To be fair, Mr. Deacon stuck around to finish 'Made In Heaven'… then retired in 1997.
I respect his principled decision. He's still alive and well… even so I understand that his heart must have been broken when Mr. Mercury passed away… Mr. Deacon could write songs, but he always relied on Mr. Mercury to sing them… when he passed, on top of everything else, it must have been like being struck dumb.
I felt like Deacon was always quite shy and quiet (same as me). Freddie brought him out of his shell, so when he passed he couldn't bare continuing without him 😥

Today is 31st of Freddie's death. I cry when see Freddie in Queen's clips. On this year Freddie was 75. In this clip he was 40. I never see Freddie living (born in 2008), but I'm 5 years love this legendary band . RIP Freddie 😭
My Mum died last Tuesday & her funeral is this Thursday. She specified that this be played because it was her favourite Queen song.

Since they started touring again around 2012 I've been to at least 5 shows and the band sounded amazing. Audience was going nuts as well. I'm sure they'll do some more shows in the wake of the movie #BoRhap's huge success. Go if you get a chance.

Queen wouldn't be the same today as 1985 in any case, because it's very doubtful Freddie's voice would have held up - after all - he'd be over 70 now. Even in 1985, he was often choosing to not sing the high notes in songs like "We are the Champions" or he'd rarely performed "Don't Stop me Now" live because of its difficulty. I think in every performance Adam tells the audience that he's no Freddie and that there will never be another Freddie BUT he's there to celebrate the fabulous musical legacy of Queen with two legendary musicians and they have both said that Adam's voice is one in a billion and has brought a new life to the band. I've been a professional musician going on 35 years now and have rarely heard a rock/pop/Broadway singer with Adam's technical skills (and I've recorded with some very good singers like Michael Buble and Celine Dion) . Adam moves effortlessly through almost 4 octaves and doesn't use a head falsetto - like Sam Smith. His pitch is astounding and he never wavers on long held notes except for a slight musical vibrato at the end. His ballads - like IWTLF - are heartfelt and beautifully sung, and even better, Brian and Roger Taylor are still fabulous musicians. I love the fact that I still get to hear them play live and obviously, multiple fans agree. Madison Square Gardens was sold out in a few hours today as was The Forum in LA. It's your choice, of course, to sit out the chance to catch the band live, but it's also your loss. Queen sure as heck doesn't care as they are touring the world again - and playing before huge crowds. It's odd to make that kind of judgement: "not the same without freddie around", yet you wouldn't know because you haven't actually been to the show.

I am so confident that the cognitive role in mega success of the band of Queen is largely owned by Brian May as the lead guitarist of the band. His guitar playing felt Freddie 's voice so subtly, because it is a sin to drown that at live performance in concerts, especially in the last years of the band 's work, doesn't always coincide with what Freddie performed in studio when recording the album of the Queen. This was confirmed yet by the song " I was born to love you " when Freddie recorded his solo album, which eventually led to the complete failure of the album as hole and the song itself. But when the same song was released later with the band of queen, the same song took of in all the list of hit parades in all countries . That's why I think that Brian May is the best guitarist of 20 th century and Freddy Mercury would not be what he was in the band as " Great Pretender"and the best singer of the world.!!!!!

John Deacon is incredibly talented. He didn't't like his singing voice but he did a lot of background vocals anyway. He was an electric engineer by trade and he invented the amp that Brian May used. All the members of Queen are incredibly gifted, but Freddie is just a heart breaker and nobody can compare to him. The truth is that they all wanted to share the best that their talent could offer with the world, that's why their music stands the test of time and why Freddie sounds amazing as a lead singer. They understood the assignment and worked together to ensure the instrumental matched and showcased Freddie's vocals.

@MrAeronuk1 Roger Taylor has a 7-meter statue of Freddie in his garden (which he took from Dominion Theatre), they also lived together for few years as well. They were all close friends not just with Deacy, John was the most affected with his death though.
Brian was extremely affected when Freddie passed too, he almost took his own life
I think a lot of the connection between Deacy and Freddie was the fact that they both really loved Tamla-Motown-Funk-yes, even Disco music, and Roger and Brian, not so much. Freddie really gave a lot of effort to make Deacy's songs become all that Deacy wanted them to be.
