I see a lot of people asking, so for clarification he mentions at 8:30 that this category is not "E8 Huntress WR" but "GAUNTLET E8 Huntress" that he got a WR in (more specifically the category is gauntlet proc characters speedrun, he mentioned that earlier too.) The gauntlet ruleset has very slight tweaks to the main speedrun ruleset, i.e no lunars, blue portals count to your time (maybe they do in normal wrs too though, i dont actually know.) So with that said, to verify a gauntlet run they check your run and the mods you were using, so no, the modded stage is not DQing, that is a chosen map included in the risk of resources gauntlet category mods (I believe) so the racers SHOULD be racing with it actually. Of course rng means they dont always get that map, as it is for all maps, but it's not illegal in this category to get fogbound lagoon. Nice job on the WR!
Imagine if they had challenges associated with it too. Like they could test Mercenary players' abilities to use their i-frames effectively by giving them something if they can beat it without getting hit

I am honestly annoyed how the speedruns for this game on easy seemed to have more traction then on the hardest difficulty because on the easiest difficulty its more of a checklist then a challenge.
Speedruns like this are so rng focused I'm surprised people even bother doing them, like some dude gets 3 bands stage 1 and a vase and they're basically done.
Have you not seen speedruns for any other game? The default for speedruns are usually only the hardest difficulty if the hardest difficulty doesn't increase rng significantly. No one likes it when their run dies because they got bad items for 4 stages in a row.

I was reading the comments before the video so seeing this made me kinda sad (ever since his first race he quickly became one of my fave racers) thinking cabbage was actually just an egomaniac (which I guess he kinda is lol), but after reaching that part in the video I feel better. It's not pure intentioned, but I can't deny the spite of trying to prove people wrong, it sounds more like a healthy competitve spirit than a pure egoboost per se. He was actually extremely humble his first race (despite nearly sweeping) so it was kind of a shock reading that. Not that people cant be radically different off camera, and not to say he hasnt gotten a little more comfortable being cocky with the rest of the racers, but yeah. TL;DR your comment threw me for a loop lol.

I actually dropped RoR2 for about a year and a half cuz no new updates (would really like to see balance changes or new alternate abilities for characters with ones that feel bad, like acrid and engi's left click abilities). It's actually from watching content creators like Woolie and Disputed that made me want to come back, and I'm starting my Eclipse grind finally. Really hope I can do Eclipse 8 on at least 1 character.
You should check out race on twitch or yt, one of the best e8 players and super knowledgeable. His vids and streams are some of the best resources for getting better at the game past monsoon

He streams everything as well so I don't think he could be cheating in any way. And this is just personal experience, but after I started absolutely full looting every run, I've gotten a recycler in a very significant portion of them. And Race is very much a full looter. Also saying he's easy-moding is hilarious considering he plays with Umbral Mithrix without bonfire every single run. And I haven't played it myself but I would definitely say that mod is the opposite of easy mode, especially on Eclipse 8.
Woolie at 18:39 you talk about youtube quality being worse than stream. UA-cam gives bitrate depending on the resolution of the video, so if you simply upload a 4K upscale the quality will improve even though pretty much nothing changed about it. Iirc even 1080p gets better bitrate if a 4K resolution is present.
Im not 100% sure abd havent finished the video, so he might say something thay completely contradicts this, but I think it might just be that the WR part here is a little misleading, because it's not a ror2 wr, but the gauntlet ror2 huntress wr. That has it's own category now on speedrun net and actually requires verification of the same mods and setup as the gauntlet package to be added to the leaderboard, but it's not meant to be compared against vanilla ror2 records.
The gauntlet category has its own set of rules, and this map/mod is developed by someone on that team (I believe?), so they have included it in the mods needed/accepted to verify your runs in this category

I know it was mentioned at the start of the video that there's the mod that adds 5 minutes to the run, but that doesn't affect gameplay aside from infinite lives with a penalty for the gauntlet category. But the map counts as valid as well?

there are 2 mods u might wanna try risky artifacts which give artifact of arrogance(mountain shrines are permenant) and zet aspects which makes it so elites aspects can be stacked and are reguler items not equipment

Hi Woolie, are Lunar items not viable in these runs for whatever reason? I'm curious why something like Purity wouldn't be viable - with Huntress' normal dash, you'd have a free pillar skip, and enough damage from ballista spam and any non-proc items to easily and safely clear most stuff. It'd be even better on Loader, but I know you're a huntress baller. Thanks!

Lunars are very viable for speed runs, but in these runs lunars are banned unless you purify them the same stage you pick it up.
