It was pretty much teased the entire game with Samurai being so prominent and flashbacks to Johnny performing live. I thought if I didn't get to play a live show with Samurai I'd feel ripped off.
No matter how buggy the game is, it's still a really good game and I think people overreacted a shit ton. Especially those that still bitch about it, despite probably never playing it.
As a musician, this scene always makes me miss being on stage and just annihilating the strings on my guitar. It’s so well made, it really encapsulates the feeling that being on stage gives you, no matter how small the gig is.
Dude same. I felt the same way encountering this mission. I used to be a preforming musician and damn do I miss it sometimes. I do all in studio now, but watching this really got to me. Made me wanna jam out to some punk again.
Exactly my thoughts about that scene. I used to be in a rap crew, we were relatively successful in our home region in the late 90s and early 200s, sometimes we played in front of crowds of 800-1000 people, but most gigs were way smaller with crowds of 100-300 people. Today I'm a stage actor and I enjoy the creative process of working out a theatre play even more than creating music, but no theatre performance could give me the same rush as being on stage performing music in front of a crowd of people who really enjoy my band's shit did back then. I often still miss my band, even though we broke up in 2005 under very, very unpleasant terms and I wouldn't want to work with those dudes ever again.
I haven't gigged for a looong time (not as long as johnny of course), but yeah, this really made me take up my axe, go to whatever dive bar nearest to me and just play the shit out of it. God damn I need a band rn
Any other game developer: "Meh. Just make his hands move and do guitar-y things." CDPR: "I've worked 92 hours this week. I sleep under my desk. I know the game isn't finished and will be a mess on launch. Nothing I can do about it. But by damn I will match these guitar chords and movement to the music as best as I can because it's going to look *_awesome_* ."
You can see the love and effort put into this game by the devs just from this scene alone. The game had many moments it shined that were overshadowed by the problems. Pity the execs rushed it out.
Yeah. CDPR said they’ll eventually fulfill their promises. If they do, the game will be one of the best ever made. However, I don’t expect that to happen for at least 3 years…
@@centralscs Personally I don't think so. Even if it gets the fixes it needs, the story was too rushed and I can't see that getting fixed. The only part of the game that was truly fleshed out with choice and consequences was the Maelstrom gang stuff in the 1st Act.
@@eddyspeddy And endings were fleshed out aswell all of 7 endings are memorable and well thought out none of them seem out of place for V. Also the secret behind them is cherry on top how to reward you as player and gives you RPG feel...Soundtrack is kickass especially on Morro Rock radio with Mike Pondsmith podcasts fleshing out the story. The city has a distinct feel even though its just a window dressing this city is memorable just like Empire Bay was in Mafia 2. Worst part was they rushed it due to the death threats and shit they were getting from quote on quote fans, then everybody blamed CDPR for the game being buggy and rushing it out.
Really wish they would have made this a quest line, doing different concerts. Could have called the questline "A warrior's farewell" and it could have been all about giving Samurai 1 last run before putting it to rest properly.
I just wish it was closer to the "ending" V helps Samurai give the performance of a lifetime, then Kerry has you trolling the US Cracks and torching a boat. Abd yes I would have liked to invite my romance. It would be cool to look at the audience and see Panam, Judy or River
It doesn't have to be the original guitarrist.. Anyone in cdpr who can play guitar could've use a motion capture suit and play the song, it's not a very difficult song to play
Do you mean that in a good way or in a disappointed way? Like, are you amazed they were able to capture the feeling of the tone of the world that has long passed by? Or are you disappointed they weren't able to have more of that classic feeling throughout the whole game?
I could be wrong but I swear you are the only one to do a guitar cover in this sort of way. I love it. I wish you would do it for all the guitar animations seen in CP77 to see if the animation is accurate to the hand/finger movements and picks to the actual somg
The first time I played this mission in-game, when they had V playing the guitar VERY specifically like this, I had thought they went note-for-note but I didn't bother to try playing. In most other video games and pop culture, you don't see specific finger techniques and placements. So the fact that CDPR took the time to get THIS right in a video game, actually blew me away. You did a fucking fantastic job of this. Well done.
On Tour with Samurai! I would love to perform all Samurai Songs in Game with the Band :) A like supreme, chippin' in, never fade away, Archangel, the ballad of Buck Ravers... yum yum :)
I really love how Denny (drummer) stands up in playing the last parts of the song, and how Kerry (vocals) is moving around the stage, just feeling the song/performance. It really captures that on-stage feeling of playing in a band and just having a rockin' good time along with the crowd. I miss the feeling of excitement/anxiety/anticipation right before the show, and right before starting the song, and then having it all wash away after a few moments after starting when you've found your groove on stage and just really getting into it :')
this whole game wrecked me... Sure I'm not the most stable person I know, but my older brother and three of my uncles were into progressive rock and metal ... and this scene did me in... it was too close to the bone... Absolutely epic emotional gameplay. Cyberpunk 2077 will always hold a special, ruinous, place in my heart.
best scene in the game, and one of the big reasons I can actually agree with the choice of "everything in first person". so glad I played this on PC, bought it day 1, over 1k hours in game, and only a couple consistent bugs, limited mostly to t posing in vehicles and some calls never hanging up. i mean my GF got it for ps4 and it was bricked outta the box, so the great fuck up did happen; but on PC it was pretty much good from the start.
Someone cared when making this game, I don't know who, but someone obviously did. That's what drives this game. No matter how broken it was/is, it still has a soul. Too easy to forgot, or ignore, how important that is.
Love this part of the game so much. I have a save in the Bathroom with Johnny just before V pops the pill to let him take the wheel for this gig. Also I believe they just MoCap'd the hands of the Guitarist for this.
I couldn't stop smiling or headbanging when I did this mission. For some reason the thought never crossed my mind that us, the players, were gonna be this involved with the show. When I realized I was actually up as those opening notes played and turned into the hard ass riff I was going nuts
Played through Cyberpunk this year, still need to get DLC but you've made me appreciate this scene so much more than I already did, love you relating to Kerry's words on how it felt going into this for you I'm assuming
I don't know what you did to the audio of the singer, but it somehow brought out his Slavic accent that I never picked up on in the game despite doing it around 3 or 4 time now. I'm not complaining, its just the first time I've heard the singer so clearly in the song I guess.
On my first playthrough, when i saw this scene I really thought that he plays legitimately the song. After learning the song myself I can confirm it. That's insanely impressive if you ask me. The game overall is, despite its quality, the single best game I played for a decade. One of the best in my life. For someone who played over 250 to end and around 400 overall, it's insane how it let me forget anything in my life when starting it. To be fair, the game when it was launched where not that worse than now, which makes me wonder why it's image did such a u turn, but honestly it doesn't care. Cdpr diserves respect for doing such a project in a time where the industry is broken and worthless
Dude, whoever wrote the Samurai songs for the game is a genius. And the people of CDPR who actually took time to animate their characters in first-person is aswell
I said no to the follow up quest, trying to strengthen the bond with V... and I missed everything after this. FUCK. Guess I'd somehow be able to follow this path later.
It’s like a weird corny feel but then breaks into a super nasty metal punk vibe. This should be dropped into drop C running and played with and extra guitar. Deserves a fuller wall of guitar. Heavy
Pay to be born, Pay to die. Hit so hard for some reason. Maybe because just a year ago my uncle got no money to do a proper funeral for my aunt, ye, sad.

that would be the best dlc ever!
People are modding in new quests now. I legit would not be surprised if it makes it in as a modded mission. Especially with AI generated dialogue
nah what makes it special is it being the final one, could be more than 1 song tho

Damn they really put effort in making it realistic
Yeah they motion captured real musicians and sinc everyone. As a drummer i really appreciated how accurate was
Denny killing the drums in the background always gets me.
Let's be honest, Denny isn't just hot, she's fire.
It's weird how accurate the whole scene was compared to the real thing. Probably the most accurate portrayal of instruments we could ever get.
When peoples say that cyberpunk devs didn't work on the détails, show them this vidéo and thei're shut their mouth up instantly.
The fact they used the actual positioning makes this part a million times better
Finally someone played it with games solo. Good fucking job.
I love that they even tried to make a first person gig with Samurai. Makes the journey with Johnny feel a bit more tangible
I honestly wasn't so excited about doing this mission, but holy shit when the performance started I was like " wow, this is actually pretty awesome"
If I had to guess, they taped the guitarist from Refused playing his part in the song and gave it to the animators for reference for this sequence?

Во-первых, это ОЧЕНЬ круто. Не думал, что разрабы настолько запарились, но это прям достойно.
Во-вторых, чувак, ты крут. Моё почтение, коммент и лайк.
The flashbacks from Cyberpunk were by far the most Cyberpunk this game got, both in terms of the original tabletop and the genre as a whole

Is there a petition to sign where we get a dlc where Samurai get back together play all their songs? i wanna see Denny smashing Archangel badly. 😭
I'd sign that. Getting a DLC to rock out with Samurai for like 5 shows. Would be badass!
Which makes sense considering Keanu knows how to play Bass and used to have a band
