  • In this 12 minute tutorial, you will learn how easy it is to create your own Halftone image files in Photoshop for black DTF garment printing/transfers. Halftones give your DTF prints a very soft feel since you are essentially removing lots of the black ink prints from your film because it allows the use of the black color of the garment as the black part of the print. This also saves lots of ink (for those who own a DTF printer) and the images look and feel great! You can do this with an RGB PNG file or a CMYK file. At the end of creating the halftone, you just have to be sure to save your print-ready file as a TRANSPARENT PNG, PSD, PDF or whatever your printer requires in order to print.
    One VERY IMPORTANT thing I did not mention in this video is to NOT resize your final Halftoned files when printing. The dot size is optimal for printing when it is created and reducing the file AFTER it has been halftoned will reduce the dot size and will give unexpected results. It is best to always halftone your file at the size you will print it.

    Adjusting the levels on CMYK individually to max out to white is not something Ive seen in other tutorials, but it seems like it would yield more precision of color hypothetically. That was a cool tip thanks - great tutorial.

    A similar tutorial explaining how to do this for shirt colors other than black would be great. I imagine only a few steps to be different, but it would be appreciated if you might decide to do an any color tutorial.

    most detailed tutorial on halftone I ever watched! Can you make a video on halftoning an image if it has glow effects or fading effects for ?

    • @ARPRINT
      @ARPRINT  4 місяці тому +2

      yes I will make one...it is pretty much the same process, the ONLY difference is that you have to flatten your Duplicated image on top of the black background (not have it as a transparent layer) and then do all the steps in this video.

    Great video! But why do you have to convert the image to halftone if you want to print it with DTG Print? Or could it have been printed in its original state?

    • @ARPRINT
      @ARPRINT  3 місяці тому +1

      It could be printed in its original state in DTG, but halftoning it could give it a "comic book" look for those that want to learn how to create comic book style halftones as well.

    Can I print directly from Photoshop or will I have to get CADLink or Acrorip?

    • @ARPRINT
      @ARPRINT  21 день тому

      It depends on your equipment, but it is always best to use a RIP software like cadlink or acrorip or others, to give you more control when printing.

    Do you have this saved as a action (.atn) file ?

    • @ARPRINT
      @ARPRINT  Місяць тому

      I didn't want to create an action because 1) it is very simple to do this as this video shows and 2) each design will require different input Levels, so you would have to modify Levels for each design to get the best Halftoning result.
