi hermosa Ciudad de México!!! Pronto estaré ahí!!!

Gotta love that F-27 sound! Used to see Lawrence Livermore Labs bird in the 70s

what was the number of flight?
TAM571, although they don't have any formal designator. I think the boarding pass said F571.
Cool vid! Any idea why they were wearing gloves?
Love this video ... great sound too!

Where did you come from? I will go there next month and I want to fly the F-27. Easy to be allowed to go in the cockpit? Thanks for answering.
