And that is why I am leaving the beekeeping to the Mrs. I was nervous of you in the water after seeing that black snake. Yikes lol
Glad I'm not the only one who get drenched in sweat. This weekend's weather is looking pleasant for the workshop.
On hot days I find I have to wear a bandana to keep the sweat from running into my eyes and glasses. You've got some beautiful property - I wish I had something like that with a creek and all that land.
Great stuff Kaylee. You are working hard but living the dream.
I'm in NW Alabama. I got my first hive about 6 weeks ago. By the time I finish checking the girls sweat is pouring off me. It is worth it to see the bees doing what they do.
New suit? I remember you having issues with the old one. That last nuc needs a box quick, gona be a happy customer. Ty for sharing your time, Blessed Days...
I borrowed it from my daughter. I got a new one, but it’s white and clean lol I don’t want to dirty it up 😆😂
Your 'nukes' are really blasting! As for surroundings, it's so beautiful, the pond, the little creek, the forrest. Lucky You to have such a place, to be Nature's child like.🐝💓🍀
That is so nice to be in that creek like that, I would love to be able to do that everyday. So peaceful.
Great Video Bee's are looking fantastic. The snake, The sweat and the cool down you nailed this one thanks for the human side LOL...
We are in Williamsburg. I wish I could visit you. I've ben buying books fir our grandchildren about bees. We even went to a Mead tasting. They only use honey. They get honey from all over they say. We really enjoyed learning about bees. Of course I told them about you. Take care!!
I wear Cotton overalls and I'm soaked afterward. Unfortunately, we just started winter here in Australia and I hate the cold. Time to clean gear and get ready for the spring swarms in late September.
Absolutely beautiful place you guys have. New to beekeeping and I watch every video you put out. Thanks for what you do and keep the information coming. From South Carolina
The best way to cool down 👍
Green acres is the place to be
Farm livin' is the life for me
Land spreadin' out so far and wide
Keep Manhattan, just gimme that countryside
I wish someone would do reviews on different mesh bee suits in similar price ranges.
I agree! Our workshops we have soooo many different suits for our attendants to try!!
@@TheHoneystead I’m thinking of getting a Pigeon Mountain mesh suit. Do you have any experience with those? I saw a review on Mann Lakes mesh suit and they said the elastic on the wrist and ankles didn’t hold up. I’m trying to stay under $150. Im just getting into this.
I love bees. ❤️ I’ve had a few bumblebees find their way into my room through a tiny crack in my window frame, I’m getting really good at catching them and putting them outside. We always have so many wild bees, they love our mayday tree and they’ve already pollinated all the nanking cherries!
Bumblebees are bad news when your mowing a pasture and run over their hole in the ground. Ask me how I know. Much worse than a honeybee sting. I had welts all over my back and wasn’t wearing a shirt.
THAT IS COLD!!!
Stopped on a mtn. road in California in summer '67...stream of mtn. water ICE COLD even in August...enjoy, girl.
I have an ice pack vest and it truly helps me.
Nice giggle there Kaylee, that was great. Surprised the "Big Black Snake" did not take a shot at Violet. She was just about on top of it. All your NUCs looked strong and healthy, of course. Nice work, whole video was very "cool" Thank you for sharing.
Lol it did shock me to see that snake! I thought Violet was going to get bit!!
This is so fascinating to me! Really enjoying your videos!
Like the new bee suit!
NO Idea why seeing you in the creek made me tear up, but here we are! What a gorgeous place!
☺️ I sometimes come to the creek to just relax and focus on my surroundings 💛
After all their hard work, those girls deserve a nice drink of fresh, cold spring water!
One time in fall I sneaked sugar water in the wife’s fountain and it was fun until the traffic got horrendous. We had to move it away on a wagon while in a cloud of bees and all the nonbeekeepers thought it strange and the panic on their faces was a riot!
Be aware of the heat with these, Also they can get ou from the top, Don’t use them anymore but lived the concept,
nice video
Nice job
I'm also running about 50 hives here in NC. We're in our 7th year. After my first year I got rid of the bee suit and gloves. The only thing I wear now is a veil covering my head. I do keep a bee jacket in the truck... just in case. I have been known to work bee's in shorts and flip-flops. I've also been run out of a bee yard a time or two. We work our bee's every 7 to 10 days and most times I get stung, at least once ; ) I'm always saying to myself, "Be the tree" after watching the crazy Bee Czar series. It'd be nice to have a Spring near by but a cold shower is the best I can do after getting drenched with sweat. Enjoy watching your vid's.
Kaylie where do you get your gloves? The massive bee store?
@@TheHoneystead they look so much less bulky than what I have! Pretty sting proof?
How often do you do hive inspections
@@TheHoneystead my husband and I love watching your videos. You’re very down to earth, informative, and come off as having a sweet spirit.
Happy that your inspection went well! I had no idea there was any such thing as an ice vest! Thanks for that tip! Just ordered one!!

I just got a nuc in one of those new nuc boxes. I let it sit over night before introducing them to the hive. When I opened it up in the morning, it was swamped with condensation. It was 90 the day before and dropped to upper 50's that night. I dont think they like temp swings much.
Really enjoyed the video you’re so lucky to have a cool creek to jump in when you get hot I wish we had cool running water in Louisiana. And those pro nukes make really good nucs to transfer bees to customers
You do a great job showing the sweet moments as well as the hard. Thank you for sharing!
Am I too late to buy a couple nuc's from you?
Can you ship them? I live in southeast Ohio
My husband is going through chemo so I can not travel or believe me I would I love Virginia I use to live in Roanoke.
Hello, First time poster here. Thank you for your vids. A quick tip: get a neck fan to wear inside your bee suit, works wonder. Thanks again, keep up the good work.
Thank you for all your videos. But these boxes are too much plastic for me.
Always amazing watching you with your bees. You do an amazing job with them. I know your sad to see them go. But you do amazing it's awesome watching you with them.. Awesome job..😊
Hot hot hot last weekend. I chased and caught one of my own swarms last Saturday. It was just shy of 90 degrees here in New Hampshire. You have a nice new bee suit too. After the sting you posted I almost started a GoFundMe drive to get you a new one, lol. Peace
😲😲🤭😏
Licensing is when the Government takes away your right to do something, and then sells it back to you.
That dip in the creek looked so refreshing. I have a full bee suit and muck boots that I must wear due to allergies . The heat really zaps, me at 66 I'm so thankful my son helps me inspect the hives. Inside my vail I wear a vented hat and cotton kerchief to help keep sweat from dripping into my eyes. My joy is beekeeping! Thank you for sharing your video.
Did I miss the good stuff with the bee's hive split new hive boxes etc
Your property is absolutely stunning
Nice close up!!! Keep doing what you are doing!
I get up before dawn in summer to work bees.
I catch wild bees, suitless isn't an option.
Hello, I have a question when dividing parcels, many of them denied why. Thank you
Love this update. I see you have a new suit...was looking forward to hearing how you made that choice. And do the kiddos ever help you with the bees?
Thank you! This one is my daughter’s suit. I did receive my new one… but it’s so clean lol I don’t want to mess it up haha
They do sometimes… when they were little they would inspect with me, but know that they are older they have their own hobbies!
@@TheHoneystead LOL. That made me smile. Sending you best wishes!!!
🥰🥰🥰🍯🍯🍯 🐝🐝🐝
52 😬wow
If we have a state inspector visit our apiary, well, not good, not good at all. You call them 'passionate' and 'know what they're doing'.
Here they have their wisdom from books, of course they have a phd, but no real life experience. Anyway, they will tell us beekeepers what to do and especially how to do and it doesn't work, what would you expect, really. After 5 years of evaluation I'd expect they would have learnt, it had to change, no mam, they make it worse. Now they want to force each beekeeper work together with a vet who will guide us. There are no vets in my area who know anything about bees. Long story short, many young aspiring beekeepers stop their interest in beekeeping after being confronted with all this rule nonsense. But I'm happy things for you guys turn out to be great.
One would think that the plastic boxes would get hotter inside than the wood ones. Is that so?
So I do believe they get a little hotter. I think I’m going to put something over it to shade them.
Wow, so jealous. Stuck here in central Fl. No springs. No Land
I love you
Good looking nucs Kaylee
That will make some great carbon
violet says snek is fwend
Gotta be the hottest video you've ever done!
Tree roots will definitely cause a breech in the dam. They need to go.
Yeah I agree! I started doing a little research on how to fix a pond and boy do we have our work cut out for us lol!
While i love your bee videos, i dont understand why Americans are so averse to proper beekeeping. Bee hives are supposed to be kept in bee houses. Helps make dryer honey, helps the bees keep constant temperatures, keeps pests away, keeps the beekeeper cool in the summer and warm in the winter.... its just a better way.
Just did a first honey harvest on one hive and was soaked through and through w/ sweat. ( south Texas) It’s not gonna get any cooler for a while. Thanks for the videos!
Ugh!!! I bet it’s hot down there!
