- Опубліковано 6 січ 2021
- We unbox, set-up and review the Equaliser Mini Spike V2 tattoo machine from KWADRON and talk you through its features.
The Equaliser Mini Spike V2 is a rotary tattoo machine that is compatible with both cartridges and standard tattoo needles and offers the possibility of working with disposable and reusable grips, whichever you prefer.
Although the V1 was a machine dedicated to shading, the addition of an adjustable stroke length from 2.4 to 4.0 mm means that the Mini Spike V2 is now suitable for lining, shading and colour packing.
KWADRON has changed the mounting of the motor within the Equaliser Mini Spike so that it now runs quieter and with less vibration than the first generation model. The RCA connection has also been strengthened, while KWADRON has updated the design to give the tattoo machine a more modern look.

Hey all, it’s Liam from Killer Ink, and today I’m going to be showing you the Equaliser Mini Spike V2.
The Mini Spike V2 is a tattoo machine from KWADRON that has received significant upgrades compared to the original model.
So let’s take a closer look…
The Equaliser Mini Spike V2 is a rotary tattoo machine that is compatible with both Cheyenne-type cartridges and standard tattoo needles.
It also offers the possibility of working with both disposable and reusable grips, whichever you prefer.
Although the first version of the rotary was a machine dedicated to shading, the addition of an adjustable stroke length from 2.4 to 4.0 millimetres means that the Mini Spike V2 is now suitable for lining, shading and colour packing.
In addition, you do not need to change the cam to change the stroke length, as you can simply unscrew one screw with an Allen key and change the position of the excenter to your preferred stroke.
KWADRON has changed the mounting of the 4.5 Watt motor within the Equaliser Mini Spike so that it now runs quieter and with less vibration than the first-generation model.
The RCA socket and it’s connection to the motor have also been strengthened, while KWADRON has updated the design to give the tattoo machine a more modern look, complete with an aluminium frame.
The Equaliser Mini Spike V2 is a lightweight machine and tops the scales at just 91 grams. Furthermore, the recommended working voltage of the rotary is between 4 and 10 Volts.
Designed by KWADRON in Poland, the Equaliser Mini Spike V2 is available in four colours: Black, Gold, Grey, and Silver, and can be ordered from Killer Ink via the link in the description below.
So now that you’ve taken a look at the Mini Spike V2, what do you think? Will it be your next rotary tattoo machine? Let us know in the comments below, hit that like button and don’t forget to subscribe to our UA-cam channel!
what the hell did you do.... oh its actually improved im impressed.
Spike and spike mini in one machine making previous gen obsolete. good job.
Oooof I definitely need to get me one
Should make an update. Machine overall is one of the best machines I have used for lining. However- the frame of the machine is poorly designed and has a major flaw which effects greatly how it runs.
the sides of the frame cause the rubber bands to literally saw in half. I can’t get through more than twenty minutes of tattooing before I hear the integrity of my rubber band starting to break. I have videos of this happening in real time, where you can see the bands sawing through and shards of rubber are then dispersed onto my gloves and onto my machine.
This is not a personal set up issue. This is not a type of rubber band issue. It happens no matter what size and set up of how I apply the bands.
I have sent a video to killer ink (I purchased this machine through them) showing how I have set up my machine, what voltage I am running it on, and they agreed it was correct. There was no resolution from their technical team.
It wasn’t until I spent a few hours running it on fake skin that I saw where exactly the band was breaking and where the friction was happening. It’s on the sides where it edges out from the divot. Before the rubber bands snap I see two perfectly indented areas on that shelf where my rubber bands hit that exact part of the frame.
I have photos and videos to show exactly what is happening and how. If I could upload them here I would.
I would not recommend purchasing this machine unless this particular issue is addressed.
Otherwise, it would be an amazing machine.
idem pour moi ca casse toujours
do you know if that's a problem with all the spike models or only the v2?
@@anselmmathieu8786 so far only the v2. Personally that is the only machine from this company I have used though. However I have had coworkers use the spike mini and have not had any issues like this.
I did however file the edges down, and it’s been working significantly better. I really messed up the finesse of the finish on the machine, and it took me a while to file it and find the right angle that would ensure the machine runs efficiently by having the rubber bands sit in the right place. But once I got it, it worked amazing.
But for all the work I had to do just to alter the frame in order to get this machine running well, it’s not worth the money.
@@sarahcortese8558 do i understand correctly that you said it was the side of the machine that caused the sawing? then you could conclude that the other spike models likely don't have that issue, because their side of the frame is just flat as opposed to the edged shape of the v2, right?
or is it the lower part of the machine frame, the fixture that is specifically designed for holding the rubber, that is caused the problem on your v2? in that case, it would seem like the other spike models could have the same issue since they, from the looks of it, seem to have a similar rubber fixture
im also considering getting myself a equalizer spike, so if you could answer this it would be very much appreciated!
@@sarahcortese8558 thx for the answer! id also be interested what you would have to say to the other commenters question :))
Please do the equaliser wireless tattoo pen, bought it but haven't had the chance to use it 😭😭❤️❤️ but this looks amazing 😍😍
Hi, we're hoping to upload a review of the Equaliser Wireless Pen over the next month or so! :)
I have a legit question about this machine.
I absolutely love this machine, but use it with a standard tube/needle set up. I’m finding that groove that holds the rubber bands have an edge to them as apposed to rounded, and after twenty minutes of tattooing they are cutting my rubbing bands in half.
I have tried multiple types/sizes of rubber bands. I am purchasing these rubber bands from suppliers such as kingpin, Mithra, and workhorse iron. They are not random Amazon questionable products. I have tried them singular set up, double bands, even stretching the band and wrapping them. I run my power unit between 6-8 Volts.
I sincerely love this machine because it truly does run super smooth, packs in super solid, and is overall extremely versatile. I want to continue using it but may need to substitute this if I’m having to replace my rubber bands every twenty minutes.
Am I doing something wrong? Is there something anyone can suggest? Thank you in advance.
(I can provide info to prove I am a legit/licensed artist if needed to receive feedback.)
Hi, you'd be best contacting whoever you bought the machine from for further advice. If you purchased it from us, please contact info@killerinktattoo.co.uk about this.
I heard sanding a part of the machine helps
do you know if that's a problem with all the spike models or only the v2?
Did you ever resolve this issue? Really interested in this machine, but I prefer standard needles & that sounds super frustrating.
@@tanyasharadamba1264 no it was never resolved. I attempted to reach out to Kwadron, but they refused to address me directly and told me I would have to reach out to the supplier who sold the machine. The supplier gave me the run around, despite multiple videos I sent them of my set up and showing them how the band snaps. They actually acknowledged it was an issue but then I was given the run around and passed on to multiple people with no resolution. I ultimately posted here to try and see if anyone from Kwadron would care enough to respond, which they haven’t.
The only way the machine works for a decent amount of time is to literally file the frame down, which I would consider a major fail in the way this machine operates and not worth spending money on.
Fox big v2 🥺🙏🏼🙏🏼
Hi Jose, we're hoping to have a video review of the Equaliser Fox Big V2 within the next month or so 😉
one problem with this machine is that rubber is sawn away by the body design. the side of the machine had to be grated flat
Can you please explainmore? What does "sawn away" mean?
@@melasonos6132 sry my english, as the machine runs, it cuts the rubber band, any type of ruber, 2 sides of the machine touch the rubber, motor is good, strong, I've been using it for 3 months , But it's ruining the whole machine, had to be grated by hand so as not to touch the rubber, but it looks very crappy but works well, and one more thing, very difficult to clean, there are small holes in the body, it looks good and maybe it lightens the weight, but it is hardly accessible, something once the logo on the body " E Spike 2 mini" becomes inked it is very difficult to wash off it. the body design looks good, modern but totally useless, in general, simpler things are better
10V for this machine is too sick! I make solid, fat line on 5-5.5V. For me it's less voltage rotary.
is it suitable for detailed line work? if noc, wich rotary machine is best for that. thanks for your work. keep it up
Hi Stella, yes the Mini Spike V2 is suitable for lining, as well as shading and colour packing.
bonjour cette machine fonctionne bien pour le tracage ? merci
Hey, if you mean lining then yes this machine is great for that 😊
Great machine?
do we need to put elastics holding the needle? seems that the needle will bounce a lot
Hi Cris, it comes down to your preference really. We used an elastic band in the video for the disposable tube, but not the cartridge grip, as a lot of cartridge grips have a guide inside to keep the drive bar centred - so adding tension via an elastic band may off-set it a bit.
Can someone tell me if this machine is good voor dotwork as well?
Hi Aline, the Mini Spike V2 can be adjusted to a 4.0 mm stroke, making it ideal for dotwork. As always though, the best stroke length is down to personal preference.
@@KillerInkTattooEU Thanks!
is it sold with the cable?
Hey, no cable is included with this machine 😊
@@KillerInkTattooEU what kind of cable do you need? :)
What motor ?
Hi Sam, the Equaliser Mini Spike V2 is fitted with a 4.5 W motor.
How mucht
