Straight foward videos like this are the best, loads of time wasters on UA-cam, need more people like this guy who actually just gets to the point of it, great video really helped me 👍🏽
Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Probably one of the clearest explanations I’ve seen…. Great job thanks.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
I've changed pads before on another car but wanted to check it was the same for my A45. Great video, clear and concise
Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
HI Anton, I had the same with my daughters A180 1.5 D... 1 of the front pads was a lot more worn than the other 3. It was the N/S inner. It was a lot tighter when I took the pads out. I just put it down to crud/rust on the caliper. I made sure that it was rust free and well lubed -coppasslip- before reassembly. I had a similar problem on my Golf R, that was down to a sticky slider pin, but the Mercs were fine. Cheers, Ewan . PS Great commentary mate :-)
Its a bit hit and miss, but it only takes for one pad to be slightly tighter than the others for it to affect how it wears, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Like your video. Sometimes the bolts where the brake piston slides on get sticky and the piston does not position equally above the disk. Then unsymmetric wear of the pads can occur. Had this on my B too.
Thanks for the great information👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Excellent video, sensibly done good video quality and I can now help my mate get his wife’s pads changed ball ache free. Was a little surprised pad wear sensor was on offside only maybe just to reduce original production cost of vehicle..Anyhow many thanks for doing the vid! 👍👍👊🏻
Glad it helped, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
@@aaanton11 your welcome buddy just being honest..👍
This is great.. simple guidance to follow. Job done! Brilliant
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Great video, about the change the pads on my Girlfriends B220 CDI, the factory discs on hers are drilled and vented on hers, where as the ones on the A Class in your video are just vented, I would have assumed they would be the same.
The after market discs for your model are also drilled and vented to will look the same, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Thanks for the video really Good explaining but I've have a question. I've changed front break pads and I've used the old wear sensor and I still got the message "check break wear" does that mean I've got to put new sensor or need to plug in and reset breaks? Thanks
If the sensor was worn down it will need replacing, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Fantastic video, just changed mine now. Thank you
Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Great video well explain nice and straightforward thank you 👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
I have had 3 changed pads within 6 months never had any problems with my Bmw and I drive the a class the same
Strange, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
A question as I'm going to be looking at doing this as my first ever attempt on my own A200D. Bit confused why the brake fluid is such an important thing to check? Can you let me know why I'll need to do this as I didn't see any changes etc!
As the brake pads wear, the fluid transfers to the Calipers, so when the Calipers are pushed back the fluid needs space to return to the reservoir, if it overflows the brake fluid will dissolve any paint it contacts, so spills need to be washed off quickly. Thanks for the great comments 👍🏻🛠
Great job mate , helped a lot . Cheers
Glad it helped Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Really helpful video. Good to know the socket sizes and types before starting.
Horrible to see the completely worn brake pad. Did the driver not hear anything?
Some thoughts
- safer to use axle stands
- I always use copper grease on the surface where the pads slide
- would have been better to tie the calliper up immediately, rather than leave it hanging on the brake hose at first.
- new pads used to come with a protective coating to stop corrosion. Clean off with meths.
- better to use a torque wrench when reassembling.
- good idea to use the adjustable wrench to retract the piston
Thanks Douglas for the great information👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Great video mate. Really enjoy the videos. Have to say though for my own peace of mind. Need them axle stands. Better safe than sorry . Keep it up!
Thanks for the great comments, the best thing to do is not get under anything that can squash you, 😂😂👍🏻👍🏻🛠
i guess it is kinda randomly asking but do anyone know a good website to stream new tv shows online?
@Theodore Bowie I use Flixzone. You can find it on google :)
@Kane Dario Yup, I have been using Flixzone for since april myself :D
@Kane Dario Thank you, signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there =) I really appreciate it !!
thanks for the video. how long would you say does it take a professional to do a full swap for the front axle (rotors and pads). incl. all the prep-work maybe like an hour? or more?
Yes Around 1 hour, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
So you not need to do something with the steering wheel buttons to deactivate the electric parking break?
not on the front, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Are you meant to release the hand brake first? Or the electronic brake? Before taking apart? Cheers
This is the front so leave the hand brake on, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Thanks for this, job done easy
Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Great video although I was rather surprised you didn't use brake disc cleaner
Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
what a professional
Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Is any lubrication needed on the pads for preventing possible squeakin sound?
They have squealer plates, its your choice, its not needed. Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Going to do this on my girlfriend car, now do these cars need a reset on the pad sensor? Mercedes are known for these sensor complications.
when new sensor fitted should be good, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Thanks for this great vid.Cheers.
Glad you enjoyed it, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Thanks I love this video a lot going to change my dads A160 brake pads. Would there be anything to watch out for that may involve a different procedure to this A220 .
its all very similar Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Very professional
Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Add some copper grease on the contact points please!
I don't like to the dirt sticks to it, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Is it the same procedure for the rear pads and discs. Do I need a reset tool for the electronic parking brake? Thanks. Keep up the good work
No different procedures for the rear, the rear callipers have motors in them that will need retracting, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Hey mate, great video! Is there a reason why there wasn’t a wear sensor on the second wheel?
they only feel the need to fit the sensor on one side Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Meant to go into the cars menu on steering wheel an press pad replacement so it retract the callipers for h
That would be on the rears, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Hey mate,i’ve bought a brand new a200d and after 6 months front breaks started judder.Being under warranty I took it back to Mercedes and they said it’s out of warranty because I’ve painted the callipers…no way that could make the breaks judder but I was happy enough to pay to get the disks and pads replaced (after 6 months) . It stopped for a few weeks and then it started again…they want me to buy another set of callipers…any idea what could it be?
Has the paint got into the sliders, causing the pads to stick binding the brakes, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
it was done by a professional garage, calliper hasn’t been taken off and I put the car on an MOT test and it passed no bother,no sticky pads…
Hi mate I bought a discs for my car mercedes Benz a class 2014 the old one it has drilled and the new one it doesn't have drilled it will fit with out any problems thanks
if the diameter is the same there wont be an issue, some aftermarket discs are solid as its cheaper to manufacture, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
hi mate did you say the disc retaining screw was t35 or t30?
Link to tx 35 socket set £14 amzn.to/3QxKpq6 Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
I just did a 2014/15 A116D and it had T30’s holding the disc on, not sure if they changed these in future years to T35.
Thanks for the great information👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Does the brake wear warning light need to be reset after replacing the pads.
No it automatically senses and resets, thanks for the great comments 👍🏻👍🏻🛠
One question, I have W177 A180, is it possible to put bigger discs in front like on a250?
you would need to change the calliper's too, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Rear pad replacement ?? Need to do mine but electronic brake makes me nervous
you will need a eobd tool to set to service mode, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Cheers for the vid, mate.
Thanks for the great comments 👍🏻👍🏻🛠
@@aaanton11 I have just had a full service, and i am assuming they topped up my brake fluid...which would mean my fluid is at the max. When it comes to compressing the piston on the caliper, will this cause me issues.....if i have too much brake fluid to allow for compression what should i do ?
Hello. Good focus on the importat details. Do you know what is the recommended tightening torque of the pad bracket E18 bolts? I know the are usually very tight (>120Nm), but i like doing it "the right way". TIA
the information I found says 100nm, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
What's the name for that Milwaukee tool plz ? Nvm I've just seen the price 😂😢👀
Great tool,amzn.to/3Ne4RfJ Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Should'nt you go in the computer car's menu and select replace pads before you replace them?
not on this model, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
@@aaanton11 same applies for A200 2014 - W176?
Does the rear have brake pad wear sensors?
I believe so, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
How does the piston not look any fluid over time?
the seals hold back the fluid, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Hi is this the same for a Mercedes b180?
Yes very similar, thanks for the great comments 👍🏻👍🏻🛠
@@aaanton11 thanks mate great videos and tips keep it up subcribed and liked 👍
Ro remove the part witht the E18 bold do you need a caliper rewind tool as thats what iv seen on a few videos. or does it just come undone once you remove the bolts? Or is th tool just for the rear
you only need a calliper rewind tool for the rear, large grips work fine on the front, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Hey mate, how do I know when to change my rear pads for the same car? Is there some sort of sensor that will notify me on the dashboard or I need to keep checking with a mechanic?
Yes there should be a rear pad sensor as well Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
@@aaanton11 Thank you mate for confirming and for an excellent video. Will keep an eye out for a light on the dashboard :)
How do you change the rear pads
that will be in another video, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
how does the brake sensor work
The sensor wire has 2 wires that are not connected, when the pads wear down the two wires connect to the brake disc making a connection, bringing the light on Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
@@aaanton11 ah thanks
Hi can you help me, I have A180d sport 2016 plate, which size pads do I need? There are 2 sizes 129 or 144mm
You will need to measure the brake disc diameter, or buy both and return the one that is incorrect, thanks for the great comments 👍🏻👍🏻🛠
The different brake pad wear are seems very disturbing, given im just about to buy this car
they are not all like that, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
@@aaanton11 thx
I have 2016 A200 d
Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Using the same torx nutt noooooo
Yess, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Using buzz gun and not torquing the calliper and wheel bolts.Industry now has everybody using guns and horsing up bolts to save time
My gun has torque settings, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠

Brake wear adjuster u mean break wear sensor
Thanks for the great information👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Hi, I have a 2013 A250. I have doubts about the caliper piston, I understand that it is released electronically from the steering wheel command like this
