The most attractive feature about this car to me is how rigid it is. Looking underneath the pretty body line, finely crafted interior, and superb power plant, you'll see that this car is built like something from NASA.
I saw this episode sometime in the early 90s and really, really wanted the car, and the host ;-) Thank's for uploading it, it must be one of the first videos on youtube.
Some of us still love the styling of yesteryear! I know I do. As for the push buttons and toggle switches, they were all OFF THE SHELF aerospace components currently in use in many fighter aircraft. The entire car was conceived, engineered, and constructed to Aerospace Standards. Nothing finer has ever been produced. Sorry you didn't like it ;-)
"We've taken it up to 130mph but we dont want to go faster as its our only car. But it should do 400 kmph." xD lol.... But I honestly, honestly LOVE something about the way this one looks in this more conventional colour and I would absolutely get one. I just wish it had a manual gearbox as a priority over 3 person bench seating....
Oh My Avtech,is my favorite american supercar. That pain that this mark does not remove cars. They represented the American power. Of the video I emphasize the phrase that begins with the Never
I never realised these cars were built to be so rugged and last so long, and yet the owners probably never drive theirs! This car would make one hell of a daily driver!
TO ALL VECTOR OWNERS:congratulations for having such a great, unique supercar! Can I ask you to please me a little? Can you post a short video featuring the aircraft video display working? What about how do those windows open? And, it is true that Vectors have a luggage space somewhere? Yes, I'm a hopeless Vector fan... Thanks!
the "shareholders" decided they had a new direction for Vector Aeromotive, and forced the founder and designer Gerald Weigert out... The new direction the shareholders took Vector in tanked the company very quickly. All Vectors possessions were sold to an Indonesian company, MegaTech LTD, who also owned Lamborghini for awhile....
This car certainly has wow factor...but it's overstyling is ridiculous, HOWEVER...the Vector W2 original was and is still a beeeaaauuutiful looking machine and one of my all-time favourites!!...then came the W8...and design started getting too busy..and then this thing. It's a shame that Vector died out. The final version with the Lambo engine was a shadow of the original, and IMO a tragic end to what should have been something great.
By the way, Beyond 2000 featured an earlier version of the Vector: the W2. Diehard fans of the show could certainly remember whih one I am talking about. If someone finds it, please post it! Thank you!
...cont The lamborghini engines were used AFTER MegaTech LTD purchased and revamped the Vector with left over Pontiac Fiero parts and garbage fiberglass body panels - They owned the name and put it on an inferior POS chassis. I agree, now is a bad time for Gerald Weigert to try and resurrect his dream, but that's what dreams are for.
That's why this Vector was faster than anything the Italians could dish out at the time right? Cause it doesn't belong on the highway. That's also why it's more rare than most italian cars too... right?
Damn right! A baby-drooling car! But take a look at the last scene of this! It's wider than an american truck (i don't know it) at least by a half! And peple inside it sid in an empty room. Now, in Europe this space craft would need vertical liftoff, cuz it would stuck in any Old-town Vilnius street from XV century... While Hummers h3 can squeeze in, if they are crazy, this would die. Plus it's about 400years early for road cars with 400Kmh outside Bonneville.
They stretched the body, made it from fiberglass and not Kevlar, dropped in a Lambo engine, filled the interior with inferior Pontiac Fiero controls they bought from GM in bulk... and made a horrible car... Finally, Gerald Weigert was able to purchase all that remained of the company he founded twenty years before and is now in process of attempting a resurgence...
The F40 is more like a go-kart, not that exciting on the straights, but the cornering... Damn. I don't think a Wiegert Vector W8 Twin-Turbo can do that.
why this car is shacking so hard... and these are (as i see) - very small speeds ? what will happened when it reaches 300 km/h ... or 400 :-O take a look here: 4:36
Wow, what a memories....I was 6 year old and I saw it in spanish..I'll always remember this ugly and, as a partner said, the worst supercar ever made....Nice vid jajaja!!
when jerry weigert first designed this mid 80,the always claimed rediculous speeds, and as far as i am aware not once have they ever met them, the early ones had a donovan racing all alloy chevy based twin turbo v8,a very impressive bit of kit,but handled like a dog on roller skates...come on northax, give me some banter!not the nicest looking of cars either
look what happened to Preston Tucker, too ahead of it's time Like many of the GM cars, Corvair turbos, the Cosworth Vega GT, the last of the Fieros, and the last gen Camaro just when they were getting them right , they took them out of production ,for some odd reason the American public is turned on by driving boxes;it seems that futuristic designs are not well received by the American consumer ,have you noticed what the big three had to do to sell their pony cars again? go back to early 70s
"You probably expect a car like this to have been crafted by ferrari, lamborghini or lotus"... Not really... Was thinking more along the lines of a blind man.
Not even close..... When MegaTech LTD had possession of both Vector and Lamborghini, they stuffed some Lambo engines in a stretched Vector chassis and used a bunch of left over Fiero parts for interior etc... What a POS AvTech = Aviation Technology. WX3 = Weigert eXperimental generation 3 :-)
I always wanted this car when I was younger. It's pretty and all, but it handled like a elephant on roller skates. Great presentation, Horrible engineering.
Not Exactly. The shareholders ousted Vector Founder Gerald Weigert because they wanted to cheapen the quality of HIS car to turn more profit. A half million dollars to 'some customer'? Stop making up facts - the cars didn't even cost that much to begin with... cont....
hahahaha... high quality..... thats the most awful car i have ever seen. terrible design standards even compared with cars of the same age..... 800,000 dollars for a cars with a steel frame ...!!!! hahahahahaha dream on buddy. might as well build your own kit car..... give me 800,000 and i will come up with something better than this no problem.
I miss Beyond 2000, I loved that show.
The most attractive feature about this car to me is how rigid it is. Looking underneath the pretty body line, finely crafted interior, and superb power plant, you'll see that this car is built like something from NASA.
wow that show is a blast from the past. must be around 1990

I could'nt stop looking at her 0o
THE VECTOR i remember reading about in 1997
VERY VERY VERY INTERESTING VIDEO !! It shows how this Beast is built
the theme song from this show STILL proves superior to most theme-songs written in the years since!
I used to love this show
Beyond 2000,
now is 2009 now, how fast...
The Music, the graphic is Classic....
2000 used to be in the future, now it's 2020, we are living in the future :-)
for me, this is the best supercar from the history...
The best TV intro ever!!
"We've taken it up to 130mph but we dont want to go faster as its our only car. But it should do 400 kmph." xD lol.... But I honestly, honestly LOVE something about the way this one looks in this more conventional colour and I would absolutely get one. yeah, me too. this was an awesome show back then.
Oh My Avtech,is my favorite american supercar. That pain that this mark does not remove cars. They represented the American power. Of the video I emphasize the phrase that begins with the Never
Beyond 2000 was a great show! People just never took advantage of the ideas that it proposed. Very sad... we could have been many years ahead by now.
I want one!
This car has really changed a lot. My father had an early one of these but his was the four door off-road version.
I still search a Vector to buy and have no idea where to find one.
One of the best American cars ever made. Designed by zee Germanz and built by Mehicans. Which is what the US is all about, really.
Someone bring this show back call it beyond 21
I never realised these cars were built to be so rugged and last so long, and yet the owners probably never drive theirs! This car would make one hell of a daily driver!
i love this car.

I miss Beyond 2000. Anyone know where I can see full episodes?
I like how you say "pfft!" That new car from Canada is BADASS.......oh wait.......
Now thats a car I want

Hottest car ever built.
mean looking...luv it!!
i just had a brainwave about beyond 2000, remembering the cool TV series as presented at Discovery Channel here in Europe.
Whatever happened to Gerald Wiegert & Vector Aeromotive? I heard he had Indonesian investors but don't how much of that is true.
im surprised Hasselhoff didnt drive this n knight rider....

i used to love this show. till it went off the air.
Where could I buy a Vector? Any sellers around? I am interested.
is it still on sale?
That's why this Vector was faster than anything the Italians could dish out at the time right? Cause it doesn't belong on the highway. That's also why it's more rare than most italian cars too... right?
@MacraStraba the future is a dystopia
One thing the Aussies did right, this show....
What exactly would you upgrade?
With what?
:-)
Damn right! A baby-drooling car!

@ 1:30 Semi truck owns the Vector...lol!
itz a bomb.. wada bomb
Crashes at 400 km/h are routine nowadays. Finding the occupants is somewhat trickier.
Nice!
That niiice. :)

@matt99is that's because he is.
The F40 is more like a go-kart, not that exciting on the straights, but the cornering... Damn.
I don't think a Wiegert Vector W8 Twin-Turbo can do that.
So, since what your seeing is probably the only one in existence, who owns it? Jay Leno?
why this car is shacking so hard... and these are (as i see) - very small speeds ?
what will happened when it reaches 300 km/h ... or 400 :-O
take a look here: 4:36
American lamborghini.
this is a WX-3.
Bernd1966, are you serious asking this?
Imagine how much wheelspin it gets from a dig...... I bet it can barely pull a 12 second pass.
I am not joking about to buy one.
That's because the F40 is a hunk of shit! What do you think of Britain's Noble M400?
Wow, what a memories....I was 6 year old and I saw it in spanish..I'll always remember this ugly and, as a partner said, the worst supercar ever made....Nice vid jajaja!!
The engineer sounds American
i think it looks better then s7.. but they made this car to stubby. 0.0
when jerry weigert first designed this mid 80,the always claimed rediculous speeds, and as far as i am aware not once have they ever met them, the early ones had a donovan racing all alloy chevy based twin turbo v8,a very impressive bit of kit,but handled like a dog on roller skates...come on northax, give me some banter!not the nicest looking of cars either

looks like a jaguar xj220
let the supercars to the europeans!!
This car makes everything look like crap
"You probably expect a car like this to have been crafted by ferrari, lamborghini or lotus"... Not really... Was thinking more along the lines of a blind man.
Did she get overtaken by a truck - on the inside!!!
HAHAHA genious
Not even close.....
When MegaTech LTD had possession of both Vector and Lamborghini, they stuffed some Lambo engines in a stretched Vector chassis and used a bunch of left over Fiero parts for interior etc...
What a POS
AvTech = Aviation Technology.
WX3 = Weigert eXperimental generation 3
:-)
Just another typical concept car that was too ahead of it's time.
Hahaha! Truck flies right by... LOL! This looks like a defective lamborghini. It needs more something?
...you dont know much about the Vector, do you????
I always wanted this car when I was younger. It's pretty and all, but it handled like a elephant on roller skates. Great presentation, Horrible engineering.
it's seem look like lamborghini contach
Looks all spongy and floaty, bet it handled like dogshit.
Not Exactly.

lowl
How does that design look like shit? Remember that this is an early 90s car, and that all those scoops are funtional...
front looks weak
CHEEP!!! ...c'moon - when finally somebody in USA will build PROPER AND REAL sport car???
Car is ugly as shit, suspension looks awful, way too much overhang, but who cares cause Tracey is smokin'!!.
hahahaha... high quality..... thats the most awful car i have ever seen. terrible design standards even compared with cars of the same age..... 800,000 dollars for a cars with a steel frame ...!!!! hahahahahaha dream on buddy. might as well build your own kit car..... give me 800,000 and i will come up with something better than this no problem.
Vector is the worst supercar ever made
Just like most things made by the US such as Lee jeans, they are made well but are ugly as hell and unpractical.
that thing is ugly.
ugly car
2000 + is crap
