Thanks for the comment James! I'd suggest to have those flies also weighted, in your arsenal when going there. Then of course Pheasant Tail and those classics that always work.
I love basic, simple flies that work. Is a 4X long hook typical for caddis nymph pattern in Iceland? American & UK pattern range from short shank hooks to 2 or 3x long.

Thanks for the comment Bob, Ummm I'd say 4X long is rather long. We are usually working with the same numbers as in UK and USA, short or medium shanks to 2 - 3X long.
Great yet simple and effective fly for the peeping caddis /nymph
thanks Ivar.
Thanks for stopping by Mike!
Simplicity, effectiveness, quick tying all those apply to the Peacock. Enjoy.
A nice simple fly I will add that to my caddis collection.
Thanks for the comment James!
It's the most used caddis pupa in Iceland and has been for over 40 years. Really successful pattern.
Thanks for that pattern. I will Tell you how it worked in arctic swedisch mountains on end of july

a clear mono rib it would last longer
I believe that's true. I've never tried to tie this fly with the mono rib.
