1. Select the entire cell by setting the cursor in cell, then press Shift + End.
2. Drag the left or right column handle of the cell to adjust the cell's width.

Incorrect title. This video shows how to adjust the width of one column without affecting the width of the next column.
Your title says about the CELL. This would be a way to change the width of a column of ONE CELL, which is one column and ONE ROW.
The answer for this is found below, by MrDJRainer, where you select the CELL only, with SHIFT+END and then adjust the width of the cell by dragging within the table.

you are right on point with the title. but for me even if i do select cell and to shift end and move, it moves the whole column line. is it different on mac maybe? please help

Sometimes when I move one line between two columns to adjust a column, the line doesn't 'listen to me', doesn't go to the direction I drag it to, but other columns' width changes. Could you tell me why? Thanks!
