Boeing is facing major losses with or without a Union settlement.....it's just that a 35-40% increase in Union compensation accelerates the losses. Combine that with Boeing's loss of customers due to ongoing production interruptions and you have a cocktail for potential bankruptcy. Like it or not, Boeing must mitigate Union damage somehow if they want to survive.
Don’t forget to combine that with wasting $68billion on stock buy backs. Paying the last two ceos $50million + to leave, covering up design flaws which lead to two crashes that resulted in the 737 grounding and losing $32 billion over 4 years. That’s all definitely the unions fault
The union workers are in danger of becoming jobless in a terrible economy. Boeing can sell off, restructure, move production and save part of the commercial division while protecting the lucrative government division.
