  • To Tell the Truth turns 65 today. In my opinion, the greatest game show of all time, which judging from how many episodes of the show I have uploaded to this channel, should be no secret. It's the show that I've been proud to say I've helped find and reveal two episodes that hadn't been seen in full in over 60 years. Sure, I'm no Marshall Akers, but that's fine. I'm happy being able to spread my love and appreciation for this show to anyone who listens.
So in honor of the show I went with a rarity you likely haven't seen before, from back when GSN would regularly air the color daytime episodes of the series in the mid-90s. Here's an episode that is extremely early in the run of the studio audience vote minigame. Here, members of the studio audience make up a "jury", with one member of said jury elected to speak for the entire jury and announce their vote. Absolutely bizarre and it's pretty easy to tell why they switched over to the studio audience voting process that you know and love.
On today's show, the usual gang of Tom Poston, Peggy Cass, Orson Bean, and Kitty Carlisle are tasked with deducing the real Mexican Catholic priest who moonlighted as a television star in the first game, while in game two, a doctor with an expertise in insect allergies is up for consultation.
Quality of this is not the best because it comes from a pretty rapidly deteriorating video tape that I am glad I digitized when I did. It's worth a watch anyway and I doubt you'll lose any sleep over it.
Happy Birthday, To Tell the Truth!!

That jury is bizzare. Interesting to see this.

Number 3 priest said I would no , not I don't know. The answers loose something between the contestants and the panel . Especially Tom , I think that he may have a hearing problem.

Is it true that Father Almazan is alive and will be 100 in February 2024?

To Tell The Truth used to have 3 sets of contestants. This particular show (1967) had 2 sets, but tons more >>> commercials. I did a lot of fast forwarding thru this show. And I will now refuse to watch episodes newer than 1966.
