    The nice plastic they placed over the insulation to keep things “neat” is actually a vapour barrier required by the building code. It is required to prevent moisture from warm inside air condensing in the insulated wall and causing mould.

    HeyTY: it’s Ray again question I’m watching your video on new construction process. When the builders build these houses does this process work on all houses even in Florida, like the dry wall, the black seal paper around the house. In Florida most of the complaints on the new construction houses is the dry walls are full of bobbles and the air conditioners are dripping water, and lots of mold. When I build my house what can I do to make sure the workers are building the house the right way

    • @TyWilde
      @TyWilde  5 років тому +1

      reinaldo rios Yes, for the most part I would say most of the products and processes should be the same. Personally, I would put the sheet rock designated for wet areas anywhere I was concerned you could get moisture. It will cost a little bit more but most likely save everyone a lot of headaches. 👍🏼

    Hey Ty I spent the last 8 years in the Ogden area working as an engineer. I recently moved to Idaho and want to GC my own home build. Could you make a video showing the permit and inspection process step by step? It's a very hot market so any tips my way would be appreciated!

      @@TyWilde Thanks Ty i appreciate your quick reply! A couple things ive researched. Twin falls county uses the 2012 international building code which requires an initial approval of the architectural construction and site plans. Inspections start with foundation inspection then with plumbing, mechanical, electric and gas. Framing and masonry after that and then final inspection. I believe after final inspection a certificate of occupancy needs to be issued then you are good! Let me know what you think. Thanks!

      Christian Loya - good for you. Congratulations. As far as the inspections go, I’d probably want to confirm with my superintendent, but it sounds like what you have there is the correct order and process. Best of luck.

    Each partOf the construction phase does your crew handle all of it or is some of the subcontract out

    • @TyWilde
      @TyWilde  4 роки тому

      Thanks for your excellent question. It's pretty much all sub'd out to different specialists in each field. If you go with a custom home build, usually a higher percentage of the work will be done by one person.

    • @northerngarage3154
      @northerngarage3154 4 роки тому

      Correction! Pump Jack's are the easiest! If you're unaware of what pump Jack's are its basically scaffolding that uses 2 poles, one st either end of the plank (aluminum plank) and theres a petal at each pole and you use your foot to pump it and it brings you up, they are very expensive but very worth it

    • @TyWilde
      @TyWilde  4 роки тому

      Fred Semakula That’s a tough question to answer. Really, it’s yes and/or no. The large homebuilders can get homesites a lot cheaper than if you just buy the homesite yourself and so that’s a huge savings right there which allows them to compete and beat most custom home builders.

    as a specialist would you consider some changes in your outdated technologies used on building new houses? By placing multi split systems working down to -22 F , you get 2 in 1 heating and cooling where cooling 2x more efficient than a traditional system . Since a multi split does not need lots of space a basement become a useless thing from the past instead you build a shallow frost protected foundation saving $20 000 or more on the foundation. With all money you saved up you could install solar panels making your house energy independent. The only thing left to do is just to ask a prospective buyer , would he prefer to buy a house built in a traditional manner and pay every month $200-$300 bills or an energy independent house with every month bills close to $0
