It is interesting how the teleporter has changed from an escape tool to a mobility tool with the adjustment. Sombra feels a bit less like a bs character and more like a stronger Tracer.
He used it as an escape tool most of the time in this video though lmao

My only issue is the burst damage is so fast it doesn't matter if I'm playing with my team or not, I get killed from behind. I understand the idea is to punish poor positioning, but if every position is a poor position then it's pointless
Its not that fast unless the sombra is absolutely cracked and hitting 100% headshots. Otherwise, you (or/and) your team are just not reacting as fast as you think.
i didnt say tracking was hard, i said it doesnt burst fast unless you're hitting all headshots (exaggeration but u get the point). @@SpiritedFalcon & on top of that, most characters when played optimally can burst the fuck out of you. soldier 76 helix + 2 headshots & a bodyshot is an extremely quick 215 damage. echo, tracer, sojourn, etc.
If the damage was any less I don’t think she’d get many solo kills though.
I've been playing her alot lately and the squishies really do get burned down fast. Its VERY hard to kill a sombra if you're alone as a squishy. That aspect will likely get nerfed and when it does, her entire point will be moot because thats her only perk right now. She can burst down a squishy very fast and get a pick. Once thats out, her new playstyle makes no sense

@@riotman3579 Virus, it is that small cubic shot he does whenever he goes out of invis - it is dot for 100 hp for 4 seconds, if they are hacked it deal it in 2 seconds, she lost her passive so she dont see people under 50%

@@TheDonny01 easier to punish compared to what? compared to before? sure. but the fact that she can throw her trans out of reach of anyone so she goes invis and sprints away, it still gives a lot of comfortable room for her to get out of situations any other character would die in. other heroes have get out of jail cards like reaper with fade and moira with her fade, but u see where they go or doesnt give them perma invis.

hell there have been plenty times when I'm not even playing a mobile hero, like Hanzo or Cass, and have shot her after she TPs up and away or something like that
Just reached Diamond 3 as support using Moria, Ana and Illari. I feel personally that just using Illari against Sombra is one way to make her either pick your healing pylon or you. She's a full charge headshot and a semi second charge body shot away from death at all times and usually throws her translocator up in the air which allows the perfect opportunity to look up and see where she still is.
Now she can actually flank and pick off healers, yet still be threatend by dps because of her stealth rework. The fact that i can actually see her as a threat and react to it fully because she has no gimmicky "teleport to safe spot" power is very nice. And now support actually need to work to play. Feels really good.
She genuinely makes Zenyatta and Ana unplayable lmao, she has the least fun counterplay of “shoot at random places and get lucky.”
She’s still an insanely stupid character because of perma-invis.

You absolutely could use it the exact same way as it works now, it just provides instant invisibility and is a bit faster.

I’m a support main but I LOVE playing the new sombra! I also haven’t had much issues against her when I’m on support (could be my low elo) but honestly I think the rework was really really good
same, as a supp it's pain in the ass to playing against it but when i play casual and play sombra it is way too much fun ruining/bullying people's game lmao

What does that even mean. If you “lock in” she just instakills you before you can even throw nade. The only counterplay is to keep your head on a swivel and hope you can sleep her before she kills you in 0.8s.

She reaches you, you get hacked and virus, so you take cover quickly, enough time to throw made and fight back, after that she is rendered useless and must escape. Specially if someone peeled to you

I played a little with Sombra and my experience looks like this: If the enemy team is not really a team, she's dominating as she pretty much wins every 1v1, but if they are at least playing a little together your whole game looks like this: 7:05
But you can also use her to peel a lot. I've been using her to help other teammates when there is no chance to dive someone, or even Peel just for the sake of actually playing with the team after a successful or failed dive. You are not rendered completely useless, just change the playstyle
You say that like it's a bad thing but even if Flats didn't get a Mercy pick, he still "won" that exchange. He forced the Ana to pocket the Mercy for like 10 seconds so the enemy had no supports for all that. His team could've taken advantage of that but obviously they didn't

@@KisameSempai diving is going into basically the backline of the enemy team, looking to get picks on the squishier heroes. Divers are Winston, wrecking ball, DVa, tracer, sombra, genji. The sups that work with dive are Ana, Moira, kiriko, Lucio can work as well.
Peeling is going back to your team to help them. They are being attack by someone, so you peel back and help the team with that

Overall rework is a success!
Not only did they create the exact playstyle (making her commit more) they wanted but also made her less annoying to play against and dare I say more fun to play as (virus is amazing and the new transolocator lets you zip around the map).
It also increased the skill gap for sombra so no more teammates who are worth 1/3 of a teammate because they keep dipping before getting any vaule as her and no more annoying enemies who just sit there and only hack away.
I agree. And even if she is OP now, I still think most supports should get nerfed (their sustain) and then you can tune back sombra lol

Less annoying yo play against? Do you have fun on the respawn screen or something? 😂 A lot of characters are straight spawn camped by sombra and your only option is to switch, that's not fun when you just want to play your favourite hero for a bit.
I think the biggest irony of the rework is it's made me a better Junkrat. I used to be more artillery, but this is the first time someone has so easily had the opportunity to pick me off in the back (since they immediately lock out my escape mines), so now I'm going in, landing more direct shots/two-taps and getting more healing alongside the tank.
While it is easier to punish her when she fails an ambush, i think she is too strong.
I play a lot of support and i feel really anxious when they have a sombra, she can deal so well with 200hp targets now. You gotta have insane inhuman reactions or luck to not die.
I guess they will have to do some tweaks on her kit but yea. Really strong character at the moment.
You're meant to feel anxious as a support when you get dived, but that doesn't happen anymore. Problem is that healing output and abilities, such as suzu, have been powercrept over the years. To tune down Sombra, you have to tune down supports first.
Balance prediction: in the mid season patch they’re gonna take away sombra’s lethality because all the balance team people play support, and then sombra is going to go back to being about hacking the tank and it’s gonna suck
Been facing Sombra and Mei 90% of the time since this patch. It feels absolutely miserable for any role that isn’t DPS
trust me hanzo, ashe, and widow are just as miserable. and it feels good.
Ashe is the least miserable of them to face, but I’m soooo sick of Orisa/Mei/Sombra and the season just started

@@spicysnowman8886 As a Hanzo main, I find her fun to play against actually. She can't do the annoying poke and run anymore and she doesn't really feel any more dangerous. Just don't be standing a mile away from your team as easy pickings or if you are, be aware you are. Widow is harder but she's also designed to be weaker(and stronger as a sniper in return) to Sombra and I, for one, am not complaining about that. It's all trade-offs with the character you pick, some are strong against you, some are weak, you either play around that or you don't.
@121111er I play a good bit of hanzo, and if a sombra jumps you and you miss your first shot, you're just dead.
Flats the reason they have he full pause on the invisible timer on point is so you don't c9 all the time. In OT if you hop off point for the millisecond and try to touch but go invisible you're screwed.

Even as a support player, I'm pretty okay with her changes and I would like more characters as flankers or support killers, Doom is a good candidate, Reaper, Echo and leave supports as is
It encourages good positioning and counter play, and some team work to help your supports and if we get more burst damage like Sombra it can change the game for the better in a good way IF IT'S DONE RIGHT ofc it can be done horribly but I feel like it'll be hard to mess it up
Doom doesn't need to be stronger than he is. If Doom is really strong the game is in a bad state.

As a tank main, Sombra was a pain to deal with and now is even more pain to deal with with her laser firing. Maybe that’s because my aim shucks lol. But Im happy with the change since I can get her every now and then.
i definitely think they were always trying to make sombra a support killer but because supports kept getting buffs left and right power creep kept rising around her and the devs weren't doing enough to effectively keep people playing her, now that she's forced to commit, those commitments end up being more focused towards the more important targets rather than the damage sponge, good change but I am absolutely certain that the support mains that don't use their pings for things they need help with are gonna be the reason she gets nerfed, the amount of times I've seen a mercy or ana get slaughtered by the enemy sombra because they weren't letting anyone know she was there is depressing

This is probably the best thing the dev team has done. At regular ranks sombra is very manageable now and not oppressive. It feels so go good seeing somvra players actually being able to die 😅

Sombra is S+ or F- tier. As soon as the enemy supps have 3 brain cells, you basically can't do anything.
Think about it. The only way you could deal damage was with your machine gun. And even with the hack, it didn’t feel like much unless you had good accuracy and it was critical. I feel like her play style of “just waiting for the perfect moment” changing to “back line and frontline aggressiveness” might be what Sombra needs.
She's a hacker of course she does need this.
Also Ive seen other pros be able to play her passively but not as good.
She works better agressively.
She needs less health. Her playstyle is similar to tracer but has 50 more health

Tracer have way smaller hitbox, way more mobility usage or as i should say she has way more control over her mobility since she has 3 changes of blink usable in all direction while they do charge in only 3s. While sombra does have only one single teleport/dash in 1 direction way more predictable since she need to throw her translocator. The cooldown is a bit higher than the blink charges. And it still the fact that sombra CAN'T heal herself, she need to run to a medkit or to a support (like genji) while tracer just uses her flashback. Don't even try to compare the two Hp bars bc they are two differents dps

I was skeptical on stealth being a passive but it ended up being more fluid than I thought
I feel like the rework has exposed the support overtuning problem with Sombra's new playstyle. Like the biggest problem an evenly-matched DPS has dueling a support is their insane survivability without having to rely on good positioning (tp, fade, immo, etc), but opening with hack and leading into burst damage means you can either immediately force ALL their cooldowns (which are the root cause of the supports feeling too strong at any level above gold) or get the kill if you combo it fast enough.
All in all, I can already smell all of the support players complaining about her after she's thoroughly worked into the meta, but it feels great to finally have a burst DPS that can ACTUALLY reliably burst down a poorly-positioned support or force their utilities out.
support def needed something to knock em down a peg, but unfortunately in my experience it now feels like the tank experience just shifted 😭i like playing ana but because im in lower tier games i never really get helped/watched by my team and am left to fend for myself in the backline, so i just get hyper targeted by sombra who spawns, dives me, and either dies or kills me in .2 seconds then runs away and repeats, and then my team shit talks me for dying LOL. i cant do anything, and it sucks
It doesn’t really “knock support down a peg,” it knocks Ana and Zen down like 4 pegs and just forces even more Kiriko and Brigitte, who she does nothing to. Permenant invisibility has been, and always will be, an incredibly stupid concept in Overwatch.
“That guy is not having a good time” is every single second against Sombra.

I was playing a match last night, and I did go for the enemy bap a few times, but got little to no value off of distracting him, and then I accidentally hack the Lucio once, I die, he lives, and he’s tying arguments in chat, “that sombra buff need to be redacted!! It’s so op now, all you have to do is hack me and I loose my healing and my wall riding! It’s stupid!!!” 😂

My take on the Sombra Rework: The devs did accomplish what they wanted her to do, she feels strong, oppressive, and deadly in her new playstyle.
However, as a Widow main since 2019, Sombra absolutely anihilates the characters she counters EVEN HARDER. I am expecting a Hotfix to tone her down in the future.
That’s only for squishies though, from a tank perspective she’s a lot easier to deal with. I play wrecking ball/doom in masters and it’s so much easier to kill her when she can’t teleport away to narnia.

@@donovan4222 I do 100% agree that she's more punishable, but the characters that are meant to punish her (which is dive) is the exact comp she HARD SHUTS DOWN. All she has to do is hold up hack and wait for you to Slam into the team as Doomfist, and you're toast (no offense)
there's absolutely no way she gets nerfed in any significant way; she's a DPS. as far as they're concerned, the DPS are allowed to play and everyone else has to babysit them, which is really easy to do when they specifically rework DPS heroes to make support players want to quit.

I thought the best thing to add to the character with perma invis was an ability to kill in under 1 second. Really invites tons of 1v1 capabilities and fun counterplay, like shooting into random alleyways hoping she happens to be there.
Ngl I dont feel like there's much counter play to being hacked, virused and a few shots to death. It's even more frustrating now than it ever was. As a concept I really like it but by the time the hack disabling wears off you're pretty much already dead.

She actually feels fun to play for once. I like the aggressive play style compared to the defensive hide hack shoot and run away old style
Not a bug with the platform not being destroyed when hacked. Been that way for awhile. They changed that so it deals damage to the platform when hacked/not worth it at anymore to go for hacking the platform.
Down in lower ranks, I've been loving having a new chew toy as brig! I do love the identity as a tracer variation

The scary thing for me is that I'm actually enjoying playing her. I used to hate her before the rework. Strange times we live in.

The best odds to survive is to get together, don’t die. Either she will waste the cooldowns and run, or you get the kill
Basically. When I've been playing my friend & I just repeat "stay together stay alive" at each other as a mantra vs sombra.
The answer should never be "just 2v1" against a single dps.
Playing against sombra now is:
You hear hack, you turn to shoot her, you're dead.
I love how people can be mad for a flank actually having the power of flanking.
Most people are doing the kill combo backwards, the easiest way to kill high mobility characters is virus first when they're not aware then hack because it's a lock-on
Try Brigitte as counter. For me that worked really well. Just spam flail and stay around the other support
Especially with her whip shot buff enabling the smack+smack+whipshot+bash to kill any 200 hp target
Sombra in Spanish for LA is a lot sassier and confident with her comments despite them being the same in the game. Idk, she has a lot more intention inher lines than English Sombra, you guys should check them out if you can. Even her ultimate lines feel more threatening than in English

Hey Flats, have some tips for ya'!
Try swapping your hack and virus binds around. I find virus a lot easier to aim with right click. Second, you don't need to hack first most of the time. I've found just virus+shooting is more than enough dps and it has the added benefit of giving them no time to react, and landing that virus is easier when they don't' know you're there.

As a low rank (gold) support, I literally haven't had a playable game since she launched. The reason I'm gold is that my reaction time is slow. So I just play respawn simulator the entire match. Then get flamed for dying.
I just can't react fast enough to not die to the hack/virus combo.
I'm aware it's a skill issue, but even in gold it's every game and it's locked me out of playing at all.

I mostly play support so Sombra is usually just annoying unless someone is actually good at her. On tank or damage though I honestly I almost never see her during a match, most likely because she's only attacking the supports. I'm only in gold so maybe people suck at video games like I do but the only difference is I kill a lot more Sombras that are going invisible or just recently went invisible. And I fire a lot of shots behind me into thin air just in case she's creepin'. Seems like the best thing she does in low ranks is distract supports long enough that someone dies on the front line.

support buffs inc -bap now has 2 charges of lamp & their burst now has a damage reduction & mercy can self rez; support passive now grants overhealth

The one thing I absolutely hate is that if you throw the translocator, but a roadhog hooks you before tp, it wont work.
CC interrupts the tp on translocator, anything like sleep or rock or hook in this case can just negate it if timed properly.
I love playing as, and playing against sombra now!
Love that flats is invisible for maybe 5% of this video. Shows that new Sombra can spend lots of uptime in combat. I also think she won't be overpowered as other players start to learn her patterns and how to respond to her putting herself in combat way more, you can track her down more easily and try to seek her out even when invisible.

Ok, _maybe_ the virus cooldown needs a slight nerf. Everything else is great, but you pump out basically an instakill, and if they survive that you pump out another 6 seconds later, over and over until they escape (not likely) or finally go down.
Maybe like around 7-8 seconds would be more fair
Zarya, Rein, Brig, Mei, and Torb all counter her pretty hard. People don’t protect their backline from Sombra flanks that why she sees so much success.
It's clear they really wanted to force Dive back into the game. Except every dive tank just explodes......

Sombra became, all of the sudden, one of the most enjoyable characters to play. What a life.
I run both tank and support....so, I was happy to know I won't have to deal with Sombra as much on tank....now I have to worry about her as support.....yay.....
