I completely agree. I remember my heart shattering when I was rejected from Cambridge for my undergraduate and not having any clue what I was going to do next. However, I ended up having an amazing undergraduate experience in another university, learning so much about myself and my topic along the way. Seven years after that rejection, I am finishing my PhD (or DPhil) at Oxford, more in love with History than ever, and I strongly believe that the professors I encountered during my undergrad are the main reason behind that. I wouldn't be here if it hadn't been for that rejection years ago. Rejection is not the end, it is the start of something different.
10/10 would recommend doing a masters at Oxford if you don't get in at Undergrad! I was totally unsuited to Oxbridge at undergrad and didn't even apply. So I went to a non-russell group university for undergrad, came out with a first, and then got into Jesus College, Oxford for my Masters and I'm now having literally the best time ever.
@@clevercat9774 I think with a Masters, while you're not competing with thousands of other applicants, you are still going to have to work really hard. Sure the chances, looking at numbers might be better, but it's not that simple. For my course, I had about a 1 in 4 chance of getting in or 25%; but, because you apply to a department rather than a college it's different. So it's very department-based, whether or not it is actually easier.
Got rejected from Oxford yesterday. I was fully expecting it and I only applied just to see what happened, didn’t even think I would get an interview so I’m so happy I got that far! Oh Vee I really needed to hear this. I got the email from Cambridge an hour ago. Apparently Newnham put me in for the winter pool but no other colleges wanted me. I wrote this after I read the email, I thought it might help others: Today I was rejected from the University of Cambridge. The first person I told was my friend Ellie and she told me what I told her about her application result from Oxford the day before: it’s okay to be upset about something you’ve invested so much of yourself into. I can’t pretend that I’m not heartbroken. I can’t even pretend that my heart is at any other place. Oxbridge applications are so emotionally draining that it becomes difficult to put your priorities anywhere else. I’m upset, but I’m also looking forward to finding another place that makes me as excited to involve myself in English. All my love to anybody else that had the same news today and yesterday- let’s go and prove them wrong. Rejection is redirection

I am so focused on what other people think of me that I'm creating this environment full of pressure, self hate etc. I wish I could be more confident in what I am doing and being proud of what I achieved no matter how long it took me to get there. I used to feel that way before ^^ what helped me was guided meditation and the law of attraction. I listen to the Gem goddess and Aaron Doughie. It is very human to compare ourselves with others. It is hard to change this mindset of yours, don't be negative about it, all of us feel the same way sometimes. What you can do is ask them how they are managing to achieve that( again not easy, pride and all). Maybe they are feeling pressure and insecure about it as well. Make a written plan of action , focus on your studies, every day a little. Be with your family and positive friends and try not to be annoyed or down with other people sucess. Take action , plan, execute your ideas; if you get it wrong ,change your approach and do it again. Good luck

I got rejected from Oxford yesterday and was so bummed out about it for a few hours but I've decided that I won't let the outcome alter my perception of the application process. I thoroughly enjoyed every single part of it and really had fun in the interviews. I genuinely believe that I have grown from this process and perhaps Oxford wasn't the place for me after all. I'll probably be going to Durham (provided I meet my grade requirements) and I'm really looking forward to it. Thank you for making this video Vee

Hi Vee, Thankyou so much for this video! I didn’t make it into undergrad physics at Oxford, but now I get to go to another uni which I love so much as well! When I logged into track it hurt, and whilst it still does now, videos like this one have helped me so much put it into perspective. I have met some amazing people at Summer School and during the application process, and have learned so much about my subject as well as myself along the way (a little cheesy 🧀 but true). I am so excited to be studying physics this year (its so weird to say I’m going to uni THIS YEAR, where has the time gone?). Applying to UNIQ and Oxford I still think was one of my best decisions I’ve ever made, I have gained so much from the experience (and many happy memories!), and thanks to the studytube community as it was study vloggers like you who had inspired me to do so. I can’t wait to see what the future holds, and I must admit, I have spotted that Oxford has amazing postgraduate study opportunities, so maybe I might get to go one day and have two equally amazing and unique university adventures. The only part for me that’s very difficult is how draining the application process is, from perfecting that PS to doing extra essays, SAQs including another mini PS, the online interview process which had never been done before. But life will take its course

Vee, I was rejected for a MA in Classical Studies at the University of Ottawa in Canada because the grad committee of Classics thought that I was uncapable of doing research at a graduate level due to my letter of intent and I felt devastated that I was not admitted in. A few years later I tried the MA in Classical Studies through Distance Learning at the OU in Milton Keynes and I was accepted in because I did not really need to many qualifications. It worked out for me because I got a lot of support from my tutors and the Student Support Team when I was undergoing difficulties with my TMAs. Are you applying for a Master's degree at this university which you attend or somewhere else?
I applied to Oxford for a DPhil program. The decision has already been made at this point but is yet to be communicated. I have the feeling that it is going to be a rejection judging based on how competitive the program is. Vee, this video just made me a little better on expecting rejection from Oxford. Thank you.
Being rejected is actually super normal like it will happen not just once but many. As I've experienced plentiful rejections, I know exactly that it's important to learn to just get used to them. And finally after so many years I find that those old rejections I was crying for turned out to be NOTHIING compared with the things I'm experiencing right now. SO JUST RELAX, AND ENJOY THE PRESENT!
Jealousy won’t get you anywhere. We are prone to be jealous, but always try to see your efforts in comparison to yourself! Be proud of your achievements, whether big or small.

College is only a short period of your life 🤷🏾♀️ if you get rejected go to a “mid-tier” university and be active on campus. You'll have the time of your life 😇

I felt disheartened when I got rejected, now I still drag on about Cambridge, but doing a year at Tsinghua in Beijing and subsequently going to Imperial this October has made me happier. There is always a chance for an MPhil/DPhil at Oxbridge Post MSci or MEng at Imperial. Thank you for being such an inspiration though
You don't need to be smart. Just be disciplined with your studies, maybe be teachable. Smart is when your start producing knowledge. All the studytubers are disciplined and are willing to put the work in ( for example studying on Christmas Day)!
